We knew it was coming. Luis Suarez had been balancing on the Suspension Tightrope for too many a week, it seemed, and Saturday’s home clash against Southampton finally proved his undoing. Having rattled the woodwork from a free-kick earlier in the game, the Uruguayan fell foul of the referee after a bizarre attempt to punch the ball into the visitors’ net from close-range – it seems he’s yet to shake his predilection for handball in the box.

With five yellows accrued, Suarez’s one-match ban will see him miss the Reds’ trip to West Ham this upcoming Saturday – Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have moved dramatically after he was flagged at the weekend, with 70,000 already selling him on, in spite of a superb upcoming schedule. Former Red Charlie Adam also joins Suarez on the sidelines after receiving his fifth caution of the season for a foul on Zoltan Gera in Stoke’s weekend win at West Brom – Adam is now sidelined for the Potters’ trip to Villa.

The Suspension Tightrope welcomes a trio of new arrivals this week. Adam’s Stoke team mate Ryan Shawcross is now a booking away from a one-match ban as he heads into the aforementioned Villa Park showdown, while John Obi Mikel and Gareth Bale are both on shaky ground ahead of trips to Sunderland and Everton respectively, though Bale’s availability for Spurs is still yet unclear after he limped off against Fulham with a hamstring strain.

Transferred in by almost 80,000 Fantasy managers already this week, Michu has been swaying on the Tightrope for several weeks now but the Swansea midfielder continues to avoid the referee’s wrath. Having been booked in four of his opening eight matches in all competitions, he has now completed his ninth game without a caution, with a weekend brace against Arsenal his latest Fantasy helping.

This evening’s game at St James’ Park has plenty of protagonists on our radar. Newcastle and Wigan both have two players apiece currently on four cautions – Jonas Gutierrez and Cheick Tiote are the hosts’ main concerns, while the Latics have Gary Caldwell and James McCarthy to worry about. In addition, a quartet of players are a caution away from appearing on the Tightrope – Davide Santon, Mike Williamson, Franco Di Santo and Maynor Figueroa currently sit on three bookings apiece.

Next week’s round of games will see Brede Hangeland and Emmanuel Adebayor available for selection after serving respective three-match bans, while Newcastle’s James Perch will be free to feature in the weekend trip to Fulham after he sits out tonight’s final match of the Gameweek.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

not convinced with PEP. he was blessed with the best team. poor business when he sold etoo for ibra too. then when mourinho got one over him, he couldnt handle the pressure and quit. not sure id want him at united until he proves himself elsewhere.

mourinho on the other hand is proven

I dont agree, Mourinho has always had the best possible players as well and huge amounts of cash. I am probably only one who is thinking this but I think Real are a terrible team if you consider money spent. Even worse than City, and its not like Real is a newly upcoming team like City who dont have a good base to grow from.

And Mourinho has some issues around him and struggles with players. Everyone seems to love Pep. I think every player in the world will want to come to play for Pep, I dont think that is the case for Mourinho who is more of a dictator.

look at the start of Mourinho's carreer when he showed up at FC.Porto he did what no one else tought it was possible at the time winning both Europa League and Champions in 2 years in a row, with a team completely unknown throughout Europe. best coach out there no doubt about it at least for me.

He is a great manager for sure. But currently he is in control of the best talent in the world and he is doing nothing. And CL is a lot to do with luck, I respect him more for what he did with Chelsea.

Fergie was unproven too. And I would hate that United would get a glory hunter like Mourinho or any other foreign top manager who will want to move on to a new challenge in a few years. Moyes has been the best manager in the world by far in the recent years if you consider the funds and talent he has had to work with.

The Eto'o sale was because of the tax laws in Spain - foreign nationals pay much less tax for their first 5 years in the country, then it jumps up to the normal rate. He wanted the same take-home pay, which would have meant a huge salary increase.

        Doubt it.

Shelvey will play as a striker with Suso and Sterling alongside.

Sterling is suffering because he's been overplayed, not because he's playing with Suarez.

i.e. you bring in Fletcher for -4 but only makes up the 4pts with apperance pts.

Okay, need some help on who to bench and who to captain. Currently have the following midfield and forward lineup, but need to bench one. I know that bale may miss the next game, but of he is fit he's a must start IMO, so will leave him in and let auto sub do its thing if he's out.

    Bale. Michu. Caz. Mata. Fellaini
    Aguero. Giroud. Berbatov

    Basically I need help to:
    A) decide who to bench, and
    B) decide who to captain

    Thoughts and insights appreciated!

I would bench Mata, away to Sunderland and the team are off form...Cazorla at home to WBA and is rested for midweek games so hopefully looks fresh...and in all likelihood Bale will not play anyway.

I would then captain Michu at home to Norwich.

Good point, that is why Shorey and Cuellar are probably the best options as they can be benched. But Fletch or Sess will get a transfer out althought the SOT fixture after the next one is not horrible either. So if you have someone to play instead you might as well bench too.

I have some sort of perverse logic that his 4 yellows mean I should keep him.
If I ditch now and he's only out 1 week I'd want him back but know I would use the 4 yellows as a reason not to get him in and would miss a bunch of scores while he goes on avoiding that 5th yellow.
