Mikel Arteta has been ruled out of Arsenalโ€™s home game with Villa. Andre Villas-Boas is set to be without Gareth Bale for Spursโ€™ trip to Palace, where Jerome Thomas is sidelined for a couple of weeks for the hosts, Liverpool have good news on the defensive front and Southampton are still doubtful over Nathaniel Clyne and Luke Shaw.

Our team news section has been updated on the back of the latest press conferences and will be refreshed as today unfolds โ€“ keep an eye on this and our twitter feed ahead of what is set to be a hectic next 24-hours for Fantasy managers:

Arsene Wenger will head into tomorrowโ€™s match against Aston Villa without the influential Mikel Arteta. Speaking to the press in the last hour, the Gunners boss admitted he is uncertain when the Spaniard will return, though according to The Mail, the playmaker could be out for up to six weeks with the injury โ€“ potentially handing spot-kicks duties to Lukas Podolski and forcing Jack Wilshere into a deeper role alongside fit-again Aaron Ramsey in front of the back-four.

Although he ruled out the likes of Thomas Vermaelen, Nacho Monreal and Ryo Miyaichi, Wenger failed to mention Theo Walcott, Bacary Sagna or Santi Cazorla this morning. The first two had picked up minor problems on international duty, while Cazorla was late flying back from Spainโ€™s match in Ecuador amid worries of fatigue โ€“ Fantasy managers will be optimistic the trio are fine, then, though some confirmation would have gone a long way to easing our fears as we finalise our squads.

Elsewhere in north London, Andre Villas-Boas looks set to be without Gareth Bale for Tottenhamโ€™s trip to Crystal Palace on Sunday. The Welshman hasnโ€™t played for three weeks due to injury and, when asked whether he would be available to face Ian Hollowayโ€™s side, Villas-Boas replied:

“No, because he’s been out injured for most of pre-season. He was involved in the games against Brentford and Swindon but not any others, for different reasons; pulled a muscle in his gluteus that prevented him from being involved for two weeks and he’s been complaining of pain in the foot. I think the most natural thing is to see him not involved against Palace.”

With Bale out of the equation, itโ€™s possible that Gylfi Sigurdsson could tuck in behind Roberto Soldado, with Nacer Chadli on the left, if the visitors line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, though the Belgian has also been fielded in โ€œthe holeโ€ during pre-season. Alternatively, Villas-Boas may opt for the 4-3-3 shape he preferred at Porto โ€“ a scenario that could see Paulinho as the most advanced central option, with Sandro, Mousa Dembele and new boy Etienne Capoue offering plenty dynamism in the middle of the park.

Brendan Rodgers has received some positive news ahead of Liverpoolโ€™s early kick-off with Stoke tomorrow. The Reds boss expects both Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel to be fit to face the Potters, though while the Dane will return to the starting XI, Skrtel is likely to warm the bench โ€“ Kolo Toure is firmly ahead of the Slovakian in the pecking order and has started every pre-season friendly he has been available for.

Martin Jol will hand Alex Kacaniklic a late fitness test as Fulham make their way to Sunderland. The Cottagers boss has admitted Adel Taarabtโ€™s fitness is still an issue and with the Moroccan only likely to make the bench, Kacaniklic could be in line for a starting role on the left wing providing he gets the all clear after impressing in pre-season, according to his manager.

Southampton full-back pair Nathaniel Clyne and Luke Shaw both remain doubts for tomorrowโ€™s trip to West Brom. Speaking to the press yesterday, Mauricio Pochettino revealed the pair are making good progress:

“We’re very happy because Luke has responded well throughout the week. With one training session left tomorrow, I think he could be in the 18 players called up for the game against West Brom. Clyney has been recovering from a little niggle that he’s had since Austria. [His involvement] depends on the training session tomorrow but, if he’s not in the group for West Brom, he’ll be most probably available for the game after. “

Clyne pulled out of the midweek England Under 21 game against Scotland after being withdrawn in last weekendโ€™s friendly win over Real Sociedad, while Clyne has yet to feature over the summer. Pochettino may turn to Danny Fox and Callum Chambers in the event of any potential absence and the Saints boss also conceded he has yet to assess the fitness of Gaston Ramirez and Maya Yoshida, who both featured in the Japan v Uruguay friendly on Wednesday.

Michael Laudrup was awaiting the return of Wilfried Bony yesterday, after Swanseaโ€™s new forward turned out for Ivory Coast against Mexico in New Jersey in the early hours of Thursday morning. Laudrup โ€“ who will be without Jonathan de Guzman due to concussion โ€“ seemed far from happy with the situation as he prepares for tomorrow eveningโ€™s match against United:

“Bony will be back late on Thursday with jetlag, which is not great. To play for your country is great and the club should be proud of all our internationals, but having a friendly three days before the start of the season is strange. This is the last year when it will happen fortunately. That’s an intelligent decision.”

Ian Holloway handed Fantasy managers a heads-up after announcing Jerome Thomas is ruled out for two weeks with the ankle problem that saw him limp off against Lazio after just 22 minutes last weekend. Yannick Bolasie added to Palaceโ€™s boss with a hamstring injury that will keep him out โ€œfor some timeโ€, according to the Eagles boss. With his options on the flanks limited, Holloway could keep faith with Jonny Williams as an option out wide โ€“ fortunately, he comes in at 4.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), the same price as Thomas, and looks secure for game time in light of yesterdayโ€™s news.

