634x258 The Stock Check

A disappointing Monday night affair saw Southampton dominate the opening period, only to concede ground in the second-half as Everton gained superiority. With little on show for Fantasy managers, here’s the Monday night Stock Check…

On the Up

The Southampton Defence
A second clean sheet in the last three maintained the form of the much-improved Saints rearguard. With Artur Boruc making several key saves, he is presenting a seemingly assured budget option in goal for a 4.4 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) price tag, while both Luke Shaw and Nathaniel Clyne go on offering value for their 4.0 valuations.

Leighton Baines
In truth, the service from the Toffees left-back was not up to its usual standard but, having gained his second consecutive clean sheet, Baines delivered returns and, pre-bonus, is now just six points of the top of the FPL defender rankings. With West Brom and Villa at Goodison in the next two, further profits look on the cards for those who have kept the faith.

Going Down

Marouane Fellaini
It’s no goal in his last five starts for the towering Belgian. More significantly perhaps, the injury to Seamus Coleman forced a reshuffle that saw David Moyes shift him back to a deeper central midfield role and introduce Victor Anichebe up front. With Kevin Mirallas looking bright from the bench on his return from injury, Moyes has further attacking options and there will be slight concerns that the Everton boss may consider a change of position for Felliani having seen his side draw consecutive blanks.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Even if Fellaini is 'going down', surely now is not the time to get rid, with 4 of his next 5 fixtures being so attractive.

Thats the thing. He's so involved in their play with his aerial ability, that he's always good for bonus in the absence of high scores.

Is there any reason to worry about Stoke's defense? I didn't play Bego in any of the last four as I was expecting them to concede, Jaask did sod all mind. But I do expect Stoke to start racking up cleen sheets again.

Despite his pricetag i believe Patrice Evra is worth the coin ... he's always involved in set plays, is a beast on the headers and Man United will come home with wet sails ... he'll start racking up the cleanies and will leave Baines in his wake.

I put my money where my mouth is and brought him in this week ...

West Ham is still a better defensive team than Soton despite Soton's recent displays at the back.
WHU fixtures are better as well.

However Demel could get rotated once Big Sam signs a new fullback.

Home or away, you are never sure what STH are going to do when compared with, STK at home, say.

Had a look at him and he gets fwd but I think there are 5 better ubers out there. I'm currently considering:

Wisdom, Cuellar, Harte, Demel and Davies for the w/c next week.

Enrique due back on the 11th Feb according to physioroom, which means Wisdom is good for only 2 more games - the city game and the arsenal game.

Drop one of these 3 - Davies, Dawson, Wisdom.

Will be going for Onuoha instead of one of 'em, to free up some cash.

Dawson will probably be under the most threat of gametime. Wisdom has a month of fixtures left in him before Enq returns.

Im sure Lambert and Puncheon have been discussed already this evening (minus the 'he shits when he waaaaaaaaaaaaaant's' part), but I don't feel like looking back.

These two really jump out at me....FINALLY.....after today!!

Does anyone have both of them and are you planning on holding?

I reckon I could have one hell of a defence with those two. 2 or 3 of Bale, Mata, Walcott, Fellaini and MIchu....RVP.

What are you talking about? All I am saying is Puncheon to go with 2 or 3 of the bit hitters, and then Lambert to sit up front with RVP and Aguero, or RVP and Ba or something similar.

        ?

Just saying for 5m and 6.4(whatever Lamb is), that represents two great spots, and two great spots that I haven't given much of a chance to all season.

Bale to Punch and Ba to Lambert (not that that is something I would necessarily do just yet), would free money up to create a formidable squad!

They're both great value, but i'd question whether now is the time to bring them in given their tough run of fixtures coming up.... Fletcher or Benteke over Lambert in that price range for me if getting one in this week.... Puncheon is worth holding on to, even if he,s your 8th attacker each week.

This sounds about right. Fixtures + uncertainty over form (given recent events) = too many question marks. One or the other. Puncheon.

Threat from Vert, Caulker and Gallas when he's back. Him wearing the captains armband means nothing.

But I think he's a decent option to have at 4.5m for when he does play, can score the odd header too.
