The Rate My Team Tool (RMT) for members, rolled out on January 1, has been updated with some recent UI improvements, browser compatibility fixes and now also reflects the latest transfer moves and double Gameweeks.

Following yesterday’s FA Cup victory for Chelsea, we’ve added their additional fixture with Southampton to give both teams a double Gameweek and this is now shown in RMT for the players involved. The likes of Daniel Sturridge, Demba Ba and Joe Cole have also been moved to their new clubs so you can start building them into your RMT lineups to see how they are predicted to fare in the coming weeks. We will be updating RMT throughout the week as more team news comes in and the FPL update their squads with new player arrivals and players have their departure to the African Cup of Nations confirmed. I’ll keep members posted on the major updates each week.

In terms of fixes and improvements, following feedback from those using the tool early on, we’ve changed the method of removing players in order to make the took compatible with mobile devices. There have also been fixes for Internet Explorer and Chrome users.

There are still some bugs remaining in the “My Team” section when building a team from scratch. We’re looking to eliminate those, although we do plan to re-write the UI code for next season, so we’re aware that, with the comments system development our focus, some improvements may be shelved until the summer.

Nevertheless, RMT is up and running and providing our members with a new method of testing their theories, future transfers and team selection. During these Winter Wildcard times, it’s hopefully providing a useful new guide.

If you’re not a member and would like some more information on Rate My Team and how it can help you, view our two part previews, with part one here, and part two via this link. Half-Season memberships remain available for £10 with full information on the benefits, in addition to RMT, available via this page.

One query that has been raised which, perhaps requires further explanation, is based on the My Team view which recommends players in your squad that should be benched as subs in each Gameweek. Some users have noticed that RMT sometimes recommends players to be benched, even though they are predicted to score more heavily than a player in your lineup.

This is because RMT uses a probability of a player playing in a given Gameweek to calculate the average score shown in the table. However, behind the scenes, RMT also looks at a player’s likely score assuming that the player takes part in the match – e.g: it ignores the possibility that the player plays zero minutes. On occasions when this value is greater, it overrides the displayed average points when it comes to recommending your starting XI. As an example, if Robin Van Persie was a major doubt for Gameweek 22, RMT could still recommend playing him above another striker in your squad, even though the value shown to the user in the RMT table might be lower. As we know, you would often play Van Persie in this scenario and let the auto-subs take care of the rest: this tactic is reflected as a feature in the tool.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Thanks, one of my best festive seasons. Not that it's been great - but I'm usually dismal. I figure if I can avoid too much damage through the barrage of games, I can get to advancing during the second-half of the season.

Prob not. He's done light training. Conceivably could be back for Southampton I guess. But the latest word was 2-3 weeks n that was 2-3 days ago.

Back in light training but will miss 2-3 weeks still.

Slightly worried abou this as well; Cech may come back early.

Although an ideal return for him would be Arsenal at home.

    Caught at end of page:

Sorry to be a pain in the ass. But any thoughts on this team would be appreciated. can I get away without wildcarding until after DGW for arsenal?

    Begovic,
    Johnson, Gibbs. Nastasic
    Mata, Walcott, Santi Cazorla, Puncheon
    Suarez Berbatov, Torres

    Subs: Rudd, Figueroa, O'Brien, Kacaniklic

Got a transfer available which i may use for santi> Bale for this gameweek

Cheers in advance for any advice!

I think you look good for the DGW, however I would consider having some defensive coverage as well... historically attacking defenders do very well in DGWs... so if you can afford Ivanovic or Luiz, I'd consider one of them for Nastasic maybe...

OK I have another one, which asks the question, how would you prefer to be weighted for the Chelsea DGW... more in defense or more in attack?

Luiz & Mata with Turnbull & Lambert (+2m in bank for Podolski GW23)

    OR

Luiz & Mata with Tremmel & Ba (straight swap to Podolski GW23)

Not a fan of getting Turnbull in unless you're using WC. Lamber vs Ba is a tricky one because it may come down to Ba just playing the one game (likely to be Stoke) and Lambert involved in both.

      So...B.

I'm lining up the Ba -> Pod transfer in GW23 also, so I'd say the 2nd one. Although, I think you kinda have to get Turnbull given his assured starts and price, so maybe downgrade Luiz?

Cautionary tale, though, in GW8 (the last ten-day break), they didn't post the price rises until after the games kicked off on Saturday, so all the ones that would have went up by their second 0.1 on Friday night, didn't do so in time for you to take advantage of it. A few had already gone up by 0.2 earlier in the period, but not as many as I was hoping for when I tried to do that with my WC.

Begovic and Stoke won't keep as many clean sheets for a few weeks, so not having him isn't too much of a problem. Zabaleta is nailed on at City and they will start keeping opponents out, big teams always do mid-season. Ars defenders are a waste

I'm wondering the exact thing. AVB seems not to favour Caulker as much after Everton. Gallas is Gallas. Even Vert gets the odd rest.

If he got a run of starts he would be straight in alongside Baines, Rafa/Zab...

Perhaps worth a punt if you can get decent bench fodder behind him - ala Davies, Demel, Wilson...

He could play 2/3 in 4. Spurs look very solid - don't see them shipping many

I did the exact same aha. Firmly in the starting XI from then on.
Bales out of the questions, so either Fellaini or Michu. Tough one, p'raps make the call after the League cup game.

My team for double gw's so far no trades left no hits taken

    Foster, begovic

    Gibbs, azpy, Gunter, cuellar, Davies

    Mata, Walcott, Cazorla, morrisson, puncheon

    Rvp, Suarez, berb

0.1 short of Cazorla to bale so I was just going to take a hit to do to Cazorla to hazard, but really wanted bale for this game week. I am very tempted to wc after seeing all the strategies on here. What would you suggest after looking at my team? Can i wait till post ddgw? I will have 4 for this game week and then probably 3 for next with no hits

Mine has a good ranking, 40k, but I can't say his team fills me with fear. It's a shame about these bloody wildcards - you never k ow what you're going to gett! Hopefully he won't take it too seriously and bring in z6 dgwers.

Good luck to all of you still in it 🙂