I won't be changing my team in the morning, so if my team looks shite, speak now or forever hold your peace.

    Mignolet
    Terry • Collins • M Turner
    Hazard(c) • Walcott • Coutinho • Mirallas
RVP • Lukaku (vc) • Anelka

    Subs: Lewis • R Morrison • B Turner • Chester

I know Collins is a doubt, but I'm sticking with him anyway.

    Open Controls
    1. OK. That aside, I hate your goalie choices. Secondly, I believe that you can get more bang for your bucks, if you make Coutinho Mirallas, and go for a better rotating midfielder, such as Schneiderlin. But what do I know?

Ok first serious draft of the summer:

    Foster
    Collins Ivanovic Toure
    Hazard Walcott Coutinho R.Morrison
    Soldado Lukaku Benteke

subs - Boruc, Coleman, Chester, Wanyama (BANK = £1.5m)

Firstly, no RVP i know ๐Ÿ™ but i'm hoping Swansea away and Chelsea are a hard enough opening couple of games to prevent any major damage.

Secondly, no Man City also! My rough plan is to take a watching brief for GW1 and then hopefully work a City attacker into my team whilst selling off a couple of DGW players

Lastly, is it worth upgrading Ravel Morrsion with the money i have in the bank? Hoolahan perhaps? Or best to save that money for the inevitable post DGW changes?

    Thoughts guys? Much appreciated!

Have you considered a punt on Lallana/JMorrison/Downing instead of Ravel? Don't think he will start to be perfectly honest. Rest looks good and don't fret about no City, I am using this GW to scout the situation as well.

If he plays he will definitely be worth it. He should at least start tomorrow so the position is his to lose as far as i see it. I'm not the biggest fan of his tbh but he does at least appear to offer good VFM.

Oh certainly, personally I think Migs is the best given it is a Pool keeper for 5.5. Toure I just wonder if he will wind up being a player you have to waste a transfer on getting rid of.

Do you think Morrison wil start? Him and Wanyama looks a dodgy midfield duo though not sure you'll get anyone decent with the money available. Not a fan of the Foster/Boruc combo, prefer Migs and 4m for the same price.

Oh and why don't you like the Foster/Boruc combo??

I'm not a fan of just having one goalkeeper at all. An injury or suspension and you are forced into an instant transfer plus what makes you think Liverpool will be that tight defensively?

West Brom only started the season well defensively, Dino posted a stat that was something like 5 CS in the last 33 games for them. I rate Liverpool highly for clean sheets, 16 last season (2nd only to City) and with Rodgers being in his second season there I think they'll match or better that.

hmmmm those are some very convincing stats i must say. But like i said above you really need a bit of luck on your side to avoid injuries and suspensions (or even just a dip in form for Liverpool) to pull off one keeper.

There is nothing i hate more than spending transfers on bloody goalies. In fact i don't think i have ever done it barring a WC

      Hello SD.

      - Good cheap Keeper combo designed for long term.
      - Defence looks good to me. Obviously Collins is an issue for this GW only but Coleman is more than adequate cover. I will go for something similar and would advise you to consider Ivanovic > a Newcastle defender for GW2.
      - Midfield is reasonably generic (with respect). Of course there is a Mirallas shaped hole which isn't necessarily a bad thing, my real problem is that Wanyama and Morrison are definitely 5th midfielders in my opinion. Neither warrant being a 4th mid so I would use them funds to upgrade.
      - Forward line is similar to mine apart from Lambert instead of Benteke. I don't know, these are two tough games for Villa and a tough 3rd game on the horizon. Benteke is a beat but I think personally having both Lukaku and Benteke is wreckless.

        - You going with a similar keeper combo? Mignolet/£4m is tempting me a bit i must say. just the security of starts compared to Toure.
        - Yep Ivanovic > Debuchy is already pencilled in for GW2 ๐Ÿ˜‰
        - I know what you are saying regading Morrison and Wanyama but they rotate well enough and i've a feeling that £1.5m in the bank may be better spent post DGW than now, upgrading Morrison to a £6m mid. Mirallas will no doubt appear in my squad soon enough. Perhaps even for Hazard after this weekend!
        - Tough games for Tekkers no doubt. But he has so many things to love. For starters he is as nailed on as it's possible to get. He's on Pens. He has a DGW... and he was AWESOME for me last season ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

They don't rotate but for GW3 it'll be handy to have them both + Zaba instead of Kolo (MUN) and Burner (EVE).

Not sure about Zaba but don't see any reason why he wouldn't be first choice. Maybe I'll switch to Clichy though...more nailed on but less threat I suppose.

If it was only GW3 you could get away with Thomas or something like that. The likelihood is that it'll happen more often due to injuries etc so a decent 5th mid will save you from hits or 4-3-3.

0.5 is a small price to pay.

I'd go Collins for fixtures, both seem to have about the same chance of playing. don't know about the second question.

Lewis is the man you want. If he happens to become first choice he does a superb job of covering Mignolet's tough fixtures from around GW15.

    Cech - 4.0
Toure - Mert - Collins (Murner) (clyne)
Hazard - Walcott - Nolan - Silva (jedinak)
    Lukaku - Soldado - Giroud

That's me done, I can tinker for a couple more hours each time you swap a few players around it looks good, that's mine hope for the best. Good luck.
