With Liverpool facing a blank Gameweek this time round, sales of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge are picking up pace. The Uruguayan has so far seen over 73,000 owners part company, while Sturridge has been moved on by 38,000+, despite a strong set of fixtures to follow. Indeed, with an upcoming schedule that pits Brendan Rodgers’ side against four of the current bottom six in their next six fixtures from Gameweek 28 onwards (wig, TOT, sou, avl, WHM, rea), we analyse the performances of the pair since Sturridge’s arrival from Chelsea last month:

Last thing before I go// some of Balotelli's tweets!
"Liverpool XI: Irrelevant; Irrelevant, Irrelevant, Irrelevant, Irrelevant; Irrelevant, Irrelevant, Irrelevant; Irrelevant, Suarez, Irrelevant"
"#BestFootballChants He's Bald, he's Red, he sleeps in Fergie's bed, Howard Webb. Howard Webb!"
"I'd rather take a headbutt off a train than take a headbutt off Nemanja Vidić."

B. fellaini & evansOpen Controls-

B, but fellaini Evens and Silva will probably have blank on week 29 =(

that's the real worry. i really hope they will shift the games to midweek.

If we do get everton, arsenal, fulham, united, city and chelsea blanks, who are we getting rid of from the template and for who in midfield?
Assuming the template is Bale, Wall, Fell, Michu, Mata.
Assume most of us got them all early so would lose significant value in all of them.Open Controls-

Wondering if I've missed something really obvious. Isn't coloccini the best Newcastle defender to transfer in? Nailed on, goal threat, captain? Or has he recently become a professional darts player or something?

goal threat?

As a Newcastle fan I believe (and sincerely hope) we're going to be a better team for the rest of the season than we have been so far, but the groundswell of support for our defence is surprising me. Ok, the fixtures are inviting but I'd be much more inclined to invest in the attacking side of the team than the defence.
Question (cheat if you want but where's the fun in that?) How many clean sheets have Newcastle kept in their 26 league games so far?Open Controls-
Heco and China Mag reckon that Williamson is not in the picture anymore. There was injury trouble wasn't there? Everyone is fit now.
Open Controls-
There was, we're definitely in better shape than previously now we have our first choice defence available and a better midfield, it just feels a bit punty. I suppose it's the number of people I've seen making the move which surprises me.
Open Controls-
See my blog on this topic (social proof) in my link.
I think the key here is that these aren't necessarily the moves people are actually making, rather perceived movesOpen Controls-
Nice, I remember reading that at the time - was inspired by Baines wasn't it?
Perhaps, I've definitely noticed a trend over the last week or so of Santon or Debuchy questions though.Open Controls-
Well Baines happened to be one of the main topics at the time but I'd been thinking about it for a while.

3?
Their upcoming fixtures are about the best of anyone and I think most are bringing in their fullbacks in the hope of attacking returns.Open Controls-
Yep, good fixtures and hopefully a tighter ship generally, just haven't seen anyone question the logic really.
Open Controls

Grr, you spoiled the game by guessing too low! 🙂
It's 4. 1 in the last 8 games.Open Controls-
The same as Everton then. I've got Santon and i'm hopeful of attacking returns if he doesn't keep CS's.
Open Controls-
Yep, although Everton have conceded fewer which (rightly or wrongly) makes me feel they're closer to clean sheet potential.
I'm not really trying to persuade people not to make the move and I do get the logic, I'm just surprised at the popularity of our defence all of a sudden.
I hope it works out 🙂Open Controls

and i would rather have Norwich defensive cover rather than Newcastle from gw29 onwards. don't get this Toon defensive love at all. Norwich has good fixtures and have shown they can keep cs as well. but like you said Toon attack is really tempting to overlook.Open Controls -

Probably sell Fellaini but keep the rest. We'll want them for their DGWs

I have 1 Man United, 1 Chelsea, 1 Everton and 2 Arsenal... If all everton, arsenal, fulham, united, city and chelsea do have blanks, then I will probably sell 1 Arsenal and bench the rest and play 10...

If you had, say, 15,000 people (or an influential website). I suppose you could manipulate the market and end up with a team worth £££££ .
Any other barriers to having proper prizes for fpl?Open Controls-
I don't think gaining lots of additional 0.1s will help you win FPL too much. Sounds like a lot of effort for very little.

Rvp seems sensible choice although still tempted by walcott. If I knew rvp was starting it would be an easy decision, consensus seems to be that he will so...

