No thrills. Few spills. Just two men in a room talking about Fantasy Football.

Granville and I handed Jonty and the “Professor” an extended pre-season and rolled the ScoutCast back to its rawest form. Just myself and the Mancunian sharing our thoughts after a summer break and looking forward to another Fantasy campaign.

We talk double Gameweek assets, I roll out the van Persie duvet, Granville reveals more than he should about his team lineup and, around all that, we assess the early bandwagons and preview the weekend fixtures.

Forty-five minutes of two blokes talking about the stuff that’s rattling around in most of our heads right now.

It’s good to be back.

Eavesdrop on the conversation via this link or earwig via the handy player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Any thoughts on if this no defense/no RVP team is one bridge too far on no defense?

    Mignolet(Harper)
    Amorebieta/Turner (Norwich)/Yoshida (Ward) (Yanga-Mbiwa)
    Mata/Hazard/Silva/Carzola(Schneiderlin)
    Lambert/Benteke/Berbatov

I swapped out Walcott for Carzola, given the slight knock, which cost me a 5.0 defender.

The money you saved in defense doesn't show throughout the rest of the squad...Midfield is stacked yes...but then the front line gets flaccid

I like the choices in defence. Yanga-Mbiwa is a risk, but Newcastle have 3 home fixtures out of 4 starting gw2.
I'm not convinced, though, about any of your front 3. Could be a massive weakness.

Am I mad to go for considering Gunnarsson, Cardiff's joint top scorer last season, over Kim who only scored twice?

I don't know anything about Gunnarsson so can't comment on that! But I believe Kim was playing in a more withdrawn role last time out. Similar story to Dorrans at Brom...they could both surprise a few people this season!

I follow the championship being a Charlton fan and Gunnarsson always seemed a bright spark for Cardiff and with no outstanding triker he was one of the key midfielders to chip in with the odd goal.

Kim is a good option too but feel his preseason form, and Gunnarsson's has overshadowed his potential.

That was meant to say Gunnarsson's injury which has kept him out of most of preseason, perhaps Kim will be less prominent after his return, or maybe they will both return well.

      Expensive keeper with terrible fixtures?

Not a fan of that midfield either. Why Yaya when Silva is just 0.5 more? Why Oscar and Ramires if you don't even have Hazard?

And four attacking DGW players? Unless you're wildcarding, GW3 is going to be a nightmare.

      Just my thoughts.

I want him because of his fixtures. H's going to rack up save points, and will probably keep a cleanie or two in those fixtures as well. Plus, I can just start him week in week out and never have a selection headache in that spot.

"John will get the nod at left-back in the absence of the suspended Andrew Taylor, part of a new-look defence which will feature Ben Turner and new signing Steven Caulker as the preferred combination in the middle".

According to some Welsh article posted Turner is preferred to Brayford. Wait and see what info we get from press conferences tomorrow.

Personally i'm not sure what to make of it. They signed Brayford and Caulker this summer and paid good money for them too. Mark Hudson was their player of the year last season and played alongside Turner. It's anyone's guess.

        Negative.

Turner is holding down the central fort with Caulker.

Connolly is the one that has snuck ahead of Brayford at RB

wow... i caught up... 10 pm local time for me... have skimmed all comments & articles from last dead zone when i fell asleep to now for useful information... and only two thoughts stand out

    - Lukaku... don't like owning him but fear not owning him for the DGW because he can be explosive...

    - Podolski is incredibly under-owned... with Arteta out for six weeks, Arsenal needs his 10 assists from last season (never mind the 11 goals)... also, of note, among Cazorla, Walcott, Giroud & himself, he is the clear #2 in points per minute played (averaged 6.66 points per 90 minutes)

of course, I have to drop Lukaku to make space for Podolski... or wait until GW2... and I fear the Lukaku and don't have a better 3rd Chelsea punt after the obligatory Hazard and defense punts... meh

Could use with some input on this...Planning to bring in rvp around gw3/4...so trying to figure out the ideal team balance

    Gk: boruc/foster...(9.5m)
    Def: (D1=5m) ward chester murner (D5 = 4.5m).....(23m)
    Mid: wally (M2=9m) miralas (M4=6m) koren.....(36.5m)
    Fwds: soldado rvp (F1=7.5m)

I have indicated the players who I will def have by the time I bring in rvp. I think the biggest debate is to hw much to spend on the 3rd striker

Your 5.0 def should be Toure if Liverpool don't sign another CB.

