With Gameweek 17 done and dusted, we’re down to the last 16 in the Fantasy Football Scout Paddy Power Cup VII. Before we roll out the draw for the next round, we take a brief look at some of the previous weekend’s results. In one of two draws in the final 32, Tom Wilson scraped through against Jonathan Horrocks on rank alone after the pair battled out a 70-70 stalemate last time round. The same applies to Tim Wall, who drew 47-47 with David Jay but clinched a place in the next round thanks to his overall rank of 761.

Tim is one of four Fantasy managers in the top 1,000 who remain in with a chance of the silverware. John Scholl JMS sits in 40th in the rankings, Cameron Licciardi is in 512th spot and, last but by no means least, Iyad Zahlan has climbed back to world number one spot and remains the man to avoid.

We should have the fixtures for the next round with you by tomorrow.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

So, a word of warning regarding West Ham and Arsenal:

Isn't there a chance that it will go in the gap between gameweeks 21 and 22? Arsenal have Champions League after that, so that may well be the best window for them, and it's not as if many fans will have long distance travel plans to make.

I remember that little window being used for rescheduled games in the past.

Anyhow, I would probably advise keeping your Arsenal assets, if you possibly can. Think the DGW won;t be far around the corner. Maybe I;m just lucky though, I have a midfielder and one attacker, so not too hard to bench.

I've seen from a few websites that January 23 is the most likely date at this point. I've not checked other games or anything though.

I'll probably have Sagna/Walcott before then, will add Cazorla I reckon.

Right, I've made the deep cut and binned off Fellaini. The new look side is:

    Schwarzer / Mignolet
    Clyne / Enrique / Johnson* / Nelson / Shorey
    Bale / Cazorla / Michu / Puncheon* / Sterling
Benteke / Torres* / Van Persie

    * = new additions (for Caulker, Fellaini, Giroud)

Any opinions? Be ruthless!!! (got £1.8m in bank, btw)

I guess some people will oppose the 4 pt hit but what do you think of the following...

    Garrido < Vertonghen
    A Johnson < Puncheon

My side as of now is..
    Jaask (Mignolet)

    (Gorkks), Riise, Rafael, Garrido, Cameron

Silva, Michu, Sterling, Maloney, (A Johnson)

    RVP, Suarez, Berbatov

I have 0.1 in the bank.. 1 FT.
Spurs have nice fixtures and I think Vertongen is going to start scoring a lot better...
Puncheon has a couple of decent fixtures and is sooo cheap..
    My defence needs some strengthening.

I might not have much time to sit down and make good transfers over the coming week..

    Are the above moves sensible..?.

I would consider binning Berbatov for Benteke too. I know he is part of a larger bandwagon now but I've had Benteke for a month or so. I think he is a better long term bet and is cheaper at the moment.

Saram, I think you should do it but I would consider Glen Johnson for the extra 0.1m instead of Vertonghen. I like Vertoghen too but if you compare them on the tool, Johnson is miles ahead...and Liverpool have some decent fixtures coming up.

Because everyone else's game will go ahead on Boxing Day and they won't need to find an alternative date to play their fixture.

GarethBale11 I'm going to be doing a Q&A with @SpursOfficial a little bit later today. Make sure you tag your questions with #SpursQandA for me πŸ™‚

Might give an indication of his fitness.

Looks pretty much like Gibbs and Cazorla is the way forward for an Arsenal DGW. They sound like the most nailed on (having Santos as deputy is about as close to nailed on as you can get) and not bad for points.

Jan WC after the DGW to clean up, or before to prepare? Thinking the former

Former definitely. DGWs can derail your season!

Although to be fair Gibbs and Cazorla are both players you probably would keep beyond the WC.

Clean up. You don't want to be left with triple Arsenal (or West Ham 😯 ) afterwards.

Sagna + Walcott for me, but I have/will have them already.

Walcott will probably be injured by then, though.

Was speaking from an ideal world here where I could just pick without any constraints. I have Sagna too and he definitely looks subdued attacking wise. Wonder if he's carrying a knock, his mobility seemed pretty impaired against Reading, constantly playing the simple ball and not looking to break forward.

Who knows where Walcott will be in January. On the treatment table? On the pitch? At Anfield?

I reckon he will be at Arsenal. Whether he will have signed a contract is another situation.

Sagna had an 'almost assist' vs Reading, AOC (?) missed a sitter. But yeah, Gibbs obviously the more attacking. 0.3 is a lot sometimes though.

Yeah I saw the AOC header, could have brought him 1 assist versus Gibbs' 2. I know there's always the risk of bias when you own someone and expect more from them but it looks like yet another example where I thought I was being canny choosing a personal favourite but it backfired (see Bardsley v Cuellar)

Gibbs was of course up against Cummings which we also have to consider.

That's true - Gibbs has 4 assists, with the other 2 coming against Southampton when he was up against.... Clyne πŸ˜†

Sagna not having a single one is grating with me, when fullbacks push forward that much it's bizarre they can't get one.
