Gareth Bale has handed Tottenham and his legion of Fantasy managers a major scare this evening having sustained an ankle injury in their Europa League tie. The Welshman turned his ankle late on in the 2-2 draw with FC Basel which resulted in him being stretchered from the field.

Right now, we have no confirmation on the severity of the injury with Andre Villas-Boas offering this vague prognosis post-match:

“He rolled on his ankle, at the moment there is a lot of pain, but hopefully not as bad as it could have been.”

Early reports also suggest that the Spurs boss confirmed that the injury will be assessed fully in the next 24-hours with sources stating that he expects the player “to miss no more than two matches”.

Bale looks set to sit out the encounter with Everton this weekend and, with a blank fixture looming in Gameweek 33, suddenly his Fantasy owners will be surely be considering selling on a player who, in the last two months, has looked simply unstoppable.

Bale has scored eight goals in his last eight league starts, leading to a huge level of investment in the Fantasy Premier League game which has seen his price rise from 9.8 to 10.9. Now, with the possibility of an absence for the next two Gameweeks and beyond, we could see a dramatic shift in that trend as Bale is sacrificed to make way for assets set to enjoy two fixtures in Gameweek 33.

We now wait on further updates from White Hart Lane.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hmmm, looking at this page and the flurry of Bale musings, maybe we should look at the move as who is most likely to replace what Bale would have been: decent 32/33, future dgw, nailed on...Silva might be the man. Hazard, too -- like both more than Gerrard since the dgw looms for either.

I am looking at Silva and Townsend, depending if I want to get Berbatov or Rooney.

      How's the bracket looking?

Already have Maloney for cheap, can't find a dgw mid I like with a fixture that works for this week. Might hold, assuming his price is frozen. My other issue is that if I sell Bale for anyone less than Hazard/Silva/Mata, I will surely spend that money elsewhere, thus making it near impossible to get him back without a hit...

Brackets start gw33 -- will do a spreadsheet next week but shared the matchups in an epic post earlier in the week:

I think I'm going to do Bale > Gerrard.

A Suarez hattrick and a yellow card means Luis > Rooney for the double and leaves Gerrard vs Reading next week. Liverpool also have quite a good record vs Chelsea at home ( beat them 4-1 last year ) so could keep him until 34 and a straight swap for Silva. It's not much, but it's a plan.

I'd go for Rooney > Suarez. It's scary not owning Suarez, even when he doesnt score he hits the post and has numerous one-on-ones etc.....

However, losing Roon is also a big risk, especially with DGW coming up

I'm WC next week so I think this move makes a lot of sense:
-can get rid of Suarez for free even if he get his 10th yellow
-can get Rooney (or RVP) next week for no additional cost

and as you say, it'll be scary not owning Suarez against WHU

This Bale news is a right pain in the backside.......No idea who to replace him with.

All my carefully laid plans are in tatters now......was all set on Michu & Mata > Afro & Wally for free next week. Now I'm going to have to sell Bale instead of Mata, and the two players I want are not ready yet for this GW.

Should I bring in Hazard or Gerrard instead?

Yeh it's true I can but I'm nnot sure if it's worth keeping hold of Bale through his injury. He's expensive for a start, and I can see him getting eased back into things. Think it will probably be 3 miniumum, possibly 4 GWs before he's bringing the points home again.

Is it worth it to hold such a player when you can buy him back for a similar price in the future when you know he's fit and ready?

I agree. But saving this GW allows you to do 3 transfers before 33 for a -4.

You can get Bale out then. Your call bud. Hazard is definitely tempting this GW.

I hit the transfer button last night, didnt require too much thought in my opinion. Wanted Silva anyways, in prep for good fixtures and a future double, and Bale can be re-signed for a small loss in time for the double if he does return to fitness, if he doesnt then its better to have shot first. Besides, with a team value of nearly 110mln I can afford to "unlock" some of that value in order to maximise double gameweek chances as they arise.

Yeh I'm getting rid too, no point in having all that cash sat on the bench, and like you said he will dropping in value for sure so shouldnt lose too much to get him back.

Not sure about Silva though, just because City are not the same side as last season and Silvas form has been very patchy.

Come the City double I'd consider him course (not much else you can rely on in their team), but for now not for me.

Good luck anyway. Hope it comes off for you!

i like silva but he's so inconsistent this year. look at his history. never had a couple of good GWs in a row.

if i get hazard i can ditch mata for wally next week.

As I don't wanna double on Chelsea with 'Azzar (own Mata)

Which do you guys think is the best replacement for Bale?

    A) Silva
    B) Gerrard
    C) Anyone else

Mids atm are: Santi, Mata, Michu, Schneiderlin

      B) Gerrard

The thing is, do we really think Chelsea vs. Sunderland will be a blowout? Remember, new manager might instill some confidence into them, may be tough to break down if they play disciplined.

I think Liverpool game is the most likely to be a blow out..

But I also think Silva is the best pick for GW33.

          So I'm stumped..

Playing my WC this week then - almost there, just need to decide on the best of the below options - votes please....

    A) Baines, Hazard/Mata & Sissoko
    B) Turner & 2 of Hazard/Mata/Silva/Gerrard

    De Gea, Robles
    xxx, Sagna, Dawson, Wilson, Demel
    Santi, Fellaini, xxx, xxx, Maloney
    RVP, Suarez, Berbatov

B gives more options for getting Walcott next week if he's confirmed fit.

Swaying towards B with either Mata & Hazard or Mata/Hazard & Gerrard. I think Silva can wait till GW35 given he has 2 tough fixtures in the next 3.

Who to choose to swap for Bale for at least the next two weeks?

    A. Hazard
    B. Silva
    C. Michu
    D. Gerrard

    Thanks all 🙂

Silva is the way to go but would take a gamble on Hazard.

Who are you to say who is the way to go? Are you an oracle or something?

Not sure that Silva is the way to go, for starters they away to Man u , not the best fixture.

Im thinking i will take a punt on Hazard , Chelsea may not have a double yet ,but they do have more games to play than anyone else

I fancy Silva getting some points at Old Trafford, and I thought his following fixture against WIG would be great as well. Like I said, Hazard would be best.

Than state it's your opinion, rather than stating HE IS the way to go.. 🙄

I'm as chilled. A bit bad luck for me to stumble upon a woman on her period.
