Clean sheets are the order of the day once again as Southampton and West Ham play out a goalless draw in Sunday’s only fixture. While the two sides continue to impress defensively, their inability to find the net is a real concern – both have notched just twice over the opening four fixtures:

The Game Changer

Jussi Jaaskelainen’s heroics between the sticks were once again crucial to the Hammers’ prospects today. Helping his side to a vital point at St Mary’s, the Finnish star denied Mauricio Pochettino’s side with five saves to register his third clean sheet in four matches – with just a single goal conceded to Stoke so far, the London outfit have been superb at the back and somewhat atoned for the problems up front which have seen them fail to score in three successive matches.

Up next for the Hammers is a home game against an Everton side that have one goal in three before a trip to Hull – more defensive points look likely before the schedule takes a turn for the worse from Gameweek 7 onwards.

The Underused

Seemingly out of favour under Pochettino, Nathaniel Clyne returned to the Southampton first XI for the first time this term. The right-back turned in an impressive showing and with a couple of bonus points also on the cards, he could return to Fantasy radars after shedding over 24,000 owners and dropping down to 4.4 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) – at least 0.2 cheaper than any other regular in the Saints’ defence.

With four kind home games (CPL, SWA, FUL, HUL) and a trip to Stoke in the next seven, Clyne looks set for further returns as Pochettino’s look to continue a run that has now seen them concede just twice in the opening four Gameweeks.

The Selection Poser

Clyne’s return was one of three changes from Pochettino today as Luke Shaw and Jay Rodriguez were also named in the starting line-up. While Shaw’s return was expected after he proved his fitness for the England Under 21s over the last week, his owners will be concerned after he was subbed off towards the end of the match – the player has since taken to twitter to reveal his withdrawal was due to cramp but his propensity for picking up niggles and failing to last 90 minutes is clearly becoming an issue.

Pochettino’s decision to hand Rodriguez a chance proved frustrating for James Ward-Prowse’s new owners. The youngster had started all of the first three Gameweeks and with a share of set-piece duties and kindly price tag, he was acquired by an extra 57,000 new FPL owners over the two-week international break. Handed an 19-minute second-half cameo towards the end of the stalemate, Ward-Prowse could be set for an exodus if Rodriguez keeps his place.

For the visitors, the second-half introduction of Razvan Rat could be a sign that Sam Allardyce is set to alter his full-back options. The summer signing hadn’t featured in the league prior to today but was sent on just after the hour mark in a move that allowed the versatile Joey O’Brien to switch from left-back to the opposite flank and saw Guy Demel withdrawn instead – perhaps an ominous sign for the Ivorian’s owners over the weeks to come.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Hmmmm, i'm in need for a differential given my rank.

    Suarez = 0.6% ownership.

    I'll take that. 😉

Really stuck. Nervous about not having Giroud/Tekkers.

What would you do with this bunch?

    Boruc - Lewis
    Toure - Coleman - Shaw - Whittaker - Chester
    Walcott - Michu - Moses - Mirallas - Barkley
    Rooney - Sturridge - Soldado

    +3.1m, 1ft

I had planned to save my FT this week and do Soldado/Toure -> Evra/Suarez GW6 but I'm not sure it's wise to put them in the same team together, could be fights.

            Fair enough.

The way I see it, he's fighting with Henderson and Sterling for a spot atm and once Suarez is back we can add Aspas to that lot.

Can't see him starting enough imo but if he gets a good start maybe he will.

I don't even understand what your main formation is so I would definately chose between 433 and 343 and upgrade defence or midfield, or best both.

Mirallas, Moses, Barkley and Michu are too much of a doubt atm imo. Michu is preferance, I don't like him at the moment, but one of the other you certainly will have to upgrade. I'd suggest Ben Arfa for Moses. If you believe in Mirallas keep him but I don't and would upgrade to a premium midfielder too, Ozil, Lampard, Hazard, Coutinho, ..

          :/

despite picking a flawless team, i've wildcarded- whilst you idiots are picking up the players i saw would start well too late, i've moved on to better and new things......
    had
    sczesney (harper)
    evra zaba shaw (whittaker) (s.taylor)
mirallas ben arfa silva walcott (j.williams)
    soldado sturridge giroud

    now have
    boruc (lewis)
    dawson ferdinand wisdom coleman (turner)
walcott ben arfa hazard eriksen (morison)
    RVP giroud (bent)

my advice is follow me, copy my team, you'll be behind me so you can't catch me by doing it, but by not doing it you'l just continue to lag behind. 4th straight season inside top 4,000 looms. I Will be Champion. (hashtag legend)

Got Mignolet so it covers their good defence.

They've hardly been explosive in attack either. 1-0 1-0 1-0. Suarez and Moses in the front 4 could just mean more points shared around too!

        Tell me i'm making sense?!

you are, Cout surely not worth the price long term IMO. But short term it has a risk of hurting you a bit. But RVP could make up for that, especially if HBA keeps it up and he has been impessive

kind off i see what you're saying, but I personally think that Moses and Suarez boost the appeal of Sturridge.

No striker in the PL created more chances that Suarez last season and we know that Moses can be tricky and dangerous. Part of the problem for Pool at the start of last season was the scoring burden fell soley on Suarez, now the creative burden falls on Coutinho. Obviously Suarez will be in the goals, but i think it will alongside, rather than, at the expense of, Sturridge

Knees feeling a bit jerky. Feeling a bit peeved as WC'ed & dithered over HBA but kept Lamps. Now wondering:

Lamps - will he be playing less now Mata fit?

    So:

    A. Keep Lampo
    B.Get HBA (price rising tonight)
    C Get Erikson
    D. ANy other suggestions?

    Full team is linked. Ta!

Hate to say it but Saints badly need to start Gaston. They are badly missing a spark in the final third and I'm convinced Osvaldo is the man to provide it.

JRod or Lambert, Osvaldo is the record signing and a favourite of the manager, Gaston is the creative hub, Osvaldo the finisher

            something like

            Lallana, Gaston, JWP
            Osvaldo

JWP could lose out to JRod, or to Lambert with Gaston going wide.
