Can't understand how people rate Michael Carrick. Terrible, negative player. Might seem alright because he's United's only holding MF, but compared to any top quality CDMs he doesn't even come close

I think I just understand a bit more about the game now than I did. Also his distribution was lazy then, seemed to take the easy option all the time and get caught out..

Its not contoversial, just plain wrong. Otherwise why would Fergie have Carrick as one of the first names on the teamsheet for every game (except when he needs a rest)? Listen to any ex player...he's a great player.

i'm not the biggest fan of players like carrick and barry! they are regarded as defensive midfielders yet they don't make as many tackles and offer as much protection as players like scott parker and diaby do! maybe i'm missing something, just my opinion! i wouldn't call carrick a terrible player though, i rated him at tottenham
A poor man's Pirlo in my opinion. Not a world beater, but certainly a good, cultured midfielder. You certainly have to be good to be first choice for Man Utd. Telling though how he's always anonymous against the very best teams in Europe...

For the first time this season, I took a risk and brought in Sturridge over Suarez.
Lesson learned. Always play it safe, at least until you are playing catch-up.
I'm thinking more along the lines of stupidity rather than bravery right now...
Just thinking, I don't think people (like myself) who already had Sturridge and haven't captained him will be that bothered if he doesn't start.
The ones who'll be kicking themselves are the ones that (a) brought him in this week or (b) captained him (or both!), knowing that there was a doubt hanging over him. However, the ones with balls will not moan about it on here because they knew the risk they were taking.
