[sbu_large_image] The Stock Check

A dubious penalty, compounded by a red card, knocks the wind out of Wigan but hands Demba Ba the platform to reward the faith of his army of Fantasy owners. Here’s the Stock Check from Monday’s events…

On the Up

Demba Ba
The Senegalese striker went into tonight’s game having scored just once in his last five league appearances but rewarded the patience of his owners with a brace. Ba converted the early spot-kick before leaping on the rebound from Davide Santon’s effort to take him to ten goals for the season. Tonight’s returns will earn him further interest, although Ba was struggling with his hamstring late on, with Alan Pardew optimistic post-match that this was just stiffness rather than a setback.

Fabricio Coloccini
The towering Argentine has emerged as the most popular member of the Newcastle defence in terms of FPL ownership and his return to the Magpies’ back four has added the stability that helped them to their first clean sheet in ten league outings.

Going Down

The Wigan Defence
Robbed of Antolin Alcaraz for much of the season and with further niggles biting, Roberto Martinez now faces more problems at the back with Maynor Figueroa banned for the vital home clash with QPR, while Gary Caldwell picked up his fifth booking tonight which will also see him miss the weekend. With Ivan Ramis remaining an injury doubt, the Latics look set to field a patched-up back four for the visit of Harry Redknapp’s side.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Not sure why this is completely necessary...? Nolan won't be rotated, Fellaini won't be rotated. Michu won't be rotated. Bale won't be rotated. Mata maybe but I expect not as much as lately.

It's much easier to find a midfield that doesn't rotate much. The problem is the strikers and defenders. Man City? Only Kompany really. United? Who knows now? Chelsea? Cole and Terry? Arsenal? Who'd want one? Strikers probably only Suarez is truly safe from rest/rotation from the big guns.

Mata will come good although it's no denying he will fall upcoming 2 GWs. Silva should just be one of Mancini's mind games and Walcott is always a doubt :/

        Yeah, I'm a little bit uncomfortable. 😉

Sit tight, you have Puncheon in reserve incase Bale or Silva dont make it.

Long term I'd want RVP over Roon, but there are some valid arguments Roon is better value for money

Cheers. Roon is on penalties as well. Against great teams he will play midfield, against lesser teams he will play ACM or forward. Problem with Rooney is he always scores points in bursts 🙂

    Morning guys,

Think I'm going to do use my FT today on Bale -> Fellaini

    Sound right?

Not ideal having Pienaar and Fellaini, but I don't really want to take a hit - cant afford a straight swap and also worried about fielding 11 players on the weekend.

Can still wildcard if I have to.

    Thoughts please guys.

    Mignolet
    Rangel – Cuellar – Shorey
    Pienaar – Sterling – Michu – *Silva – *Bale
    Berbatov – Van Persie

    Jaaskelainen – Cameron – *Suarez – *Jones B

ok crazy idea time, feel free to shoot it down

So I've been struggling to find a striker to replace Long with in a few weeks. Then a brainwave hit me, why not just put Hernandez in a stop worrying?

If he plays chances are he will score. If he doesn't, with the midfield I have there is an easy access to points off the bench. I also figure with the Chrisrmas period approaching Fergie bound to employ some rotation, there should be some game time for him

Ok now tell me I'm crazy

For me, it's too much cash for someone who isn't guaranteed the gametime. When there's options like Ba, Defoe, Berbatov, Lambert etc in a similar price bracket I don't see why anyone would do it.

oh, alright then. if you insist:

    Mig
    Cuellar, Baines, Enrique
    Michu, Fellaini, Sterling, Walcott, Puncheon
    RvP, Tevez

    Bego, Weimann, Hughes, Gorkss

    1) start The Gorkss over Punch? (even though Gorkss will probably only play less than 90 minutes of the DGW games)
    2) Weimann -> Berba (-8 hit)
    3) any other lunatic or hair-brained schemes?

    A Ridgewell > Shorey

    B Cameron > Shorey

I decided that I would sell Cameron soon due to Stoke's fixtures becoming a lot less attractive and sticking with just Begovic. Good job Ridgewell didn't play because I would have missed Cameron's points with yet another Stoke cleanie at the weekend.

Form says keep Cameron and sell Ridgewell but Ridgewells GW 17 and GW18 fixtures are decent (WHM, NOR) compared to Stoke's (EVE, tot).

