With leagues across the Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Sky Sports and Sun Dream Team games as well as a link up with PlayON there is plenty of opportunity for our community to get involved across a wide range of competitions.  In our latest Fantasy Football Scout round up, we profile this week’s league leaders.

Fantasy Premier League

A Gameweek 2 score of 55 was enough for Stumanchu to retain top spot in our  Fantasy Premier League (FPL) mini-league. He now has 186 points and climbs to third place overall thanks to his captaincy of Roberto Soldado and eight point hauls from Olivier Giroud and Kolo Toure. Tang Window, who captained Edin Dzeko, takes second place and sits four points behind our leader, while James Martin, who is in third place on 177 points, was another to captain Dzeko last week; he also had Tottenham’s Kyle Walker amongst his other top performers. The code to join our FPL league, which is top of the league of leagues, is 1580-1106.

Ross Gillard, who scored 66 points this week,  is now sitting top of our Fantasy Football Scout Members league in the FPL game. He has a total score of 175 and sits in 130 place overall, with his decision to captain Giroud proving decisive. Sam Gillespie is equal on points with Ross, but lies in second after taking a points hit in Gameweek 2. Third placed James Floyd is close behind on 172 points – James’s leftfield selection of Sunderland’s Emmanuele Giaccherini, who accrued 9 points, proved a smart move.

Last week’s Fantasy Football Scout Contributors and Moderators league leader Mark was among those left disappointed by Robin Van Persie. His resolute allegiance to the Dutchman saw him slump to fifth, with last year’s Contributors league victor and no-RVP advocate Andy moving to joint first alongside Green Windmill. Torres Magic hangs on to his third place with a total score of 144, although Granville is hot on his heels with a score of 139.

Sky Sports Fantasy Football

With a total points haul of 269 Josie O’Neil moves from second to first in our Fantasy Football Scout league in the Sky Sports Fantasy Football game. Mary Humberstone moves from third to second with a score of 264 and last week’s league leader Leanne Dean falls to joint third with Nick Whitrid on 260 points. Leanne’s decision to field exclusively Chelsea and Aston Villa players is set to see her either slip further or force her to make several transfers this week. As with last week, we continue to top Sky’s league of leagues.

The winner of our Sky league wins £1,000. To join, visit Sky Sports Fantasy Football and key in League Name: FFScout, League Code: 8000112.

The Sun Dream Team

Heavy investment in Arsenal and Tottenham helped Lee Walpole secure first place in our Sun Dream Team league. He has nine players from the North London rivals, with Tottenham striker Roberto Soldado’s 28 points  proving vital to his  points tally of 196. Charles Mouzon, who at one point last season was number one in the FPL game, is in second with 188 points thanks to Daniel Sturridge’s 34 points and similar investment in Tottenham’s assets. In third lies Tim Mongiat on 187 points. Tim’s star players include Soldado and Arsenal’s Kieron Gibbs. To join visit  The Sun Dream Team, league name: Fantasy Football Scout, password: ReWOZhn1T1 and PIN: 8061654.

PlayOn £2 Game

In our exclusive Fantasy Football Scout PlayON £2 Game Jamie Boyd claimed first place and winnings of £87 thanks to points hauls from Sturridge, David Silva, Charlie Adam and Ryan Shawcross. Andrew Foskett grabbed second place and winnings of £58, and third-placed Karl Pickard enjoys £34.51 haul. In case you missed them, our PlayON player picks for this weekend can be found right here.

Thinking of doing something a bit of the ordinary for my captain....what you guys think of Zabaleta (C). Looks like a pretty certain clean sheet and good potential for some attacking and bonus points. I have walcott, soldado and sturridge but Zabs seems like a decent pick. I haven't seen him mentioned...am I missing something??

zabaleta had a shocking game last week. easily the worst player on the man city team that match.
      he cost them two goals.
in saying that.. i do think he will bounce back cos he is a great player.. would much rather walcott or soldado as (C) for this weeek

He's been mentioned as a captaincy option plenty of times.

