With the first international break almost upon us, Fantasy managers have one more set of fixtures to navigate before bracing ourselves for a two-week domestic hiatus. Weโ€™re backing City to bounce back from Sundayโ€™s shock result at Cardiff, while a north London derby also catches our eye, with goals looking on the Emiratesโ€™ menu:

Artur Boruc gets the nod between the sticks again as Southampton make their way to Norwich. The Saints stopper has conceded just once in his two matches so far and with the Canaries failing to break down 10-man Hull at the KC Stadium last weekend, an away clean sheet could well be on the cards.

One of only three sides yet to concede a goal thus far, West Hamโ€™s chances of further defensive returns are boosted by a home clash with Stoke tomorrow afternoon. James Collins offers the cheapest route into Sam Allardyceโ€™s backline and up against a Potters side that notched 13 times on the road last term, heโ€™ll be confident of extending that clean sheet streak.

Culpable for a couple of goals in Cityโ€™s shock defeat at Cardiff last weekend, Pablo Zabaleta has the perfect chance to make amends. The right-back welcomes Hull to the Etihad in the Gameweekโ€™s early kick-off and with a 10 point haul in his first home clash of the season, Zabaletaโ€™s raids down the flank are likely to trouble the Tigers from start to finish.

With 19 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points over his two games thus far, Seamus Coleman has been quick out the blocks for Everton. The right-back has already racked up a goal and assist this term and his raiding runs down the flank offer the chance of further attacking returns should the Toffees fail to keep out Fraizer Campbell and co.

Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa is our final defender as Newcastle prepare for the visit of Fulham. While the Magpies continue to falter up front, they welcome the Cottagers on the back of a home clean sheet against West Ham last time out and, priced kinder than any other defensive team-mate in FPL, the January signing looks a solid option for tomorrowโ€™s St Jamesโ€™ Park showdown.

Subject of our Technical Area article earlier this week, Theo Walcott earns his place ahead of Sundayโ€™s north London derby. As Arsenal prepare for the visit of Tottenham, itโ€™s worth noting that the last five showdowns between the pair at the Emirates have harvested 30 goals โ€“ a high-scoring affair could well be on the cards, then, with the Gunners winger looking in the mood to open his account for the campaign.

Having signed off the previous season with a home hat-trick against Reading, Kevin Nolan was quick off the mark in Gameweek 1 as West Ham eased past Cardiff. The Hammers skipper is afforded another chance to notch in front of his own fans as Stoke roll up this weekend and with Andy Carroll remaining in the treatment room, Nolan is likely to carry the hosts goal threat against the Potters.

With a goal and assist in his first couple of matches, David Silva has already picked up the points under Manuel Pellegrini. Subject of a Members Monitor article earlier this week, the Spaniard has offered a far greater goal threat so far this term and with starts assured, has earned himself a huge Fantasy bandwagon this week ahead of a home clash with Hull.

With goals expected at both ends of the pitch at the Emirates, we can hardly overlook Roberto Soldado. The Spaniard has notched in both league appearances since arriving from Valencia โ€“ albeit from the spot โ€“ and his lethal eye for goal could come to the fore once again as Andre Villas-Boasโ€™ side look to extend their 100% start to the season at the expense of their bitter rivals.

Weโ€™ve opted for Sergio Aguero as our City forward of choice this weekend. Edin Dzeko vindicated our decision last weekend by notching against Cardiff but with replacement Alvaro Negredo also grabbing a goal in the 3-2 defeat, Manuel Pellegrini may decide to freshen up his frontline. Having returned to full fitness, Aguero was handed the full 90 minutes against the Bluebirds and with a goal and pair of assists to his name, has played a part in more of his sideโ€™s six goals than any team-mate so far.

He may have drawn a blank against Chelsea on Monday evening but weโ€™re backing Robin Van Persie to return to form in Sundayโ€™s Anfield encounter. With question marks over Kolo Toureโ€™s fitness, Liverpool may struggle to maintain their clean sheet run – if thereโ€™s one man Brendan Rodgers wonโ€™t want to face with a depleted defence, itโ€™s Unitedโ€™s number one forward.

Joel Ward is a real cut-price option at the back as Palace prepare to welcome Sunderland to Selhurst Park. The visitors have hardly been prolific so far, registering a single goal over two matches, and coming in at just 4.0 in FPL, the Eagles defender offers a real budget-friendly option at the back this weekend.

Weโ€™re opting for Jason Puncheon as the winger prepares to make his home debut for Palace. Up against a Sunderland side with a single win in their last eight away matches, the on-loan wideman will be looking to return to the form that saw him rack up five goals and six assists for Southampton last time out.

