A stunning Sergio Aguero effort silences Old Trafford, puts the brakes on United’s title charge and hands City the three points. Here’s the Stock Check from Monday night’s pulsating Gameweek climax.

On the Up

Sergio Aguero
Not fit enough for the starting XI according to his manager, Ageuro’s introduction nonetheless proved devastating as his sublime finish capped a powerful run across the United defence to seal the City win. The Argentine has suffered a stuttering season but, having failed to start a game since Gameweek 27, he could yet be a factor in our Fantasy season’s as a potential differential if City can use tonight’s result as a springboard for an end of season flourish.

Matija Nastasic
Restored to the starting lineup at the expense of Joleon Lescott after missing the win over Newcastle through injury, the young Serb looks to back installed as the first choice partner for skipper Vincent Kompany. At just 5.3 in the Fantasy Premier League, Nastasic presents a cheap route into a City defence that offers the potential of strong returns over the remaining fixtures, with a double Gameweek also in the offing.

Going Down

Robin Van Persie
The Dutchman’s run without a goal continues. While Van Persie earned praise from his manager post-match and provided the whipped cross for the Vincent Kompany own goal, his contribution went unrewarded and handed him another blank. Van Persie has now scored just one league goal in his last eight league appearances and, with Rooney also failing to impress on his return to fitness, United’s forward line looked jaded ahead of their double Gameweek. Those two fixtures will doubtless stem the tide of Van Persie sales but, if he fails to convert against Stoke and West Ham, we can surely expect his ownership to decline markedly for the final fixtures – particularly if United claim the title early.

Nemanja Vidic
Having started the last five in the league, the commanding Serb was absent tonight as he failed to shake off a knock which meant that Sir Alex Ferguson started with Phil Jones alongside Rio Ferdinand in central defence. Clearly, along with Jonny Evans and perhaps even Rio Ferdinand, it’s very doubtful whether Vidic will start both of United’s double Gameweek fixtures. Patrice Evra and David De Gea still look the most assured defensive options on show.

David Silva
Forced off with a hamstring problem at the death, it’s being reported that City have commented post-match that the Spaniard looks a doubt for the FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea on Sunday which will also cause concern for Fantasy managers ahead of his Gameweek 33 fixture against Wigan the following Wednesday.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Just looking at RVPs stats this season, to see what to expect when I will own him for the first time.

Looking at his stats from February until now: 45 shots 23 shots on goal(1 goal, not accounting for international games)

Conversion rate for Arsenal last season: Goals per shots 5.8, Goals per shots on target 2.73
Conversion rate for United this season: Goals per shots 5.789, Goals per shots on target 2.63

Recent form has been poor, but I am surprised to see that he actually has not been underperforming in terms of conversion rate over the course of the season. So I guess I should not be expecting for too much from him, still gonna own him though.

I dont know he has been getting more than every second shot on target recently, that is better than his normal rate of shooting. I think he just has been unlucky for the past few weeks. With his conversion rate returning to the mean. He looks to be due IMO

Van Persie isn't one of those players like, for example Bent or Shearer, where shots off target = off form.

RVP is a bit of a blaster, shots flashing just off target are often the sign he's playing well.

Well stats have shown that historically shots on target usually get saved with the same rate for the same players(BC they take similar type of shots). Also a good indicator is shots on target from inside the box(which I dont have a source for)

Kind of: 9 goals in his last 14, 4 in his last 10. But he really has not look worn out like he did for Arsenal. I think he will chip in with about 6 goals if he plays the next games.

I would say Rooney is the most likely to get two starts. RVP didn't look QUITE so tired tonight, but he's still very tired.

All guessing games really, once we assume RVP and Rooney are generally likely to start, Welbeck is medium-to-unlikely and Hernandez is unlikely.

mine currently is Guys that are nailed on are Fellaini, Maloney/Gomez, I will also have at least 1 Arsenal midfielder, than either 1 more arsenal mid or Pienaar, the 5th mid will be someone with a DGW in the future and hopefully a good fixture this GW(Silva, Che mid)

Yeah good point, I would like to find a cheap alternative but there dont seem to be many if any. I might just take a punt on someone like Lennon or a WBA mid, and just play the wigan mid this week. or 4 defenders. 2 wigan mids may also come into play, if the budget may ask for it.

    Baines Sagna O`Brien
    Cazorla Fellaini Silva Sissoko
    RVP(C) Giroud Berbatov

    Robles Maloney Figueroa Davies

    0.7 in the bank.

How does this DGW team look? Not able to afford both Baines and Suarez and I think that Baines will do well...

Which would you do? Both for a -4

    A) sissoko & benteke --> fellaini & berba = 8 dgw players
    B) jevans & mata --> baines & fellaini = 7 dgw players

B would mean I would have 1 less player for dgw 36 but I wouldn't need to change my defence for the rest of the season (theoretically)

People buying Baines this week, are you buying him in the hope of at least 1 clean sheet, or are you pinning all your hopes on attacking returns?

I don't see Everton getting a clean sheet in the 2 games, and I'm not sure if spending 7.6 in the hope of some attacking returns is worth it.

A CS against QPR is certainly possible and he could get attacking returns in both games. GW34-35 have potential too.

I would not buy Baines this week. I am glad I have him, but I don't think he is worth the price to bring in as a DGW asset unless you are flush.
