This evening we roll out the final article in our three-part series assessing the stand-out attacking statistics over the first three Gameweeks. Having cast our analytical eye over the Defenders and Midfielders, we turn our attentions up front.
-
Reckon Toure will play RB? Moses not really known for trackin back so Toure may be reqd to just sit back there and not raid forward
Open Controls-
I think he'll play CB...I can't see BR wanting to change two of the back four (GJ>?, Toure> Sakho)...so probably..Wisdom Toure Agger Enrique...With Sakho to come at a later date...
Open Controls-
Aye.. seems logical. Skrtel havin a gr8 game last week was a worry too though
Open Controls

Boruc
Vidic,Dawson,Chester
Walcott, Ben Arfa, Brady, Hernandez
RVP, Soldado, Giroud
(Mignolet,Enrique, Redmond, Joel Ward)
As a wildcard team any thoughts? And start Hernandez or Enrique? Can not see that many goals in this game but Swansea should scoreOpen Controls-
Soldado for sturridge lambert or benteke mate
If you go lambert then upgrade dawson to vertonghenOpen Controls-
But Spurs have nice fixtures? IS Dawson not going to play?
Open Controls-
Spurs haven't scored from open play mate
Soldado has done nothing in the league apart from two penalties
Get in sturridge or someone who actually has form
And if you have to pick a spurs defender pick vert nailed on and goal threat
Or maybe chester to sakhoOpen Controls
-
-
-
-
Ok be honeset
How many people on here write those essays about new players when they've never seen them play
Basically look at their stats on footy manager and fifa
Check out wikipedia and whoscored
Maybe some youtube highlights (probably not because that actually involves watching a player)Open Controls-
Does it matter?
Open Controls-
Definitely mate
If you haven't even see a player play in a game then how can you write about him
How many people on here can say they've properly watched (say at least ten full games) of a player that's come into the prem that's not ozil?
And how many people write like they're experts
I include myself in this just think its a joke sometimesOpen Controls-
Not everyone only watches the Premiership and Barca / Real.
Open Controls -
well I have seen pretty much all Eredevisie players more than that, and the likes of Eriksen, Vertonghen etc,.. around 50 times in the flesh.
Open Controls-
See my post below mate you're in the minority
People like you should be writing those posts
Not green seekers who haven't got a clueOpen Controls
-
-
Doubt anyone does it tbh.
I don't know half these new players & wouldn't even try. I'll just wait until they play to make my mind.
Plenty here play UCL etc & know their players/leagues.Open Controls
-
-
-
I think there are a good number of us in other countries who have actually watched said players
Open Controls-
This.
Open Controls -
In the minority mate
Example is all those people who write about spurs' new signings (loooooads)
Probably about two people on here that post regulalrly and watch the dutch league regularly (say at least one highlight show and two games every week, plus maybe go to a game too for a season)
So there should only be about two people writing about those players...Open Controls-
FFS has members all over the world. More than 2 watch other leagues/dutch league.
Making generalizations like that is achieving nothing.
Football is a common bond for most here.Open Controls-
Exactly. for example I follow the Bundesliga very closely, maybe even more than the PL.
Open Controls-
You're the sort of person who should post those long articles mate
Maybe next year scout will put together an expert team from each league that can give a heads up on new players/rumoured players during the transfer window
Or maybe even do it for january but probably too soonOpen Controls -
Agreed! when players like Jelavic, Maloney, Whittaker, Hooper ect joined the prem I put my input in.
This board has people from all over the world who watch a lot of football in a lot of countries.Open Controls
-
-
Fair point but I disagree mate
Pompeyfan
is the only one on here who watches the dutch league think he's an ajax fan and goes to games
I'm on here all the time
Don't see anyone else who is a dutch league fan
I'm not criticising the league just saying if one (at most two) properly properly watch the league then only two should be in a position where they can write about the players
Once they're in the pl its easy we can all watch themOpen Controls-
There are thousands of members. There's no way you know what league every single member watches.
Open Controls-
Well for a start this is an english site in england
Most people who play fpl are from england
So huge huge majority on here will have seen the pl onlyOpen Controls-
Obviously, but that doesn't detract from my point.
Open Controls-
Reply failed mate
Meant to carry on and say so even less will be dutch league fans as there's so many leagues around the world
Then less that go on here
Then less that ever post
Finally tiny amount that post regularlyOpen Controls
-
-
More generalisations....
Open Controls
-
-
-
Not going to argue that with you Maxi.
Plenty of Dutch users on the site for starters.
You hide a lot if you are here all the time.Open Controls-
Mate am on here all the time
Apart from when I went to magaluf a few weeks ago
I don't post unless I've got something good to say thoughOpen Controls
-
-
I think you underestimate the football obsession of people who spend their time posting on a fantasy football website. I'm sure there are a great number of us who watch a large variety of leagues. I do occasionally get annoyed about one of two who constantly post about having seen almost every player a huge number of times live though, but im sure they're just kids
Open Controls
-
-

In fairness Maxi, I'm not sure I've ever seen you post anything useful about any player - whether you've seen them play or not. Generally just aggro posts like this.

