This season’s Big Numbers articles for members will follow on from the weekend’s action as always, with new contributor, “In Tommy We Trust”, taking up the editorial reins. Tommy takes we take a look at the data gathered from the weekend’s action in the members’ area as both Merseyside clubs register impressive attacking statistics, while casting an analytical eye over a handful of forwards from Saturday and Sunday’s matches.

Stoke are essential. I've seen enough in there recent performances to suggest there players should be invested in. Hughes has done a great job so far and I think the Liv.game bears that out. Did not see one dodgy tackle and they played some nice football in spells.
I think peeps putting them in the relegation zone are well off the mark, even Crouch has me interested over the next few games.
Oh and on the note of there last game I thought Migs was terrible in goal and have drafted him out of all my fantasy teams .Open Controls-
They'll always be a tough team to break down but going forward I wouldn't say they were essential.
As for Mignolet,it was his debut so relax, clean sheets will be a plenty with our centre def partnership,Lucas at his best and a team that hounds the ball like we do.Open Controls-
I am relaxed and love the way Liv. are playing but you have a weak link there, though granted It was his first game.

I know this is a joke post, but I actually semi agree with the Mig point. Looked pretty shaky all game, though everyone has seemed to have forgoten that due to the pen save
Open Controls -
that genius/madness line... this crosses it. Begovic saved stoke time and again. They were dangerous on counters (in the 1st half) and set pieces (Huth!), but I don't know about spells of nice football. Defenders don't offer as much value this year.
(not sure if the original post was 100% serious... perhaps my response is tone-deaf to some subtle sarcasm)Open Controls-
Exactly what better man to have behind an already solid defense. They had Liv. in trouble on several occasions in the second half and there football has improved pre-season and there 1st game.

The Independents line-up prediction:
Hart
Zaba--Kompany--Lescott--Clichy
Fernandinho--Yaya--Milner
Navas--Aguero--Jovetic
There will be some pissed off people if this is right!Open Controls-
-
True. But it won't be that line-up anyway.
Open Controls -
Milner!
Open Controls -
i would kill my self 🙂
Open Controls -
And this is why it was dopey to get any Man City players for GW1. Wait till their situation settles down, then pounce.
Open Controls -
naaaaaa
Open Controls -
No Silva?? Errr i thought him to be the most nailed on City player
Open Controls-
He might be rested after Spain's long trip. I hope so, I have Coleman on the bench. My luck, he'll probably have a 1 point 10 minute cameo.
Open Controls

Jovetic won't start! It'll be:
--------------------Hart--------------------
Zabaleta, Kompany, Lescott, Clichy
------------Yaya, Fernaninho------------
-----------Navas, Silva, Milner----------
-------------------Dzeko-------------------
(Aguero MAY nudge Milner out, but I doubt it).Open Controls -

any thoughts on Coutinho after GW1
Open Controls-
Keep. He's the engine that fuels their offense.
Open Controls -
I would have him but doesn't help me GW3 when I have problems.
Open Controls -
Keep. He was brilliant; I feel a bit aggrevied he blanked because he was the best player on the pitch
Open Controls-
Agreed.

If I hadn't seen the game I would have been very encouraged by his stats, but watching the game I wasn't quite as impressed as some others on here (going by comments). I had a hard time tracking him on the screen... there were some good opportunities to play in someone on the left but Coutinho wasn't always in position (sometimes too far central or even a little deep). If Enrique wasn't playing way upfield then the dangerous ball to the left wasn't as much of an option as I felt it could have been. I suppose that fluidity can work to his advantage, but I worry that this means he has less consistent goal potential and more assist-of-the-assist potential than one might want from a 9.0m middy. But, I don't plan on replacing him anytime soon because I think liverpool's overall attacking interplay will create chances to be spread among all of their attackers

who will stay with chelsea defense?
Open Controls-
i'm keeping cech because i have boruc
Open Controls -
Me, Jose will tighten them.
JT his main man, leader and organiser on the field.Open Controls-
yeah i'm regretting going for ivan over terry. Might come good vs villa though

Evs: if he plays the next one would you say he's in for good?

