Clean sheets are the order of the day once again as Southampton and West Ham play out a goalless draw in Sunday’s only fixture. While the two sides continue to impress defensively, their inability to find the net is a real concern – both have notched just twice over the opening four fixtures:

The Game Changer

Jussi Jaaskelainen’s heroics between the sticks were once again crucial to the Hammers’ prospects today. Helping his side to a vital point at St Mary’s, the Finnish star denied Mauricio Pochettino’s side with five saves to register his third clean sheet in four matches – with just a single goal conceded to Stoke so far, the London outfit have been superb at the back and somewhat atoned for the problems up front which have seen them fail to score in three successive matches.

Up next for the Hammers is a home game against an Everton side that have one goal in three before a trip to Hull – more defensive points look likely before the schedule takes a turn for the worse from Gameweek 7 onwards.

The Underused

Seemingly out of favour under Pochettino, Nathaniel Clyne returned to the Southampton first XI for the first time this term. The right-back turned in an impressive showing and with a couple of bonus points also on the cards, he could return to Fantasy radars after shedding over 24,000 owners and dropping down to 4.4 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) – at least 0.2 cheaper than any other regular in the Saints’ defence.

With four kind home games (CPL, SWA, FUL, HUL) and a trip to Stoke in the next seven, Clyne looks set for further returns as Pochettino’s look to continue a run that has now seen them concede just twice in the opening four Gameweeks.

The Selection Poser

Clyne’s return was one of three changes from Pochettino today as Luke Shaw and Jay Rodriguez were also named in the starting line-up. While Shaw’s return was expected after he proved his fitness for the England Under 21s over the last week, his owners will be concerned after he was subbed off towards the end of the match – the player has since taken to twitter to reveal his withdrawal was due to cramp but his propensity for picking up niggles and failing to last 90 minutes is clearly becoming an issue.

Pochettino’s decision to hand Rodriguez a chance proved frustrating for James Ward-Prowse’s new owners. The youngster had started all of the first three Gameweeks and with a share of set-piece duties and kindly price tag, he was acquired by an extra 57,000 new FPL owners over the two-week international break. Handed an 19-minute second-half cameo towards the end of the stalemate, Ward-Prowse could be set for an exodus if Rodriguez keeps his place.

For the visitors, the second-half introduction of Razvan Rat could be a sign that Sam Allardyce is set to alter his full-back options. The summer signing hadn’t featured in the league prior to today but was sent on just after the hour mark in a move that allowed the versatile Joey O’Brien to switch from left-back to the opposite flank and saw Guy Demel withdrawn instead – perhaps an ominous sign for the Ivorian’s owners over the weeks to come.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

If anyone's interested, I've created a stat table which looks at which midfielders could be close to scoring or scoring again, and contains data with some of the following; passes received in the final third, shots on target, chances created and touches in the final third.

Also it's been updated. Now it contains just the ones closest to firing up!

drop GJohnson ? (bak only Oct 19)
mayb favor Cb over Fb since cb hav trend of getting BPs

    Migs (Boruc)
    Ivan - Merts - Lovren - (GJohnson) - (Baker)
    Michu - Paulinho - Lampard - HBA - (Colback)
    Giroud - Benteke - Soldado

For -4 drop GJ $6 avoid risk of GJ dropping .1 this week or wait next GW for FT?

    a Coleman $5.5 32pt 4bps (save $.5, rose .1 and not risk Coleman rising .2-.3 this week?)
    b Jagielka $5.5 25pt (6 BPS so far)
    c Vidic $6 19p (3bps so far)
    d Rio $5.5 21p (5 bps so far)
    e Walker $6 23p (3bps so far)
    f dawson $5.1 21p (1bps so far)
    g merts $5.5 11p 2bps so far
    h Colocini $5 20p (6bps)
    i fonte $4.6 28p 6bps (call it luck,but seems best cost/reward so far at 4.6, & would save $1.4)
***Lovren $5 20p 6bps who i hav has been doing well.

