The only thing more shocking than Miley Cyrus’ VMA performance this week was that Fraizer Campbell scored a brace against City and notched up a huge points haul. That result raised more eyebrows than Miley ever could. Luckily for managers with City men littered throughout their squads, it really should be business as usual this week.

Anytime Goalscorer Odds – Gameweek 3

Player Team Odds
Aguero MCY 1.5
Dzeko MCY 1.83
Negredo MCY 1.83
Van Persie MUN 2.0
Silva MCY 2.2
Jovetic MCY 2.29
Anelka WBA 2.5
Giroud ARS 2.5
Remy NEW 2.7
Lambert SOU 2.7
Michu SWA 2.7
Toure MCY 2.87
Sturridge LIV 2.87
Cisse NEW 2.87
Jelavic EVE 2.87
Van Wolfswinkel NOR 2.87
Osvaldo SOU 2.87
Walcott ARS 2.87

According to Paddy Power’s odds, five of the six most likely players to score over the Gameweek wear City’s sky blue. Great news if you can get a couple of them in your squad, but bleak reading if you’re without City cover, or, indeed a Hull City Tigers fan.

Sergio Aguero is the hot favourite at 1/2 with Paddy to find the net at anytime. He’s likely to be partnered by Edin Dzeko, who is 5/6 to notch: the duo have already opened their Premier League accounts and appear to be Manuel Pellegrini’s favored strike partnership, with Alvaro Negredo is kept on the leash, at least for now.

Robin van Persie disappointed many after drawing a blank against Chelsea but that will quickly be forgiven if he scores against Liverpool on Sunday: an anytime goal is evens with Paddy. It’s also worth noting that Paddy are refunding losing bets (First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score and Scorecast singles) if the Anfield clash ends all-square.

Either side of Van Persie in the betting we find further City players. David Silva has a goal and an assist to his name already this season and is 6/5 to find the net at anytime against Hull – the top ranked midfielder on show in the Gameweek. The aforementioned Negredo has played just 31 minutes of Premier League football but opened his account at Cardiff and is odds-on at 5/6 with Paddy Power to register again on Saturday.

Olivier Giroud has notched two goals in consecutive league outings this season and makes the list of top 10 most likely players to score. All 13 of his Premier League goals have come in London and, if you follow that bizarre trend, Giroud at 6/4 with Paddy to score at anytime against Spurs looks decent. If that derby ends in a draw, Paddy Power will also refund your losing bets (First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score and Scorecast singles).

Behind Silva, Swansea’s Michu is the most fancied anytime scorer from midfield with Paddy offering 17/10 on a strike at the Hawthorns. Arsenal’s Theo Walcott is at 21/10 to register against Spurs, with West Ham’s Kevin Nolan just behind the Gunners man and Yaya Toure at 9/4 to get on the scoresheet against the Potters.

Clean Sheet Odds – Gameweek 3

Team Odds
Man City 1.66
West Ham 2.4
Newcastle 2.8
Everton 2.87
Crystal Palace 3.0
Arsenal 3.1
Southampton 3.1
Sunderland 3.25
West Brom 3.25
Liverpool 3.4

Hull are yet to score from open play this season and Manchester City had the best defensive record at home in the top flight last term. That, in a nutshell, is all you need to know when it comes to picking out a likely clean sheet this weekend. If you’re nursing any City defenders in your squad after Sunday’s setback, at least you’ll be confident in them keeping a shut-out this time around; they’re at 4/6 with Paddy Power.

West Ham are hard to break down at Upton Park, and they square up to a Stoke side that scored just 13 on the road last term. The Hammers are 7/5 to keep Mark Hughes’ men out on Saturday afternoon in what looks set to be a muscular war of attrition.

The biggest revelation on show in these odds is perhaps Newcastle and Crystal Palace being amongst the top five. The pair have just one Premier League point between them but are 9/5 and 2/1 respectively with Paddy Power to record a shut-out in the Gameweek. The Toon Army welcome Fulham to St James’ Park and Palace host a Sunderland side that have won just one of the last eight league games on their travels.