RVP, Bale/Wally (vc)

Bank robbers giggs boson?Open Controls-
I think that tips over the edge, yeah. I don't mean castration, just make it impossible for them to procreate. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time. A harsher punishment should reduce crime.
Open Controls-
Hmm have to disagree with you there. People think they won't get caught. Look at America, harsher penalties just leads to more problems to an extent
Open Controls-
Death penalty is too final. But people are aware of the punishment before they commit the crime. It's their own fault.
Open Controls
-
-
-
-
-
-
actually all this media buzz has made the country stand up and take notice and we expect a few stern steps to curb this nonsense.
Open Controls-
Well that has to be a good thing. Not sure I'd go as far GB though... I think punishments work well when they can be undone in case of appeal or wrongful conviction and probably shouldn't be as vengeful...
Open Controls-
It's just stopping a plague before it gets out of hand. Wrongful convinctions are unfortunate, but there's always adoption. It's for the greater good.
Would you kill a baby to save the lives of 10 babies?Open Controls -
you are right but an example is needed to be set. as giggs said above "don't do the crime if you can't do the time" which is somewhat the model that the authorities are looking at. but having said that India i think is one of the safest places in south Asia at the moment and it's only getting better.

hey buddy. i only got suarez and have convinced myself to keep. if this black wasnt around the corner i would be getting rid and potentially looking at the sturridge. looks terrific value

The more I think about it, the less I get this Newcastle defence bandwagon.
Their defensive record over the last 6 aren't encouraging and the stats don't help either.
Only four teams have conceded more big chances over the last 6 and they're in the bottom half of the table when you look at shots conceded in the box over the last 6.
What exactly are people expecting? A miracle turnaround?Open Controls-
newcastle defensive investment doesn't interest me either. it's non availability of options i think that's getting people aboard the Toon ship but personally Norwich looks much better from gw29 onwards to me.
Open Controls -
Main appeal for me was decent fixtures and a game in GW 29.
Open Controls-
-
I guess that's what people are seeing.
It's a case of the potential for improvement rather than a good defence that is causing people to turn to them.
Not sure that's a good tactic.Open Controls
-
-
It's the fixtures, increased form, returning players, attacking threat and decent prices. Potential is there but I'm certainly not rushing to get any in. Attackers make more sense
Open Controls -
See above for my comment on this topic! 😉
Open Controls -
I was looknig at this a couple of weeks ago. You get some lovely rotation with MCY, LIV, SWA and NOR, but I've since changed my mind.
For 1 m less you can get a Reading defender who has a similar spread of fixture (very similar in fact). It just seems cazy to punt that extra million for no guaranteed improvement.Open Controls

Does anyone reckon podolski will get the start this weekend? I'd love to captain him for differential but realistic fears of a 10 minute cameo
Open Controls-
I think there's a chance he could be benched. If not, he's likely to get subbed off before 75 anyway IMO. Giroud will surely start, then it could easily be 1 of Gervinho/Ox on the other side to Walcott. I wouldn't risk it.
Open Controls-
Think I'll get giroud this week if Rooney isn't sure to start. Then sell him for one of Suarez, Rooney or Aggy next gw
Open Controls
-
-
I have him also, not for long more. Came off on 70mins last game, I actually believe he will start, and as Demi said will come off early. That wouldn't bother me, I think Villa will have major problems in this one.

Choose:
1. Power 5 + RVP + sturridge + Pog + 1.5m
2. Power 5(with sissoko in for fellaini) + RVP + Sturridge + Lambert
#Longterm planOpen Controls-
May be reading this wrong, but doesn't 2 become a power 4. No a fan of having Pog at all, with Mata, RVP etc open to rotation.
Open Controls -
can it still be a Power 5 without one of the Power 5?
in any case, 2.Open Controls -
2 I looked at, but it becomes a rotation nightmare I think(ok maybe not this week...)as Sissoko/Sturr/Lamb should play week in week out.
Maybe I'm wrong though...?Open Controls -
I prefer Option 2 but it gives you more of a benching headache.

Need to get rid of either Enrique or Bertrand this week. Wanted it to be Bertrand, but I only have 0.5 in the bank - can anyone think of a good buy for 4.4?
Open Controls-
-
Anyone who isn't Bertrand?
Depends on the rest of your defence really. For that kind of money you're stuck with a rotator. Turner if you don't have him?Open Controls-
Rest of the defence is Zabaleta, Enrique, Harte and Davies.
Turner might be a good option, I probably wouldn't be playing them much at all after this week.Open Controls-
I'd get Turner then.
I'm going to go Hughes > Harte (or do I mean Pearce?? can never remmeber which is which) this week, which would, erm, give us exactly the same defence. It works well.Open Controls
