Having failed to score in Arsenal’s first four fixtures, Theo Walcott’s start to the season has been a major disappointment. While Olivier Giroud racks up the goals, the Gunners winger has yet to get off the mark and with Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey offering alternatives across the price points in the Fantasy games, Walcott’s case for inclusion in our five-man midfields hasn’t exactly been a convincing one.

With Arsene Wenger’s side primed for a superb run of fixtures which sees them face just two of last term’s top six in the next 10 Gameweeks, investment in Arsenal’s main assets seems a sensible tactic. Bearing this in mind, in this latest members article, we delve into the data and assess Walcott’s displays for the season in comparison to the previous campaign.

      Don't think resting players comes into the equation this early in the season. Any how, he'll have a weeks rest after the Fulham game before Chelsea's next match (not counting Swindon in league cup midweek).

        because there is a chance he may be rotated going forward. Ok he might play v fulham and then start the next cl game but then be rested for the next league game.

          Surely the guy who's being played the least in non-Prem competitions is the least rotation risk for the Prem.

          Course it could be random rotation and not related to competitions, and we'll have to see, but that's my hunch anyway. I think Mourinho doesn't make random decision.

            That's my thought. Mourinho has to play Terry to keep the dressing room, and Terry knows the PL like the back of his hand. I think he will play almost all of the PL games. That being said, I have him now, but I'l be transferring before the Spurs game.

                I want Baines! 😀 I'l keep Vidic ahead of Terry because of better fixtures, but would swap between them with form/fixtures/injuries/rotation.

                  Haha fair enough, you're in very good company lol. Do think Coleman is much better value this year, attacking as much as Baines from what I can see. Really comes down to, are set pieces worth an extra 2.0? Last season Baines got 5 goals 7 assists 24 BAPS, Coleman 5 assists 5 BAPS. So crudely call it 5 goals, 2 assists and 19 BAPS more for Baines. 55 more for 2.0. I suppose it is.

                    Ah just realized, Coleman was out with injury for ages. Only played 2165 minutes against 3420 for Baines.

                      OK better comparison. Baines 4.66 points per 90 minutes. Coleman 3.08 points per 90 minutes. Baines 0.62 points per 90 minutes per million. Coleman 0.56 points per 90 mintues per million. Still favours Baines I guess, unless Coleman played fixtures with fewer CS.

                        That comparison is a bit unfair because Coleman was a midfielder last season. Coleman is deffo better value, but I still think Baines is worth the money. (I'l still have 0.6m left over I don't know what to do with. 😀

                      But Coleman was often playing right midfield for Everton. I will however have both Coleman AND Baines. I have no qualms with doubling or tripling up on teams. I think with both, you effectively have two wingers in a team who look tight. It is good for points, as well as for the excitement. Baines should have has a penalty against Cardiff, hit the bar against Chelsea, and has come close at other times as well. He is also very good for bonus points. I think Baines will have his best ever season! I'l be doing Terry and Sturridge -> Baines and Lukaku (against advice! :D) Time will tell. I'v followed my own advice so far and it has worked out okay. 😉

                        Nice one. Just realized Coleman WAS classified as a right midfielder so he was getting no CS!!! imo that really boosts his score now. Liking the double up. Great idea. Will have to see if Martinez is gonna keep it tight though.

      Similar to mine so I'd like to think good. I went for Benteke instead of Giroud, Hazard instead of Eriksen, Collins and Dawson instead of Ferdi and Coleman.

      Nice post, have a delayed +1. With their fixtures it seems like madness going forward witout some Utd attacking coverage. I'm not getting RVP so it comes down to Rooney(would have to lose Soldado likely) or Valencia(he looked very good last night imo.)

    How does this sound for a hit?

    Cout / Pablo > Michu / Moses

    Alternative is to just do the Cout > Michu part and play JWP or Chester whilst benching Pablo.