Played Wildcard last week and gambled on Welbeck for a week leaving funds to get Sturridge back this week, but now after reading Moyes' statement about Rooney playing up front all season I'm looking to him from GW 6. Should I do the Sturridge move this week anyway and take a 4 point hit on Rooney the week after combined with Dawson>4m or Kos>4.5m to free up the funds. Or should I miss a potential Sturridge avalanche this weekend and play Welbeck to avoid the 4 point hit next week? Whats the best way to raise the 0.9mill?

agreed. Downgrading both dawson and Kos seems ill-fated given their good fixtures and the reprioritizing of defenders this season. Don't think Sturidge is worth that degree of restructuring.

I only need to downgrade 1 of them. Maybe Dawson will be out the team by then, if not Ben Afra's fixtures might make him a candidate for the downgrade by then. Why did Moyes not pipe up about this last week ffs!!!!

I've never understood not wanting to play an attacker from one team and a defender from another. If you get points from half your players, that's a pretty good week. That said, I'm not particularly happy about playing Zab and Vidic. I may go with Brady over one of them. If I transfer, it will probably be to get Zab out. City have some tough fixtures coming up and if Zab rises, he'll be a straight swap with Luiz.

Haha! Or play Chester. But I have Ben Arfa. So I wouldn't wanna do that. And I don't wanna play Vidic. So it's basically Brady or Redmond. So I've gone for the team playing at home!

Lescott>Kos then Toure>Liverpool stand in right back then review Dawson's place in the team the following week unless he's binned before that which I doubt.

    hello DZers
Looking to offload Kolarov but am quite happy to keep this week and sell in a week's time

    a) But after this week is ShawX playable every week?
    b) If not, better of with Mert or is there another 5.5 defender who can play every week (Nasty maybe)
    c) Wilson? Is he nailed? If so, may be worth taking him and leaves me 1.0 to upgrade elsewhere

Whats the rest of your defence? Arsenal have the fixtures, but Stoke have good games also. It really depends how much you need the million.

Oscar & Che Mid Depth (only fix is Hazard & Ramires -- 2 spots for Oscar,Lamps,Willian,Mata,Schurle,De Bruyne)

    Suggestion:
1--Keep Oscar till next week x Ful, see how Che mids rotate
2--Oscar for HBA (save $1.2 and NOT risk HBA rising .3 this week to 7.4)
    3--Oscar for Ramsey (save 1.8)

        u prefer hba or eriksen..?

        Migs (Davis)
        Ivan - Merts - Zab - Coleman - (Whitaker)
        PHernandes - Paulinho - Oscar - Barkley - (Lucas)
        Giroud - Benteke - RVP

quick doubt about $. i have cash $.5
        if i drop Oscar $8.6 for hba 7.2, i save 1.4...

i was planning next week w/ ft trade Whitaker $4.2 for Vidic and but i come uo to $5,9!
        im short $.1.
if tomorrow HBA goees up another .1 to 7.3, that .1 i can use to get Vidic (since it goes to my cash) or no, that .1 only is used if i decide in future to trade HBA?

My conundrum - I need to pick two from:

    Zabaletta (home to United)
    Vidic (away to City)
    Coleman (away to West Ham)

    Thought?

I wouldn't want Zabaleta AND Vidic. So it'd have to be Coleman and Vidic. Simply because without Kompany City look weaker at the back and with RVP on the other team, they'll probably concede.

Zab is more attacking than vidic & has home advantage.

There's been a good bit of talk about Wisdom. A bit of a punt as he's not guaranteed the spot, but definitely worth considering. If he plays tomorrow/today and looks good, he could be a good option for those needing a cheap defender.

Do you really want to triple up on Arsenal attack? If they score no goals in a match your looking at a maximum of 8 points from three players... If they concede its 6 points...

How's this team for GW5? Thinking of saving the transfer.

    Mig
    Coleman - Ivanovic - Vidic
    Walcott - Lampard - Brady - Hernandez
    RVP - Giroud - Benteke

    Daniels, Chester, JWP, Burner

Tempted to bring HBA in, but Walcott or Lampard would have to make way - feel they have decent fixtures GW5.

    Thanks.
