634x258 The Stock Check

A disappointing Monday night affair saw Southampton dominate the opening period, only to concede ground in the second-half as Everton gained superiority. With little on show for Fantasy managers, here’s the Monday night Stock Check…

On the Up

The Southampton Defence
A second clean sheet in the last three maintained the form of the much-improved Saints rearguard. With Artur Boruc making several key saves, he is presenting a seemingly assured budget option in goal for a 4.4 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) price tag, while both Luke Shaw and Nathaniel Clyne go on offering value for their 4.0 valuations.

Leighton Baines
In truth, the service from the Toffees left-back was not up to its usual standard but, having gained his second consecutive clean sheet, Baines delivered returns and, pre-bonus, is now just six points of the top of the FPL defender rankings. With West Brom and Villa at Goodison in the next two, further profits look on the cards for those who have kept the faith.

Going Down

Marouane Fellaini
It’s no goal in his last five starts for the towering Belgian. More significantly perhaps, the injury to Seamus Coleman forced a reshuffle that saw David Moyes shift him back to a deeper central midfield role and introduce Victor Anichebe up front. With Kevin Mirallas looking bright from the bench on his return from injury, Moyes has further attacking options and there will be slight concerns that the Everton boss may consider a change of position for Felliani having seen his side draw consecutive blanks.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

On WC and just realised(realised yest infact) that from RVP(14.1) to Sturridge(7.4) there is no one i feel i need or want, while from Mata(10) to Fellaini(7.6) there are atleast 7 mids i want.. Officially goin for a big 5 mid (Mata Fellaini Silva Bale Walcott)

meh.. Silva!!! i dont see any mid below fellaini(7.6) providin worthwhile value to compare with 9+ mids, while i can see sturridge, Fletcher, Remy, Lambert etc doin beautifully for the season and gettin pretty close numbers to the 9+ forwards

aguero will score better than silva and be more explosive.

rvp aguero studge is the frontline to go with imo. and you can always swap studge for fletcher remy lambert etc

and thats why you have 4 big mids and marveaux/guthrie as bench fodder

i've had ba since he was 7.7 and i'm cashin in.. i'd want suarez if there was'nt a 3 mill cheaper alternative in sturridge.. and aguero is far too pricy since i'd prob be captainin rvp the rest of the season and i only pay premium for captaincy options 🙂

I'm going the big 5 too, but I can definitely think of a few strikers I'd have between RVP & Studge. Namely Suarez & Aguero.

So are you going big 5 + RVP & Studge?

If you're going big 5 then no point in having RVP, Studge & Fletch. May as well have a cheapie. I wouldn't be comfortable benching any of that 8 on any given week, let alone every single week.

I'm going RVP, Aguero & Pog with the big 5. Gotta remember that Utd will have CL games with Madrid coming up and beyond that who knows. RVP will be rested. And Aguero is a ready made capt replacement. I also think he is going to explode soon. That injury came on a run of two consecutive 11pters. Gotta find room for him

Morning Snake - I just had a look at your team. Noticed no Mata, but Ba. Are you planning on going without Mata from here on in?

I have both Santi & Walcott and have already sold Santi for Felli on my WC. Villa have conceded something like 9 goals in there last 4 games. Although EVE have scored none in their last 2, I can see Eve scoring and Felli doing better then Santi(vs Livpool)

Hey Tina. I sacrificed Mata to get Santi for the DGW. The plan was to get Juan back for next GW; although I just may leave it for GW25 with 2 FTs. I fancy ARS-LIV to be a high-scoring affair.

Having no Everton cover for the next 2 GWs scares me.

My problem is I have a gut feeling about Bale(I shit myself whenever he stands behind the ball for a FK, ala Ronaldo days). So I'm getting him on my WC.

Walcott is doing ok for a change in my team, although I missed his hatty(grrrr...)and I'm just holding on to him since everyone has him. Ideally I would like to drop him. Mata and Michu ain't going anywhere.

Which brings me to EVE, who I feel will do well over next 5 fix(ManU excl). If it's Felli I go for then I end up with the p5 , which causes problems up front.

Maybe Baines? 2 CS in two, and shirley Everton will get close to 9 CS as per last two seasons?

Yeah, I fell asleep on the couch after 20 min and read he was useless.

I think I'm giving Kun a miss for now. Qpr will keep it tight, if he does well then so be it.

I'm back on P5 + pog I'm afraid. Unless I go for Baines.

Any Opinions on bringing in Aguero, he’s down to 10.9 now but seems to have good form but has had some injuries to contend with. City have good fixtures and someone has to score their goals.

Potential Kun owners, here are the pressing issues surrounding the City strikeforce:

      1. Tevez has declared that he won't sign an extension; will this development piss Mancini off?
      2. Dzeko has been getting starts but there's always the possibility that Mancini will revert to the strikeforce that led City to the title last season - Kun and Tevez
      3. Balo's move to Milan will occur in the summer (agent has stated that he's going nowhere this January); Mancini loves him and will surely get some PT down the line

Give it a game or 2 before snapping up Kun. See how all of this pans out.

Would appreciate opinions on my WC team. I'm thinking its too unbalanced and has one or two too many punty picks; but I just can't help but think that my front 7 will cover for my poor DF and the weeks when Nasty, DDG are rotated.

    DDG - 3.9
Nasty - Davies - Clyne - Mariappa - Demel (Wilson when back)
    The big 5
    RVP - Aguero - Pog

    What do you think?

      I'm getting him in actually.
Yeah there's rotation risk with Europe coming up and all but I'll take my chances.

The only way I can get a MU City Stoke Tott defense without spending much.

      Flap flap flap.

Probably a better option at the moment BG, I just don't trust him. Spurs failed to put him under any real pressure on Sunday from corners and crosses. Other teams may not be as accommodating.

Mignolet at 5.2 is a great option imo.

        It's basically;

        Bego – £5.1m
        Mignolet – £5.2m
        DDG – £5.5m

          Szcesney?

No-one is talking about Szcesney, despite owning Gibbs. Every time I log on I seem to be convincing people to get him!

Szczesney + Stoke / WHU defender FTW

Wilson won't be back until late Febr (GW 27) I reckon. Even if you have 4 other defenders, don't think you want to miss Stoke vs RDG and WIG?

Davies or Demel IMO. Make the switch to Wilson when he's fit

Can't squeeze in 0.1 to get Dawson?

Well if you want to take a punt with Wilson it might pay off nicely if he do return on GW 26. That's a big if though.

But there's no other good choice either currently in the market. Bramble is one and you can switch to Wilson after. But it all depends on Cuellar's return which we still don't know when.

Clyne is ist choice for me Acqua atm. I worry about long term injuries (Wilson) that they often take a fair few weeks playing in time as well.
Is Onuoha first 11 all the time? I've not really followed QPR closely, unless I need a laugh.

Really he would be back by then?

I thought that was the initial expected return but with the snow and all Pulis mentioned his return might be delayed as he can't get Wilson to do his training in this weather.

Nah, I will give him a miss. I should have doubled up when I wanted, way back when stoke had a good run. Those that did profited big time.

assuming cuelller and wilson aren't back from injury, looks like it'll end up like this:

    afro, studge, dawson, bego
    vs
    michu, suarez, gibbs, mig

gunna be a cracking tie lateriser 😀
