Somebody once said “A little knowledge can be dangerous” (Einstein, if you are interested) and, in the context of the suspension tightrope this week, we’ve seen this profound maxim played out before our very eyes as Michu and Marouane Fellaini racked up their fourth week of suspended animation in the weekend fixtures.

Both players still sit a single indiscretion from a one-match ban, though, and although Swansea’s Spanish number nine negotiated his home encounter with Chelsea with just a two point return, the towering Belgian notched a double to serve those of us who gave him too wide a berth a severe lesson. While our pair of protagonists look forward to a decent run of fixtures, Fantasy managers are understandably cautious of investment, given the duoโ€™s Tightrope balancing act.

Fulham defender-cum-midfielder, Chris Baird has been the object of desire for over 100,000 Fantasy managers in the last two Gameweeks, thanks largely to his back-to-back goals against Villa and Reading. The out of position prospect delivered a cautionary note to his new owners this week, however, after receiving his fourth yellow card of the season in the Craven Cottage draw with Everton. Pulled up for an unfair challenge on Steven Pienaar, the Northern Irishman will now join the Tightrope party ahead of the visit to Arsenal in Gameweek 11, while his suitors now face an anxious wait.

Chelsea pair David Luiz and Ramires are not strictly new additions to the funambulistโ€™s fraternity, though both flashed brightly on our disciplinary radar this week. The duo missed out on first-team duties at Swansea on Saturday โ€“ a place on the bench greeted Ramires, while Luiz was ruled out with an ankle injury, but they will be wary of further sanction in their next forays after accruing their fourth cautions in the Capital One Cup win over United in midweek. It’s therefore an interesting proposition this Sunday as, if fit and selected, the Brazilians will face up against fellow tightrope resident Luis Suรกrez – all three bidding to avoid an enforced rest.

The final pairing to be picked out this week highlight the future risks within the otherwise investable West Ham defence. As the cheapest back line to muster a season-leading four clean sheets, West Ham continue to blink wildly with solid budget options – as this week’s shut out of the Champions showed, the tricky fixtures ahead may still reap reward in this area. Sitting pretty in the centre of that defence, and the upper echelons of the Fantasy point charts, James Collins and Winston Reid would leave a large hole behind should they fall foul of a sanction, and while the likes of Jordan Spence would step in, injuries to James Tomkins and Guy Demel already have the Hammers’ backline stretched.

For the full list of those now with four cautions to their name, the tightrope widget in the right-hand sidebar is the place to visit.

Crossing to the other side of the line, a few new faces put themselves in hot water this week, and will now serve immediate bans. A straight red card for Fabricio Coloccini, following dangerous play in the vicinity of Mr Suรกrez will see him suspended for the next three fixtures (WHM, SWA, sot). A pair of yellow cards for an over exuberant Jack Wilshereย against Manchester United will put him straight back in the Emirates stands for the visit of Fulham, while an accumulation of yellow cards for Aston Villa defender Eric Lichaj, despite only starting three league games this season, has amounted to five and a ban for the upcoming visit of United. Those 3 will join Stรฉphane M’Bia (second of three matches) and Cheick Tiotรฉ (last of three) in missing gameweek eleven.

I've had Vermaelen all season and reasonably satisfied with Arsenal's CS record so far and CS prospects in the near term schedule. I always play 3-4-3 - I've got Garrido/Figueroa rotating H/A and I also have Cuellar and I'd like to find a defender to rotate with him H/A to replace Nathaniel Clyne - Santon/S.Taylor at NWC or Olsson at WBA. 0.4 in the bank. Worthwhile to move out Vermaelen for Sagna or Mertasacker to find the cash for a Cuellar rotation candidate ?

I personally see no value in TV5.
He is not going forward the way he used to go in previous two season. Sagna is always a choice as he should be providing assists provided Giroud & co can finish.

Thanks. His 2 prior nearly full seasons he had 6 and 7 goals respectively which turned my head. It's a lot of money invested in a defender who does not look an attacking threat this year. I could go Rafael but I prefer to have at least 1 defender nailed on from one of the top defensive teams and I'm not sure I should invest in Rafael at this point (or any MNC defender).

I tend to agree with this. Having said that - in the first few games, he was bombing forward just as much as last season. So I think maybe it has more to do with Gibbs vs Santos than it does Arteta vs Song - his reticence to get forward. And Gibbs is due back soon. There's also an argument to say that he's so bad at defending at the moment - he'll be busting a gut to make a difference at the other end and make up for it. Frankly, if your attack/mid isn't suffering for it and you've built a good team with him in there - I'd keep him for the nice fixtures. He is 'due'. As they say..

I took a look at Doosra's table referenced abve and Mertasacker has more shots than Vermaelen. Slight worry about Koscielny coming back into the side has me leaning to Sagna.

    West Brom at home...

    P5 W4 (inc Liverpool & Everton) L1 (narrowly against Man.City) GD +6

    Southhampton away from home,,,

    P4 W0 L4 (inc 4-1 West Ham) GD -11

Southampton have the worst away record in the Premier League. They are dire.
A win tonight gives West Brom the best home record in the Premier League. They are quite useful.

    4/5 West Brom??

I just think there are better alternatives than Aguero, plus they are more reliable to start every week, and cheaper, meaning you can strengthen elsewhere.

Don't get me wrong, I can't see Aguero not coming good, but I just don't think this will happen if Man City somehow remain in Europe. It's likely they'll be out of CL, but there is a chance EL may still be on. I'm hoping they finish 4th, because if they do, I may well consider bringing Aguero back in. At the moment, Mancini is rotating to much and thinking about a game ahead to much. My idea originally was to stack £ in the 3 forwards, but if you've got van Persie, and Suarez/Tevez. Do you really want to add Aguero to that?

I brought Berbatov in for Aguero, I know thats a template move, but what is the point going from Aguero to Tevez, who has like 45% ownership? Berbatov'll get 15-20 goals and is starting, why would you sit on Aguero in the hope he will come good?

Other strikers are already doing good. Pointless forking out 11mill on a player who may be benched to come on for 15 mins.

It's hard to judge whether SAF has written off Nani and Kagawa to Cup appearances. Then Young is a good option. But right now, it just looks like there are too many options on the left. Might think about Valencia in that price ballpark if you need MUN attacking coverage.
