634x258 Suspensions

Four players fell foul of the five-yellows limit in Gameweek 20, with Gareth Bale the most high profile protagonist to earn a one-match suspension ahead of a home match with Reading. West Ham pair Kevin Nolan and James Collins also sit on the naughty step for their game against Norwich at Upton Park, as does Bradley Johnson of Norwich City…

Despite seeing red on Saturday, Steven Nzonzi will be available for Stoke’s trip to City after the club lodged an appeal for wrongful dismissal last weekend. The midfielder was set to serve a three-match suspension for a challenge on Southampton’s Jack Cork but he’ll take his place in a likely rearguard effort at City in tomorrow’s clash.

Conflicting reports surround Samir Nasri’s availability. The Frenchman was handed a straight red for his “headbutt” attempt on Norwich’s Seb Bassong at the weekend – while the local press reported the club had decided to appeal, the Mail, however, have suggested that City won’t appeal. Earlier today, Roberto Mancini admitted he was uncertain whether the club would take any action – a three-match ban would see the Frenchman miss an FA Cup clash with Watford and league trip to former club Arsenal, in addition to the Potters’ clash.

The New Year brings a little more leeway now, with the Suspension Tightrope loosening considerably. Players now have to accrue 10 yellow cards to trigger an automatic suspension – if they reach that landmark by the second Sunday in April (Gameweek 33), they will be handed a two-match ban. So far, there are five players just three bookings away from – Luis Suarez, James Perch, Angel Rangel, Craig Gardner and Mark Noble have all received seven cautions apiece. Our sidebar widget has been updated accordingly and will be tracking all the way through to the April 14 date.

Elsewhere this week, Marouane Fellaini returns to the Everton fold for a trip to Newcastle after completing a three-match ban, while Mike Williamson will be hoping to help shore up the Magpies defence after he sat out the 7-3 loss at Arsenal due to a one-match ban. Stoke will be relieved Ryan Shawcross and Geoff Cameron are back in contention for the trip to City, having conceded three at home to Southampton in the duo’s enforced absence at the weekend. Fabian Delph is available for Villa once again, as Paul Lambert tries to address his side’s woeful form as they head to Swansea tomorrow.

    Hey folks

I have 1 FT and £0.7m in the bank.

    Begovic, Ruddy

    Nelsen, Enrique, Demel, Cuellar, Gorkks

    Mata, Michu, Bale, Walcott, Sterling

    RVP, Aguero, Berbatov

    Was thinking a -4 for:

    In: Sagna, Bassong
    Out: Enrique, Gorkks

    Thoughts please?
    Thank you,,,

why does mancini not just buy Bale? city would be amazing with him on the left wing. but he spends 20m on rodwell, buys sinclair, and lots of garbage when he could get anyone.

i think it would be a transfer that woulld improve their side immensely though, more so than buying 2 25m players. i think at 60-65 they would sell for sure, and while that is high, it would be worth it imo. he is still very young.

The problem is that city don't have a big role for their wingers, they're built around the centre. I'm not sure they could even guarantee bale a starting place. Look what happened to all their other wingers.

bale's very good at passing though, and is deadly when played more centrally. i actually prefer him more central than wide (although of course he is amazing out wide), because he can shoot like a beast. he also drifts past players with ease to open up a shot for himself. i think silvas through-balls for him to break onto would be off the wall.

    Just read whoscored previews.

They predict Mata will start and Lampard on the bench.

Mata did mention he want to play full.
And Lamps at his 30+ who played 90 min last time around won't probably be fit to play in 3 days.
But he did score a brace.

    Thoughts?

I'm risking Mata playing, I think Chelsea need to make sure they win and Mata is very important to that. Torres is the most nailed on right now, Mata is after him. Lampard could probably do with a rest I think.

Mata is easily the most essential player Chelsea have right now. Rafa better realize that.

General question to those who've been playing FPL some time; is it best strategy to play for value as well as points? To illustrate my point, if getting rid of Enrique would you consider Gibbs due to potential price-rise (and chance to gain extra team value before WC), even though Azpil/Nasty have more chance of an immediate points return this GW from a CS?

    Hope that makes sense!?

Highest points scorer in the game and has gotten a goal or assist in his last 7, Ithink it is risky going without.

If you are Arsenal Liverpool and Chelsea fans Im not that surprise if you don't want RVP. However RVP is the most consistent player in EPL Fantasy.

    PLEASE HELP ME!

which midfield/attack setup is best? (this would be my first purchase of RVP)

    1:Walcott, Bale, Michu, Felliani, Mata
    Torres, Suarez, Ruiz

    or

2: Walcott, Bale, Michu, Felliani, Marveaux
    RVP, Suarez, Ruiz

1 if you could somehow squeeze RVP in by downgrading your defence.

It is unconfirmed but I would be hesitant to captain him in case he is and then gets 15/20 mins.

my last bit of FPL action in 2012 and it's for a hit:

    Enrique + Tevez -> AssPillCutie + Ba.

Joey was watching the QPR game yesterday so he could be back. By the way have a word with Barny and tell him to stop picking on our Phil (The Power) Taylor 😉

Thoughts on Puncheon/Ba vs. Walcott/Pog? Bearing in mind Puncheon and Pog will be benched most weeks.