    What do you guys think?

    I have:

    Bego Tremmel

    Enrique Cuellar Cameron Ridgewell Gorkss

Toughy .. both capable of returning useful points. I'd probably ditch Ridgwell, based on the fact it frees up more cash.

I'm going for Tremmel at the moment. Selling Ridgewell would mean I still play Cameron so that makes me feel better about that!

This all rests on Bale's injury not being serious and him missing 1 maybe 2 games. If I did Ridgewell > Shorey, my team this week would be:

        Tremmel

        Enrique Cameron Shorey Cuellar

        Cazorla Michu Fellaini Sterling

        Berba RVP

        (Bego, Gorkss, Suarez, Bale)

Whichever is out for the longest. Long term I still think Bale and Silva will be the most consistent scorers. I'd want both back in if I had bot....If Bale's out for two weeks though I think that is ditchable, but have a plan to get him back. Silva's sounds minor until we here something more concrete from Mancini.

I was thinking Bale to Sess this week, then back again in a couple of weeks. There's lots of talk about wasting transfers on the site, but to be honest, there's been a few weeks where I almost didn't use one even when having 2 frees. Also most of my transfers this season have been rubbish so why not use them to move out injured players and get them back again.

the benefits of captaining a DGWeeker is if they score or assist in both matches they have the potential to get bonus in each game.

              so if sess for example

gets a lucky assist against chelsea - say he ends up with 2 plus 3 and 2 bonus = 7pts

against reading he scores 1 goal plus 3 bonus = 10pts.

thats 17pts for not really doing much at all = 34pts as captain.

risk worth taking??? i think so especially when all the rivals will put dgweekrs in

                WTF?!!

You have just calculated points that a player MAY get & used that as your reason for getting him!!!

You are either very very young, or just dumb.

I will captain Boswinga, cause QPR will win a game sometime this season. I think it will be this weekend.

So that is 24 pts doubled to 48 points as a captain...

your the a$$hole who was anti rvp. i rest my case. im just making my point that captaining a dgweek is a very safe option and can be highly rewarding due to seperate bonus points for each match.

michu has one game - say he scores 2 goals - he will get one set of bonus points.

sess has 2 games - if he scores one goal each game - he gets bonus for each game.

      Same.

I'm making other plans at the moment which involve Shorey's DGW plugging the gap this week (Suarez and Bale out meaning a 4-4-2) and Sterling covering next week.

I don't feel confident in any of his potential replacements - I already have Michu and Fellaini - and since I bought him at £9.3m, selling and buying back 2 weeks later doesn't make much sense for me.

if you bought him at 9.3m, your selling at 9.6m. he will go down tonight and possibly down one or two times more.

so you will buy him back around 9.6-9.7

That's assuming I sell him before he drops tonight, in which case I would want confirmation on his injury today.

If I sell him tonight for someone I don't really feel confident in (e.g. Walcott, Silva or Sess) and it turns out he'll only miss one game, I'll be extremely annoyed.

fair enough. for me maybe its easier. sold him last night at 9.6m. his price will go down to at least 9.7m.

mata has a blank next week. i will bring bale back in for mata if he is fit

Hello guys, is it wise to sell Bale/Mata for Sessegnon?

Yes, sell good players & then buy very average players to replace them.

Look at Arsenal, for example, that is what they do...

It's a gamble, but with Bale injured and Mata with the blank GW might not be such a bad move

Hi guys, I have 2 FT's this week and £0.2 in the bank, any suggestions :-

    Tremmel McCarthy
    Cameron Rafael Cuellar Hughes Demel
    Bale Cazorla Michu Silva Puncheon
    RVP Ba Berbatov

I was considering Silva or Bale > Fellaini

Probably do Silva>Fellaini for long term and Bale>Sess for the DGW and bring bakc Bale when fit

What's happened to Gorkks? Has he been dropped. Currently have him for the double but wondering whether it is worth bringing in Shorey for a 4 pt hit?

He's been we'll and truly dropped. It appears Big Mac has been swayed by the fans opinion so it's unlikely we'll see him soon.

If you had to play one, who would you play for GW16,

Demel - Home to Liverpool without Suarez
    or
    Cameron - Away to Villa

Would play Cameron, Demel only made place to the last to GWs as McCartney was injured, so he won't play if McCartney is fit and no other Stoke defenders are injured this week.