I don't have both. I have Aguero. If I did have both, Id still cap Ag. Why? Silva is a good player but when the ball is at his feet, he tends to pass and who is on the end of that? Hopefully Aguero.

Most would captain Aguero if they had him, Silva leads as most people are answering who they will captain and Silva's ownership eclipses Kun.

Being 'thepuntmaster' (although yet to be proven, though had JGomez hatty last year) and I have a team on skysports just for punts I'd let u know which punts I have considered!

    1. Andros Townsend - AVB finally chose him and he was impressive. I can see him being picked again. With a forward like Soldado wing service is key. I always find the NL derbys very pacey (and high scoring) so this little man could be impressive. I have transferred him in in the skysports game (the experiment fantasy footy) already. Last season Townsend ran the Arsenal defence ragged for QPR (even though loosing 1-0 due to Walcott's 1st min goal).

    2. Adel Taarabt - I know, I know, I know, Taarabt is not liked on here and indeed I don't like him as a player. He is even more selfish than Arjen Robben, and that is saying something! However when I watched him on MOTD he was still as ambitious as ever, zipping around and trying ambitious shots. However I think this is the game he will succeed. Everything about Newcastle is a shambles - the nutter Mike Ashley, the man who doesn't have a clue Alan Pardew, the Cabaye case and fed up fans. The team is really going to struggle this year and I think Taarabt will be too hot to handle for the cold mood in the toon.

    3. Craig Bellamy - Boy, this was hard to admit. I have chosen Bellamy against my team because he normally plays on the right of the Cardiff midfield. Although our left side is very strong going forward it can often be left open. Cardiff will be in high spirits after last week's giant crushing and unfortunately there could be another one here (well, maybe not giant) ;). Bellamy is yet to get off the mark but is a goalscorer and still has the pace needed when Baines is caught out of position. Although there are other Cardiff options I could have gone for (Kim, Whittingham etc.) Bellamy is the one to watch and his is in my FPL team.

    Just a few thoughts 🙂

    Foster (injured)
    Toure (injured)
    Baker (injured)
    Morrison (won't start)
    Anelka (potential absentee)

          Yep Dzeko.

My first thought was Walcott. But Silva seems to be possibly getting more shots in now (possibly bringing his goal scoring potential closer in line with that he manages for Spain - ive always thought there was a large discrepancy there)

The other thing is that although a lot of recent NLD have been goal-fests the fact remains that Spurs have tightened up lately and the game may play out relatively low scoring I fear.

So yeh, im leaning towards Silva, but Im still tempted by Walcott 🙂

Sort of got lost in the posts....

If you wanted a better midfield and needed to make money

    - would you take baines out?
    - who to replace with £5.5m to £6ish who will get equal or better points?
    - would you do it this week for a -4 to make the remaining changes in GW4?
I think I'd be looking at -4 this and -4 next unless I do it over 4 dame weeks and leave my mid lacking for a long time

Also if baines goes to Man U does this change things

Cheers folks. Would you be willing to take points hits for 2 weeks or just spread over 4 weeks with FT's

My other thought was just replacing Cout for Walcott or Michu this week for a hit

Play Snodgrass or Mirallas, what do you guys think? Home fixture vs wishful thinking. I'm more of a pragmatic guy myself but benching 7.5 mil midfielder seems quite unreasonable.

They are the weakest, have to chose between them, I was sure about playing Snodgrass but I dont like the idea having 7.5mil player on the bench

Giroud or Soldado for this weekend? Taking one of them out for Aguero. Leaning more towards taking Soldado out as his only points returns have stemmed from penalties.

I wouldn't (c) him unless he was a cert to play (last Saturday)...He's a great punt at 7.5 but just have to roll with the rotation.