My concern with captaining a defender is that you greatly limit your point potential. A City attacking option is a better choice, in my opinion.

By the way in case you all missed the memo, this is the season Taarabt finally realizes his potential. The stars have aligned. Jol is a specialist at solving this enigma. Berb is an older more Bulgarian Taarabt. Bent is a master poacher. Parker and Sidwell are not only willing to do the dirty work for him, they love it. These are the ingredients he was missing at QPR. Adel himself says he left strangers at QPR and joined the Fulham family.
Oh and it starts this gw so don't wait for the homers coming up, you'll miss a haul.

Yep precisely this. AVB likes the 433 but will no doubt change it up occasionally and put Eriksen in the hole. I don't think he will start regularly to begin with though.

I can see him taking a while to adapt. He's much more suited to the slower more tactical Dutch football. Same with Chadli. His set pieces will rack up some points though

Good afternoon DZ (from NZ). I have a bit of a selection issue this week that isn't helped by the scout picks.

One of the things last seasons winner said was to try and avoid having contradicting players in the same team to maximise your points potential. I have that issue with Norwich and Southampton players this weekend. The scout picks have backed Southampton away but I've gone for Turner over Clyne because they are at home. On top of that I have contradicted my own intensions by starting Mertisacker even though I have Soldado and starting JRod despite having Turner.

What are peoples thoughts on the subject and what do you think I should do if I follow the no contradicting starters theory.

    Migs
    Coleman, Turner, Mertisacker
    Walcot, Coutinho, Mirralas, Snodgrass
    Soldado, Dzeko(c), JRod

    Subs: Barkley, Clyne, Chester

I don't really buy into this theory. I get it, double down or hedge your bets, I'm just more inclined to look at payers in isolation. Play the guys you think will get the most points out of the squad and to hell with rival matches,

I agree. I guess to some extent the guy who comes first will have had a large dose of luck, and as a consequence it is likely he didn't have a lot of opposing players. But we're playing to maximise our expectation, not maximise our potential to get lucky (or indeed unlucky)

Have never taken any notice of it. Play your best defenders based on their clean sheet odds , and play your best strikers , if they up against each other there not much can do about it
You have strong team this week

benching clyne instead of turner is a good idea not only that he's away he is also finding his feet.

I was asking about this as far as a hit is concerned, in that both players I was going to bring in were going against my defenders so I felt I wan't hedging bets as much as lowering my ceiling -- something I hate doing if I am taking a hit. Ultimately, I went for one "contradicter" and one "acquiescer" (or whatever a contradicter's opposite is).

My issue now is do I captain Rooney to raise that ceiling again so a goal of his will be doubled and effectively negate the loss of JE's clean sheet?

Mulumbu is my other guy -- he will not be my captain.

I absolutely buy into this therory. Especially when it is an attacking player vs a GK/Def

It certainly decreases ones chances of maximizing point output. I do not know if it is totally avoidable, however when faced with the situation, i try and not play my defender vs a forward whom i own.

That said, i do not work my transfers around it. But will adjust my starters/bench for it.

Yep I'm trying to do the same. Although its not completely avoidable this round because I have a few Def/Att contradictions this week. I'm not totally keen on starting with 3 Everton players and obviously not keen on starting Chester.

Cheer's lads, no doubt there are extra complications such as the likelihood of Snodgrass and Clyne starting. Hedging your bets isn't necessarily a bad strategy either but I do understand the merits of the no contradicting starters theory. It does make sense.

I think the theory is sound but it doesn't always play out that way. Occasionally you will have a striker in your team who is up against one ore more of your defenders. What are ya gonna do?!
It's silly to transfer a player out for that or leave a good player on your bench. Just have to weigh up the defence vs the attack potential and pick accordingly.

In your case I would play Barkly over J Rod. I'd play Mert only because he has a very very small chance of putting in a header.

I hear you regarding Mertisacker. Also Spurs have been average on attack so the CS potential is there and its not like I can bench Soldado. You might have a point about starting Barkley over JRod and going all out with Everton away to promoted Cardiff.
