Today’s big news is that Michu has been ruled out of Swansea’s trip to Fulham tomorrow after picking up an ankle injury at Reading on Boxing Day. Michael Laudrup remains uncertain whether his top goalscorer will be ready to face Villa on New Year’s Day, stating he may be available “with a little luck”.

Luis Suarez has been passed fit to turn out for Liverpool’s trip to QPR as both sides look to bounce back from Boxing Day defeats, while Harry Redknapp is hopeful Ryan Nelsen can shake off a virus in time for Sunday’s game. Carlos Tevez failed to train due to illness yesterday but “should” be fit, according to City assistant boss David Platt. Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri are both back, though Mario Balotelli is likely to miss out with illness once again.

Over at United, Sir Alex Ferguson hopes to have Ashley Young and Danny Welbeck available after they missed out against Newcastle. Phil Jones will be assessed, while Shinji Kagawa could make the bench, according to his manager, who also ruled Wayne Rooney out “for at least another two games”. Jonas Olsson, Youssouf Mulumbu and Goran Popov are all “major doubts” for West Brom ahead of their Old Trafford visit, though.

The injuries mount up for Paul Lambert as Villa prepare for the visit of Wigan. Andreas Weimann and Nathan Baker have been ruled out for the midlands outfit as they look to bounce back from a couple of recent hammerings.

We’ve collected all this in our team news section and added our current predicted lineups ahead of the weekend’s fixtures. You can keep in touch with the very latest via our twitter feed as always.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hello, this is my first post about my team, I would really appreciate any thoughts as I’m struggling this week!

    Begovic

    J Enrique, Nelson, Cuellar

    Morrison, Mata, Sterling, Michu

    Torres, Rooney, RVP (C)

    SUBS:Britton, Stam, Barnett

    1. Rooney, Sterling, Michu > Bale, Walcott, Anibech (8 pts)
    2. Rooney, Sterling > Anibech, Walcott (4 pts)
    3. Rooney, Sterling, Michu > Anichebe, Bale, Gerrard (8pts)
I guess Walcott can be changed with Carzola and it would be nice to have Arsenal cover for DGW.

Bale I’m worried may have had a one off but I know they have “easy fixtures” coming up.

I know Gerrard is a weird one but his last 3 games were 9-17-7!

Anichebe could also be replacde with Prog (both at 4.3) but I just need a bench warmer to be honest.

I would love to get rid of Morrison too! Ive got plenty of money in the bank with Rooney going!

Again, thoughts comments would be appreciated with choices!

    Thanks!

6 Teams with best chances of a clean sheet this week according to paddy:

    Man U (2.1), Stoke (2.25), Arsenal (2.29), Man City (2.29), Tottenham (2.62), Liverpool (2.62)

Do you agree? I'm reluctant to get in an Arsenal defender this week as i think you're relying too heavily on attacking threat. Newcastle will score i reckon.

just a thought on Ba. I'm aware he wants to leave, but where will he go, Wenger has ruled Arsenal out, if he goes to Liverpool he won't play up front. IMO he is best off staying where he is. I realise Newcastle are on a bad run but can much of this not be attributed to to the loss of Ben Arfa and in particular Cabaye whose loss can not be underestimated IMO.

Suarez is better playing with a big striker up front imo.

Getting a big striker from Newcastle to help Suarez? A novel idea

Of course he would play up front, flanked by Suarez and Sturridge. Sounds very good on paper.

Well I do believe there will be a couple of other teams fishing around for him. Your point about the midfield is absolutely spot on. In fact it is solely because the middle is so week I'm considering selling him for Berba, nothing to do with his quality.

From an FPL perspective I hope he remains at Newcastle. Too many unknowns if he makes a move, I'd be tempted to remove him from my team.

It's from an FPL perspective that I want him to stay as well, I want to bring him in on wc. But I also genuinely think he's best off where he is, the grass isn't always greener

    Hey folks

I have 1 FT and £1.3m in the bank.

    Begovic, Ruddy

    Nelsen, Enrique, Demel, Cuellar, Gorkks

Mata, Michu, Bale, Yaya Toure, Sterling

    RVP, Aguero, Berbatov

Was thinking of bringing in Walcott for Yaya Toure?

Or just upgrade Gorkks to Sagna?!

    Thoughts please?
    Thank you"

I don't take a hit to hope for a profit after 6 weeks, i hope for an immediate profit. Not sure why people are reluctant to take hits because they are wild-carding in a few weeks. If the player(s) you are bringing in for a hit score more points (+4pts) the same gameweek the hit is deemed successful. As long as it's not a sideways hit, i think they are acceptable., especially if you are struggling to field 11!

Yeah they shouldn't be looked on so negatively. I think some people have OCD with it sometimes and like to make as few transfers as possible. If you are so reluctant to take a hit you can sometimes miss out on big points by taking a risk from time to time.

Dempsey > Bale -4 worked well for me this week.