And done long posts tooOpen Controls

The interesting thing about this Toure article (http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/kolo-toure-confident-hell-back-5873230) is that they talk about Skrtel as competition, and mention Cissokho's injury, but don't talk about Sakho at all.
Open Controls -
In case it hasn't been mentioned already, RVP will start tonight, as will Vlaar
Open Controls -
Would you start Toure over Chester? Already have Migs at the back and not super confident of a Liverpool CS?
Open Controls-
I think you answered your own question there
Open Controls -
Pick the one you think will do better. Doubt Toure will be a sub.
Open Controls-
"Pick the one you think will do better" isn't that helpful... He's asking for others' opinions.
I think Chester is well worthy of a start, although an interesting stat which I keep mean to look up is the sort of scorelines you typically get between 2 promoted teams. Do they tend to go hell for leather to try get ahead of what will likely be a relegation rival, or do they think a draw is better than losing and so tend to be more conservative leading to bore-draws...
Will let you know if I get round to looking this up!Open Controls-
In this case I'm hoping for a bore draw, but it would be interesting to analyse promoted teams tactics, do it!
Open Controls -
I will play Chester. No point having him if you can't play him at home vs Cardiff.
Good question regarding promoted teams. I'll go conservative.Open Controls -
Hey Jönny, someone did the heavy lifting for me on this. There aren't many clean sheets, it turns out. In particular, Hull didn't beat Cardiff - Home or Away - at all in the championship.
I was going to play Chester ahead of Nolan until I read that.Open Controls-
Eek, just when I had made my mind up. Good stat, thanks
Open Controls
-

I'd pick Chester over Toure anyway this week due to the fixture. Luckily my defence is so bad that I'll be playing both anyway.
Open Controls-
Jonty .... Pull your socks up or that Iron Man dream will disappear 😉

Thanks everyone, I'm glad its not just me who thinks its a tricky decision.

If this is for CL. Start with CR7 and Messi then work back.

if you're going for former EPL players, you should put vdv and cesc in midfield

WC ready for GW4:
Boruc
Zabaleta - Vidic - Coleman
Hazard - Hernandez - HBA - Walcott
Benteke (c) - Soldado (v) - Sturridge
Mignolet - JWP - Chester - Collins
Bank = 0
Thoughts?Open Controls-
Too injury doubts for starters. No MU?
Open Controls-
2*
Open Controls
-
-
Boruc ----> 4m
Collins ---> 4m (Burner, Cardiff)
Hazard ---> Lampard
Hernandez ----> Upgrade to whatever big gun can be afforded
IMO. No need for Boruc, just play Migs every week, same with Collins, with the other defenders you have (3 strong teams)Open Controls
-
-
Worth taking 4 point hit?
Dzeko,Silva-----> Benteke,Michu(Lamela)
And who is better option for this and next GW,then I will use my WC..
ThanksOpen Controls-
-
He will be my captain 🙂
who do u think is better option Michu or Lamela ?Open Controls-
Risky but I'd say Lamela, but we all know Michu has the ability to bring the points in and also the fixtures. Could go either way really.
Open Controls-
Yeah,I think Tot will finally score 2+ goals against Norwich and Lamela could be involved..on the other hand I think Liv will surely concede and Michu have good chance of getting some points..
And next GW Swa will score more goals vs Palace, then Tot vs Cardiff...
So I am leaning towards Michu...also I have SoldadoOpen Controls
-
-
-
-
-
Which forwards are non RVP teams going for?
Sturridge? (Injury worry).
Wellbeck (Rotation).
Soldado (Seems to rely on penalties!)
Bentekkers?
I've already got Giroud. Just cant decide on the other 2.Open Controls-
No to Welbeck, not prolific enough for FPL, and often plays wide left.
2 of the other 3, and maybe add Lukaku into the mix after this coming weekend.Open Controls-
Thanks. Looking like Giroud/Soldado/Benteke at the minute then.
Based on Sturridge injury and the return of Suarez...eventually.
But cant help but like Sturridges fixtures!Open Controls

-

So......Frank Lampard......given he will have played both internationals, is it likely Jose will give him a rest vs Everton, or is the rest more likely to come vs Basel in the midweek CL game?

Rodgers said: “Kolo is the type of character that I love in a back four, an organiser and a leader.
“I think whether he’s playing with Daniel or whether he’s playing with Martin Skrtel, you need that leadership.
“Daniel’s a wonderful talent, he’s an international captain, he’s one of the best left-sided players in the world, so it’s two experienced players, but it’s important that you play together, and they’ve held us together really well.”
Glad I kept 😎Open Controls-

I'm waiting for updates on the injuries, but have no idea how to play it this week.
Which of the following looks the best option? All for -4
A) Silva + Sturridge > RVP + Brady
B) Toure + Silva > Vidic + Michu/Lampard
C) Toure + Sturridge > Vidic + GiroudOpen Controls -