      9.0 mid could be Silva/Navas/Cout.

Options for your 7.5 striker can be Remy, Berba and Lambo of course, just monitor their form.

    My team.
    Foster
    Koscielny, Toure, Zambaleta
    Mirallas, Hazard, Walcott, Coutinho
    Lukaku, Giroud, Soldado
    Subs: Boruc, Brayford, Chester, Morrison.
    Bank:0.0

    lots of concerns.

    1) whether to bring in Mignolet for foster. And change Toure to a Turner(Norwich) or Toure to Rat and Boruc to 4.0GK.
    2) Local newspaper reported that Brayford wont start this week.
    3) I’m not sure of Morrison. I took him since Thomas is injured but West Ham has lots of CM options, so i dont know whether he’s nailed.
    4) About DGW coverage, should I bring in Terry for Zambaleta.

Toure is better value for Liverpool defense than Migs.

Brayford and Morrison not starting shouldn't be an issue, because your team is structured such that you never play them.

Terry isn't a good option. Will probably only feature in 1 match of the DGW, and thus what's the benefit?

Im a bit peeved off with the cheap defenders this season , very poor choice

    Currently have

m turner Toure coleman chester brayford

Hearing brayford not nailed on now. , do i have to downgrade coleman to 4.5 nd upgrade bryford to 4.5?

B I don't understand the Toure bandwagon. He'll start GW 1 but i'd be surprised if he isn't warming the bench by GW3 when you need your whole squad as Agger and Skrtle are back from injury now.

As deadline gets closer, i'm becoming more of a dullard. Down to 2 DGW players (Terry&Hazard), from 4 yesterday.

Means you can cover the top 7 teams with some flexibility, and get RVP in without a hit/WC by GW 3/4, but you're forgoing the upside of the popular riskier options (Lukaku/Benteke/Oscar etc).

Unlikely to be seeing in the top 10,000 in the 1st GW!! 😀

I'm glad you have come to your senses. Two DGW players is the perfect number, in my opinion.

Benteke - bad fixtures, inevitable early transfer (but might be ok)
            Hazard - agreed
            Ivan - agreed
Terry - useful punt for the DGW (will need to sell and you'd only want one defender)
Cole - Expensive no attacking upside (Ivan is the better pick)
Cech - Takes up a keeper spot, too expensive
Oscar - useful punt for the DGW (will need to sell due to rotation)

Punty players will need to be sold early so are a wasted transfer making them deadweight. You'd better hope their DGW points are well worth it.

Plus, I will get to go shopping with around 35m for the four hottest attackers before gw3. All for the low price of -8.

I hear what you are saying, but I find this site overall to be a bit too risk averse when it comes to hits. Pooling a FT and then making three or four moves at once is a great way to spread your risk and also increase your chance of rewards. Plus, the timing of major changes either gw 3 or 4 makes sense with intl break, transfer window, etc. a hit or two is worth seeing where players are going, addressing injuries, and figuring out bandwagons.

Tuner, Chester, Clyne/Shaw(+GW1), Mbiwa?. I actually think that despite the injuries/doubts these players are still likely to be good picks and regular starters. I'm sure there are others as well.

Mbiwa worries me, I fancy him to nail down that spot, but starting with him, just a touch too much doubt surrounding him.

Yep. I'm likely to downgrade Ivan to Mbiwa after the DGW if he starts straight away.

After calling him essential all Pre-season I am now going without Walcott with a view to bring him in GW2 for Hazard. Hope he only manages 20 minutes this week.

He is essential. But there's 38 GWs ahead. I personally believe Negredo and Soldado will be essential as well. I'm only starting with one of them.

Not a RMT just wondering whether to keep Lampard or not

    Krul / Mannone
Ivanovich, Glen Johnson, Ward, Turner, Coleman
    Lampard, Hazard, Silva, Walcott, Whittingham
    Dzeko, Sturridge, Lambert

    Question is...
Keep as is or swap Lampard & Johnson -> Snodgrass & Cole + £1m to fiddle with?

    Which combo to choose..
    1. Vorm + Chester
    2. Ruddy + Boruc..
    3. Szez/Mig + Harper

    9.5m

I'm thinking 2 ATM- Good rotations..

I like Vorm-Boruc... BUT Swansea playing in UEFA is a consideration

Ruddy-Boruc is interesting... I think Norwich could improve this year... have a lot of respect for the man who *should be* still managing Newcastle
