In our latest look at the Sky Sports game, we bring you the usual Gameweek data ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, bonus point winners and the current market trends all come under analysis before we examine the forthcoming Gameweek and our preferred captain setup.

Gameweek 5 Man of the Match Awards

Listed below are last weekend’s top performers according to Sky Sports reporters, with each recipient of the Man of the Match award earning an additional 5 points.

FixtureMoTM
Norwich vs Aston VillaBrad Guzan
Liverpool vs SouthamptonDejan Lovren
Newcastle vs HullSone Aluko
West Brom vs SunderlandMorgan Amalfitano
West Ham vs EvertonLeighton Baines
Chelsea vs FulhamOscar
Arsenal vs StokeMathieu Flamini
Crystal Palace vs SwanseaMichu
Cardiff vs TottenhamDavid Marshall
Man City vs Man UnitedYaya Toure

Last weekend’s fixtures saw two goalkeepers, a couple of defenders, five midfielders and one forward shared the awards. West Brom’s new midfield acquisition Morgan Amalfitano has now achieved MotM in both his games so far. Having also produced a goal and assist, the Frenchman has amassed an impressive 22 points already and looks to be decent option at only 5.4m, although there are tough fixtures for the Baggies ahead. Hull’s Sone Aluko also deserves a mention – he seems to be quite a favorite of the Sky reporting team and has claimed two MoTM awards so far.

Gameweek 5 Bonus Points

Last weekend, six goalkeepers achieved bonus points as a result of making five saves or more. Simon Mignolet and David Stockdale were in impressive form again and both have now achieved bonus points in three matches so far. Cardiff’s David Marshall racked up an impressive 11 saves at home to Tottenham, narrowly missing out on a clean sheet due to Paulinho’s late goal.

In defence, 12 players fetched bonus, nine for tackles and three for passes completed – Southampton’s centre-back Dejan Lovren has managed bonus points in three of his five games; he was also the top points scorer overall (19) last weekend, for his role in the Saints’ shock victory over Liverpool.

In midfield, 17 players picked up bonus -11 for tackling and nine for passes completed. Gareth Barry and Jon Obi-Mikel were the two players managing both although neither will be likely to see much investment due to their deep-lying roles and lack of attacking potential. Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey is the real bonus magnet at present, achieving bonus points seven times in 5 matches – on average it takes him just 34 minutes pitch time to gain bonus.

Fantasy Football Scout members can access all information regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

The Transfer Trends

Top Transfers Out

NameTeamValue% of Managers
CoutinhoLiverpool7.86.92%
Van PersieMan Utd105.63%
BentekeAston Villa95.18%
RoseTottenham4.74.11%
WalcottArsenal8.52.45%

Injury dominates Fantasy managers’ thoughts here. Philippe Coutinho, Christian Benteke and Theo Walcott are definitely ruled out this weekend, though the latest news however suggests that Tottenham’s left-back Danny Rose could feature from the start and that Robin Van Persie could play some part in Man United’s home tie to West Brom, according to David Moyes earlier today.

Top Transfers In

NameTeamValue% of Managers
RamseyArsenal5.87.97%
OzilArsenal8.85.75%
GiroudArsenal8.54.96%
Ben ArfaNewcastle5.94.04%
OscarChelsea7.63.65%

Maintaining the theme from the last few weeks, Arsenal players find themselves shifted into Fantasy teams at an ever increasing rate – form and fixtures continue to justify heavy investment. Chelsea’s Oscar – seemingly Jose Mourinho’s preferred option to be fielded in “the hole” – comes in at a respectable 7.6m, though it remains to be seen if he will fall victim to further rotation in the coming months as the schedule picks up pace.

Gameweek 6 Proposed Captain Strategy

Time to cast an eye at Gameweek 6 and where to place the captain’s armband. Again we highlight two options, one with the potential for three captains (albeit with a transfer used) and the other a more cautious approach with only two captains used – this tactic will prepare you for the next Gameweek.

Captain Option 1

You have a captain playing in Saturday’s fixtures and use a transfer to switch to one taking part in Sunday’s encounter; you then use your captain change to select a player from Monday night’s game. If you followed our advice last week you should be coming into this Gameweek with the armband on a Manchester United player. For example:

Our Strategy:
Wayne Rooney → Luis Suarez → Romelu Lukaku

Using the above strategy you would go into Gameweek 7 with the armband on Romelu Lukaku who plays on Saturday October 5 away to Manchester City.

Captain Option 2

You have a captain playing Saturday and use a captain change to a player featuring in Sunday’s/Mondays matches. Missing out on 3 captains but keeping hold of a valuable sub. For example:

Our Strategy:
Alvaro Negredo → Luis Suarez

Using this method you would come into Gameweek 7 with Luis Suarez as your captain for Liverpool’s home clash with Crystal Palace next Saturday.

The Fantasy Football Scout League

Make sure your joined up to our own Fantasy Football Scout League this season which is currently top of the Private League rankings. With a £1,000 prize to the winner, there’s plenty incentive to get involved. To join, visit Sky Sports Fantasy Football and key in League Name: FFScout, League Code: 8000112.

The Fantasy Football Club

If you missed Thursday’s show, you can still catch Fenners and Merse this evening at 18:30 Skysports One HD where they will be discussing the previous week’s Fantasy Football events, chatting to Tore Andre Flo and asking Jonas Gutierrez for his one2evelen.

    afternoon all' advice please
    Soldado for Rooney Dilemma:

1-- HIT -4 (worthy to take) drop Soldado for Rooney x WBR
(hoping rooney can outdo the hit -4 w/a goal or assist etc)
    or
2--Play Soldado x CHE? (and drop him this weekend for FT for rooney)

Soldado is dropping tonite for sure from 9.6 to 9.5...basically avoid the price down or avoid the hit -4 dropping him 2 day

Seems youve lost confidence in Soldado regardless, and therefore not expecting anything this week from him . In which case you might as well do it now.

this given the bad streak of soldado has not scored a goal open pitch.

Armband is currently on Rooney is he the best captain choice out of this lot? You can guarantee which ever keeper I bench will outscore the one that I choose to play.

    Mignolet (Boruc)

Remarkable, Lukaku appears as obsessed as we are.

"Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has revealed that he watches every second of every Premier league match in a bid to improve his game."

"Lukaku scored 17 goals while at West Brom in 2012-13 and says that he tries to absorb as much as possible about the movements and techniques of fellow strikers and opposition defenders.

He told Metro: "It's true that I watch every single game in the league - 90 minutes.

"I take my time to study and to learn other strikers' movements and to learn about other defenders. I take my time.

"Really I want to be one of the best in this league so you can only learn from the best by watching the best. After training I go home and record every game. I have a satellite and I just watch the games."

It serves his ultimate goal of becoming one of the best players that the world has ever seen, with his loan spell all about taking his game to the next level.

"My aim is to go down as one of the greatest," Lukaku added. "That's why I'm at Everton. I'm here to help the team, the team is here to help me."

Do I take Theo out now using my FT, with 9.6m in the bank.

    Who would I get?

I'm worried about Oscar's rotation after Jose comments about Mata getting more minutes.

I'm not sure Yaya will keep getting goals this often.

Should I keep my FT until next week, then id have 2 FT's & I could get Ozil for Theo?

Had to W/C due to several injuries and a poor start. Opinions appreciated. Thanks 🙂

Don't want to cpt Rooney as most of my league have him. So who would you cpt out of the following?.

Berba, Ozil, Gerrard, Nasri, Sturridge and Nolan?

        Thanks
