A disappointing Monday night affair saw Southampton dominate the opening period, only to concede ground in the second-half as Everton gained superiority. With little on show for Fantasy managers, here’s the Monday night Stock Check…

On the Up

The Southampton Defence
A second clean sheet in the last three maintained the form of the much-improved Saints rearguard. With Artur Boruc making several key saves, he is presenting a seemingly assured budget option in goal for a 4.4 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) price tag, while both Luke Shaw and Nathaniel Clyne go on offering value for their 4.0 valuations.

Leighton Baines
In truth, the service from the Toffees left-back was not up to its usual standard but, having gained his second consecutive clean sheet, Baines delivered returns and, pre-bonus, is now just six points of the top of the FPL defender rankings. With West Brom and Villa at Goodison in the next two, further profits look on the cards for those who have kept the faith.

Going Down

Marouane Fellaini
It’s no goal in his last five starts for the towering Belgian. More significantly perhaps, the injury to Seamus Coleman forced a reshuffle that saw David Moyes shift him back to a deeper central midfield role and introduce Victor Anichebe up front. With Kevin Mirallas looking bright from the bench on his return from injury, Moyes has further attacking options and there will be slight concerns that the Everton boss may consider a change of position for Felliani having seen his side draw consecutive blanks.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Alternative to the previous one...

    Begovic, Bunn
    Nastasic, Dawson, Davies, Clyne, Demel
    Walcott, Bale, Mata, Fellaini, N'Diaye
    van Persie, Aguero, Sturridge

Better team, with Bale & Nasty. but not so sure with N'Diaye. Again, Fletch is the flavour of the week.

Could equally go N'Diaye --> Puncheon then Sturridge --> Fletcher, leaving the upgrade until Liverpool's good fixtures start and downgrading Dawson at that point.

Playing my wildcard this week and as I'm over 100pts off the top of my mini league, I have to have a few differentials. How does it look?

    Mignolet/Federici
    Baines/Azpilicueta/Cuellar/Wilson/£3.8m Reading def
    Walcott/Gerrard/Lampard/Puncheon/Kacklanic
    Aguero/Rooney/Fletcher

I know Cuellar and Wilson are injured but they are due back soon and I don't really need them for a couple of weeks. Puncheon and Kacklanic rotate well and will monitor the latter's game time. Baines may well become Glen Johnson in two weeks.

So I took a huge punt on Wilshere this DGW (for -4) in the hope that his goal against Swansea in the FACup might herald a start of FPL form.

    Feck all on Sunday.

What chance he will do anything at all on Weds?

If not he has to go. Would be nice to be first on a bandwagon though, eh?

With everyone fit, and available, our current line up would be:

      Marv--Cisse--Barfa
      -------Cabeye-------
      -----Tiote--Anita----

We really need to sign another forward. But the ones we have been linked with in the last couple of days haven't really been first team quality. So its possible we might buy a stop gap until the summer. Which would mean that marv has a good chance of keeping his place

    Bego (Jussi)
    Rafael, Luiz, Gibbs (Bassong, Demel)
    Mata, Walcott, Michu, Noble (Punch)
    Ba, Lambert, RVP.

    Wanted to to:

The Reds had another technically very good player not so long back.Jermaine Pennant's attitude didn't get him far. Rogers has said it's put up or shut up time for Sturridge. Let's hope he puts up. 🙂

In 1 game, at home to Norwich? He tapped the ball in from a yard out. He needs to do it week in and week out. He's 23 and had 4 clubs in past 4 years. I'll judge him at the end of the season, a season in which, until January he couldn't displace a poor Torres from the Chelsea team. I know he's quality but just saying he needs to show it more and show more teamwork like tracking back.

When given a decent run in the team he did well, on loan at Bolton and under AVB at Chelsea. I think part of his selfishness came from trying to prove he should be in the team by scoring, which was detremental to the team. It's all been a learning experience for him and if he is a regular starter at Liverpool I think he'll definitely do well.

    Need some feedback please!

For my WC draft defence I looked out the next 6 fixtures for all of my defence (1 GK + 5 DEF).
Out of a total 36 fixtures only 9 are against sides I consider especially dangerous (Spurs, Chelsea, City, Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal).

    That's good right?

Just to fill in some extra info my home/away rotation including my keeper gives me 3 home games out of 4 per week!

    Defence:

    Mignolet

    Zabaleta, Gibbs, Davies, Shaw, Harte

To be fair I'll almost never play Harte (3rd on bench). Zaba is good attacking wise and if I'm forced to play Harte he can maybe get an assist via Corners/Free Kicks or even a goal via Free Kicks/Penalty.

Scrap what I said about Harte getting a goal, only assist potential but that's fine at 3.8m

Good research for your defensive options. I like it, Zabaleta and Gibbs are solid options, though I'm not sure about Arsenal's clean sheet potential so you may be relying on attacking returns.

      Who is your other goalkeeper?

Other goalkeeper is Rudd haha. Really don't like spending on a pair of GK.

My current attack has power 4 + Puncheon (instead of Michu) and Aguero + Fletcher up top. Spending on a keeper means compromising on my beloved attack since I don't want to lose Zab/Gibbs.

How was him playing? From report, he still looked threatening and also got baps.

Power 5 question was inconclusive; Michu and Fellaini with 4 votes each, Bale with 3 votes and Walcott with 2 votes (Mata had 0 votes)

Strike partnership: Suarez / Silva (62%) vs. Aguero / Sturridge (38%)

            WC essentials:
            van Persie (92%)
            Juan Mata (84%)
            Michu (69%)
            Theo Walcott (62%)

I'm thinking there'll be goals in the game at the Emirates between Arsenal and Liverpool though.

Evening all! Really loving life, and this game at the moment. Green arrows for four weeks now.

Haha I just looked at GW20............5 moves, 12pt hit, and still greenies!!! I had 8 players playing ffs!!!! Funny old game this.

Anyway, back to things at hand. Providing there are no suspensions and/or big injuries (and obviously the last week or so of the transfer window to bear in mind), what would you do with this team............

    Bunn
    Martin Gibbs Davies
    P5
    RVP Ba

    vorm, pog, demel, harte.

I have 2 FT's and 0.1m in the bank, and rather than (although I will do it a million more times this week im sure), showing my ideas, im gonna ask for some here.

It seems as if that since I have geared my mid towards the P5, I have been rising. Hard to shift any! 🙁
