Following City’s stuttering victory over Hull, there are four three o’clock kick-offs to help pick up the momentum, before Crystal Palace host Sunderland in the tea-time encounter.

This afternoon’s matches aren’t exactly bristling with Fantasy potential, although Everton’s trip to Cardiff will be of key interest given the ownership of Leighton Baines, Seamus Coleman and this week’s speeding bandwagon, Frazier Campbell.

Not surprisingly, after the victory over City, Cardiff boss, Malky Mackay keeps an unchanged lineup. Roberto Martinez starts with both Baines and Marouane Fellaini, despite speculation on their future at the club, as the Toffees also field an unchanged side to the one that drew 0-0 with West Brom last time out.

Up at St James’ Park, Alan Pardew is able to call upon Johan Cabaye for the clash with Fulham, although the Frenchman only makes the bench following his in-house dispute with the club. The Magpies are otherwise unchanged. Martin Jol makes several tweaks to his visiting Fulham lineup as Bryan Ruiz, Darren Bent and Alex Kacaniklic all earn starts; Damien Duff, Adel Taarabt and Pajtim Kasami are the trio to drop out.

Chris Hughton makes three changes to his Canaries teamsheet for the visit of Southampton to Carrow Road. Seb Bassong and Robert Snodgrass return as expected, while Johan Elmander makes his full debut having notched twice in the midweek Capital One Cup tie. Significantly, Steven Whittaker keeps his place at right-back, as club captain, Russell Martin is the man to drop out. Alex Tettey and Jonny Howson are the other pair to make way. The Saints give Pablo Osvaldo his first start with Jay Rodriguez making way to the bench. Luke Shaw is seemingly only fit enough for a subs role as Danny Fox starts at left-back, while Calum Chambers is again preferred at right-back to Nathaniel Clyne.

Finally, West Ham are another side left untouched. Sam Allardyce keeps faith with the men that earned him a point at Newcastle as the Hammers take on Stoke at Upton Park. Mark Huhges rewards Kenwyne Jones for his midweek hat-trick with a start up front. That’s the only change to the Potters lineup that ran out 2-1 winners over Crystal Palace last weekend.

Our Dugout Discussion chatroom remains open throughout these matches and into this evening’s clash at Selhurst Park.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

For Corrigan/anyone else considering more/better defenders this season - few days ago I attempted to estimate the increase in Vidic/Terry's bonus this season assuming bonus was given out at the current rate as opposed to the historical rate. Gives you a ballpark figure for the increase in bonus for defenders as a whole (this increase will be less for teams with worse defences because they'll keep fewer CS).

As you probably know I'm not convinced by going heavy on defence yet, but there's the estimate if it helps your decision.

Historically wildcarding before gw4 has been a good idea cos we have some idea about the form of big hitters. Can you think of any one midfielder that has stood out yet?

Regarding the ideal formation, the trick is to be ahead of the game. Every formation has its spells (remember the age of the famed Power 5 last season). Who knows - it may well be the time for 352 in the next 4 weeks (with Arsenal, chelsea, Spurs mids and Michu coming to the fore)

Don't see a point in wildcarding unless you need to take 3 hits to get a playing XI out for gw4.

    Wildcard is FPL gold.

I'm just bored of Giroud and I really can't see him keeping up his scoring. Plus I would like to get Benteke and Rooney in. Lampard relies too much on set-pieces and penalties for points. Also the amount of midfielders Chelsea have I'm just gonna avoid completely.

No one atm. Maybe Toure but no one else. Mirallas had chances today and I'm sure he will come good. It was this week last year that I sold bale and he scored 40+ points in the next three. Patience isn't always a bad thing 😉

Nearly went with 5 and an uber backline.

What's crucial now is that midfield assists are not recognised in the BP system so you need mids that will rack up the goals.

Conversely, defenders are being showered with BPs.

Need a bit of help....if I'm going to use my WC over the international break its best to activate it now to take advantage of price rises, correct?