Looks like no price changes are imminent that really impact a lot of people. Will wait til Friday to choose my Dzeko replacement.
Open Controls-
lol at those that used their WCs to get price changes
Open Controls -
Saturday is probably better.
Open Controls -
who are you considering? and howmuch do you have to spend?
Open Controls-
I have 2.3m in the bank, already have Studge and Soldado.
If Studge is fit I will play him, otherwise I may have to replace him and keep dzeko.
Main options to replace are Giroud+Benteke, but I really quite fancy doubling up on Arsenal.Open Controls

After much deliberation I've decided there isn't the value in the midfield at the moment and have gone with RVP! Only question is *Soldado, Benteke or Sturridge?
Migs/ Davis
Coleman/ Zaba/ Collins/ Burner/ Chester
Walcott/ Coutinho/ Hernandez/ Redmond/ JWP
Giroud/ RVP/ *?
Spurs/Soldado have the fixtures.
Liverpool/Sturridge have form
Benteke has form though hasn't played for 3 weeks.Open Controls -
Well for a start this is an english site in england
Most people who play fpl are from england
So huge huge majority on here will have seen the pl only
So many leagues around the world
So if you do the maths only a handful are going to be dutch league
And even smaller actually post on here

Yeah, was baltic last night. I hate Winter!
Open Controls -

So, do we fancy Sturridge and Silva to both play this w/e?
I think my options are as below - best one?
1) No transfers and hope Silva & Sturridge both play
2) Silva -> Ozil/Michu/Lamela (4 points)
3) Sturridge -> Benteke (4 points)
4) 2&3 above, or Silva & Sturridge -> Brady & RVP (8 points)
Boruc, Davis
Zaba, Terry, Toure, Chester, Ward
Walcott, Silva, Mirallas, Nolan, Morrison
Sturridge, Soldado, Giroud
Bank 1.6mOpen Controls -
What is this level 2..??
Open Controls-
A little something called nirvana
Open Controls -
You'll get there posting good stuff Daniel. Please don't worry about it. It is hidden for a reason. It's just a number.
Open Controls -
This site depresses me.
Open Controls-
Looking forward to the FA Cup ...... Do hope the Shrimpers are mine 🙂

Agreed

Rep levels. I posted last night, we currently have a bug with them and the fact we shifted them from comments to profiles underlines the fact they are not key or important. Mostly they signify role - e.g.: a moderator or admin or staff member but also community members have gone up a level and some haven't. The problem is, the system is a little buggy after we removed downvoting. I'm sorting at the moment.
We don't encourage discussion of rep level because if should and does have little impact on what goes on here - particularly when it's buggy 😉Open Controls

A: Silva & Sturridge (Both doubts)
B: Coutinho & Soldado (Both nailed on)
???Open Controls-
Is this a wc?
Open Controls-
Yes
Open Controls
-
-
B for me. I've got all four of them, but would rather get rid of Silva and Sturridge.
Open Controls-
Cheers,
I have B at the mo. I'm thinking if Benteke/Strurridge form continues I can afford them both in the future as Soldado the most expensiveOpen Controls

Take it everyone is playing Chester over Collins?
Open Controls -
Any ideas who to downgrade from my team? -2 in the bank at the moment.
Terry -> 4,0?
Terry -> Dawson and Enrique -> Toure?
Lamela -> Eriksen and Terry - Dawson?
Other ideas?
Mignolet - Boruc
Terry - Vidic - Enrique - Coleman - Collins
Nani - Hernandez - Barkley - Walcott - Lamela
Benteke - Soldado - GiroudOpen Controls-
-
defence is too heavy IMO. I'd downgrade Terry to Chester / Ward
Open Controls

Just thinking about some of the lessons i have learnt in my fantasy career:
1) Never take a hit for a Gk / Def, unless its a long term decision. This season defenders might be worth the hit due to a higher upside potential
2) Form over fixtures
3) Defensive coverage is good, attacking coverage is a myth
4) Do not plan transfers more than 3/4 gw’s in advance
5) There will always be dgw’s towards the end of season
6) Never underestimate the potential of points from setpieces/pens especially when one player is slightly less attacking then the other
7) Buy a beeeg couch if you don’t have Rvp 😉 (perhaps N/A this year)
8) Never bench a big hitter defender during tough games
9) FPL this year is going to be much more competitive due to different formations and larger set of players to choose from
Just my two cents worth, feel free to addOpen Controls-
buy a goal-scoring defender
Open Controls-
Normally yes but it's changed now the new BP system is in place. Choose one whole make the most blocks/tackles

Pick Players That Play. The No 1 Golden and Holy Law of FF. Often overlooked.

This is true on the whole, but I think you can get away with a non-playing GK

Don't chase last weeks points.
Have a little patience but not too much.Open Controls

playing Marshall over Mignolet crossed my mind 😯
Open Controls -
Need to pick 2 from 5.
Chester CAR (H)
Burner HUL (A)
Collins SOU (A)
Redmond TOT (A)
JWP WHM (H)
Roll the dice or anything more concrete to go off?
Seen that Hull haven't beaten Cardiff in the last few years so maybe Burner then it's 1 other.

Chester and JWP