Unlikely to make the bench once again, Rickie Lambert will be hoping to get amongst the goals again after a blank against Sunderland last weekend. The Southampton striker had eight efforts on goal against the Black Cats last Saturday and squares up to a Norwich side that have yet to keep a clean sheet – with spot-kicks and a share of set-pieces to fall back upon, there’d be no surprise to see him on the scoresheet in tomorrowโ€™s Carrow Road encounter.

        but you own RVP in part because he's statistically more likely to have a brace or hat-trick than any other player, and statistically scores more often than any other player

        thus, unless you think you always know when he's going to have a scoring outburst, to capture maximum captain's points and play the percentages, it makes the most sense to captain him every week

          Statistically speaking there will be a number of players every week (e.g. Aguero this week) who are more likely to score a brace / hat-trick. RVP will often be a good (c) choice, but not necessarily every week.

      Captaining him just because he's RVP is an insanely lazy decision. This mirrors the "play Mignolet every week" tactic just because you paid 5.5 for him.

      dont have to captain every week. But the MAIN argument people used for getting him is when you don't know who to captain, he's a great default.

      Truth is, there are more exciting forwards this year and i think people are starting to realize that, RVP can be outscored lol

    Just a couple of thoughts on Mamadou Sakho, now that he is at Liverpool.

    He is very strong and athletic: he is a beast. Lacks a bit of technique though. He runs in a funny way too, makes him look silly haha.

    He had an amazing season a couple years back and was getting regular game time for France national team. Everything was going fine and he proved to be a very promising player with a great future infront of him. But all that was very quickly put to the end and he slowly sat on the bench with the arrival of Thiago Silva, Alex and now Marquinhos.

    He has now lost his spot in the France team and needs more game time to get it back and to play the World Cup at the end of the season, as he has already missed out on the Euro 2012. Very intelligent move to Liverpool for him.

    I think he is not worth £20m as he has only played a few games in the last two seasons. But if he gets his confidence back he will be definately worth it.

      No Toure either, regardless what Rodgers make of Toure's improvement, he will not play. I imagine BR will not want to risk further injury and let him recover properly over the break.

    Re post (sorry in advance)

    Ok then decision time for this week?

    Scezny
    M.olsson, toure, collins
    Silva(c), nolan, sissoko, coutinho
    Giroud, soldado, dzeko

    Subs, k.davis, hazard, chambers, brayford

    Already did my free transfer (Ivan - Collins) but I probably only have 1 defender playing in Collins.

    Do I A.

    Leave it and hope olsson and toure, or chambers plays?

    Or B.

    Swap olsson for nastasic and hope man c get a CS so I get 2 extra points(plus pray for a goal or bonuses)? Or another defender who has a good chance of a CS!

      Id prob do olson to nasty just based on the fact ur not gonna want to keep him anyway so ur gonna want to move him out soon in any case...not ideal though ๐Ÿ™

    current team is this -

    boruc, marshall
    cole, k toure, zabaleta, s taylor, chester
    silva, hazard, coutinho, hba, kim
    lambert, giroud, benteke

    think im just gona go -

    S Taylor -> J Collins
    Hazard -> Downing

    for a -4... think its sensible as gives me a guaranteed 11 (if u consider chester would come on for k toure). thoughts?

          Talk of Morrison or J Cole starting instead, is he worth the risk?

            i aint seen this talk and think morrison would take jarvis place rather than downings.
            Downing will be as nailed on as they come this season.

            However, having said that, think Sinclair could be a better option.... need to consider the 2

    The walcott vs silva (c) choice is imposible.

    Think that as I have three city players I will make wally (c) to spread the risk, if city fail to trash Hull.
    Besides the City game is an early kich off, dont like to captain players from that match...

    Anyone with me?

      I'm flip-flopping myself.
      I may go Silva because few in my ML even have Walcott, i.e. starting him is enough of a differential.

      I think your reasoning makes sense about spreading the risk , not the early kick off ๐Ÿ˜›

      Has Soldado actually been any good? I've not seen him live admittedly, but two penalties reeks of good fortune.

        It's his record in Spain, a goal game (albeit pens) and his two goals in Europe. nicely rested and Arsenal have conceded 5 big chances in two games. And then there's the NLD goals

        I've heard arguments both ways. From his Tot performances alone I have no faith in that investment. He may be perfectly fine, but he can't get the service he needs. Just can't invest in him based on PKs.

    Evening all, looking to possibly get Aguero in. Team is below.

    Cech | Boruc

    Zabaleta | Toure | Terry | Chester | Tuner

    Silva | Walcott | Hazard | Nolan | Whittingham

    Soldado | Sturridge | Anelka

    Thoughts on these 3 transfers for -4 hit?

    Terry --> Colins
    Hazard --> Brady
    Anelka --> Aguero