Who is WC after GW3 which I understand is the international break?
Just in time to bring RVP for Palace at homeOpen Controls-
I'd rather take an 8 or even 12 point hit than blow my wildcard
Open Controls-
makes it difficult considering the blank for che/villa
Open Controls

the game vs Palace is just before the first Champions League game i heard.
Open Controls -
ME!
Open Controls -
Im into it. Huge swing in fixtures too. Dont think ill make huge changes though
Open Controls-
I started with a risky lineup for GW1
Lukaku, Dzeko, Morrison all in there. Plus 4 DGWers. Also had Kos and no RVP. It's making sense...Open Controls

I am to bring in triple Stoke.
Open Controls

Who should i replace Lukaku with? I've got £1.5m and already have Soldado and Lambert?
Open Controls -
-
link?
Open Controls

A] Get RVP in - reduce entire defence to 4.5 each
B] Get any other striker(who?) - can keep or even improve rest of squad
My team:
Cech l Boruc
Olsson l Dawson l Ivanovic l Toure l Collins
Hazard l Zaha l Coutinho l Mirallas l Snodgrass
Bony l Soldado l Anelka
[1.5 in bank]Open Controls -
Lol @ United's bids for Fellaini and Baines. Just let me get this straight... Fellaini who was signed for £15m rising to £17m a few years ago, has proven himself as an EPL player, had an excellent season last term and is now in the prime of his career at 25 years of age is now worth £16m, 1m less than Everton forked out for him.
While Baines on the other hand, who is integral the the entire Everton setup and way of playing and who has arguably been the best left back in the EPL for the last couple of seasons is only worth £12m...
Good one Man U 🙂Open Controls-
Not far off imo. 5 mill off at max.

Need a 8.0 or lower Lukaka replacement.
A) Bony
B) Wolfswinkel
C) Lambert
D) OtherOpen Controls-
can't you wait a week then do 2 swaps to upgrade him? Don't much fancy any of them.
Open Controls
-
-
I find it amusing how only one week in, and without seeing a full performance, people are already forgetting about the season Lukaku had last year. I'm sure he's Mourinho's first choice striker, just giving Torres a brief run out and conserving his main player's fitness before Lukaku goes on a monster points hauling run! Can't believe nearly 30,000 people have transferred him out already! Fools!!
Open Controls-
Agreed.
Open Controls -
Who are people captaining next week ?
Open Controls -
That's all very well and good but as someone who doesn't have him in my team I'm not about to get him with Man Utd away followed by a blank as his fixtures for the next two game weeks.
If I already had him in my team I'd be hoping for a good performance against Villa and then still probably ship him as, looking at fixtures alone, there are better options out there.
From GW...5 onwards I'd say he's good value for money again. Until then you've got to be hoping he does so well against Villa his price doesn't free fall until that point, as UTD (A), Blank, EVE (A) doesn't scream "MUST HAVE PLAYER" in the short term.Open Controls
-
-
I have taken a punt on Sigurdsson. Gw 1 it failed. Is he worth keeping for the next few weeks ??
Don't have Soldado.Open Controls-
man you must have been gutted when he missed that chance!
Open Controls -
I punted on Chadli, sticking for now. Siggy should have scored in the last 10 minutes odd, and Spud's fixtures are alright. Stick
Open Controls -
thought he was excellent. on corners and some freekicks too.

What do you guys think of this?
Boruc Westwood
Toure M.Turner Collins Shaw Amorebieta
Walcott Coutinho Silva Mirallas Koren
Van Persie Soldado GayleOpen Controls-
I will comment on one thing. If you are planning the rotation with your keepers I think the mad Italian will rotate his boys on performance so Westwood would concern me.

Best 6.0 mid? 🙁
Best I've got is Morrison?
Walcott Snodgrass Morrison HazardOpen Controls-
I reckon Pablo Hernandez might do quite well this year. Bit of a worry that he only got 45mins at the weekend, but I'll be keeping an eye on him. Also at Swansea I reckon Jonjo might have a good year.
Stewart Downing could do well at West Ham too, less pressure than Liverpool and a manager who will use him well I think.
There's actually plenty of potential in that bracket, will just have to wait and see who produces.Open Controls -
Keep an eye on Sissoko, if he has a spot behind the striker for Newcastle could be great shout.

If Negredo looks good today how does Lukaku+Ivan > Negredo+Coleman (-4) look?
Open Controls-
same plan here. neg or soldado is the question or will bony do?
Open Controls -
It's what I'm hoping to see.
I plan to do:
Ivan > Dawson (already have Coleman)
Lukaku > NegredoOpen Controls-

I think which ever man city striker doesn't start tonight is in with a shout of starting against Cardiff (aka hopefully a goal fest). I'm very tempted to do the same. Can't see Lukaku getting much against Man Utd (yes I did see the WBA v Man U game last season) and a Man city striker looks to be a good capt choice.
