A certain Uruguayan is the headline act this week as we run the rule over a trio of overlooked Fantasy alternatives. An in-form City midfielder also makes the cut after impressing in last week’s hammering of United, while Fulham’s top scorer from last term is called upon after helping ditch Everton out of the cup in midweek:

Luis Suarez

The script almost seems written for the Liverpool talisman this weekend. In his first league appearance since biting Branislav Ivanovic back in April, Suarez makes his way to basement-dwellers Sunderland, with the Black Cats licking their wounds after picking up a single point in the first five Gameweeks.

With Paolo Di Canio handed his P45 after last Saturday’s disastrous defeat at West Brom, the Wearsiders will be hoping to turn the corner but face an uphill task at the Stadium of Light this Sunday. Suarez plundered three goals and an assist in the league against Sunderland last term and having been handed a role up top alongside Daniel Sturridge as Brendan Rodgers rolled out a 3-5-2 for the midweek cup tie against United, look set to be fielded through the middle once again as the Reds look to recover from a couple of back-to-back defeats in all competitions.

A Fantasy sensation in the season gone by, Suarez has plenty to atone for as he looks to regain the form that harvested 23 goals and 10 assists in 2012/13. Already, the bandwagon has been a significant one this week – over 131,00 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have snapped up the Uruguayan since last weekend. Coming in at 10.9 in FPL, 9.9 in the Sky Sports game and 7.5 in the Sun Dream Team, he has a superb run of fixtures over the next few weeks (CPL, new, WBA, ars, FUL, eve, hul, NOR, WHM) to make the right kind of impact this time around.

Samir Nasri

Mainly overshadowed by Yaya Toure’s displays in the City midfield so far, the Frenchman has, nonetheless, offered plenty to suggest he’s stepping up in consistency after a poor previous campaign. Nasri’s goal in the Manchester derby was his second of the season – equalling his tally for 2012/13 already – and with an assist also thrown in over the first five Gameweeks, he’s been quick to pick up the points in Manuel Pellegrini’s free-scoring side.

With David Silva once again ruled out through injury, Nasri’s starting role looks secure as City pay visit to a Villa side with injury doubts hanging over a number of their first-team regulars. Coming in at 8.0 in FPL, 6.3 in the Sky Sports game and 4.0 in the Sun Dream Team, the former Arsenal man looks a real under-the-radar option for those eyeing up a short-term punt before Silva returns to tussle for the role on the City left.

Dimitar Berbatov

There’s no doubt it’s been an underwhelming start to the season for Fulham’s maverick Bulgarian. With 15 goals in his debut year at the Cottage, Berbatov was one of the Fantasy sensations of the previous campaign but after five rounds of fixtures he sits with just a single league assist to his name as Martin Jol’s side struggle to show any semblance of form.

A goal in the midweek Capital One Cup win over Everton brings Berbatov back into consideration as Fulham prepare for a kind run of games which begins with a home clash against Cardiff tomorrow. Following the Bluebirds clash, Jol’s men welcome Stoke to the Cottage before hitting the road to face Palace and Southampton; with confidence growing after the Toffees triumph, Berbatov – down to 7.2 in FPL and priced at 8.6 in the Sky Sports game and 4.5 in the Sun Dream Team – could be set to take advantage of such a schedule and fire Fulham back up the table.

Finalizing WC team. A or B is better?

    Migs - Lewis
    Baines - Dawson - Clyne - xxxx - xxxx
    Ozil - Ramsey - Barkley - xxxx - xxxx
    Rooney - Sturridge - Giroud

    A: Vidic + Wilson + Y.Toure + Moses
    B: Ferdinand + Burner + Michu + Paulinho/HBA

For A -> I'm reluctant to sell Y.Toure as he faces avl and EVE, so I'm consider to delay an upgrade Y.Toure to Michu on Gw8.

For B -> Get Michu now and get Paulinho as Spurs cover instead of Moses.

He could easily score this week.

Need another 2 GW's of watching Spurs to get a handle on who is actually worthy of a spot in our teams.

    Moses, Brady, Ramsey, HBA
    RVP, Suarez (c), Giroud (v)

    Davis; JWP, Turner, Chester

took a hit (-4) Walcott, Benteke for Ramsey, Suarez.

    Morning all,

And good luck for today! Nearly there with the WC.

    Team is

    Migs (Boruc)
    Evra Coleman Clyne (Dawson) (BTurner)
    Nasri Michu Ramsey Oscar Whittingham
    Rooney Suarez Negredo

Going crazy over the 3rd up front place! Anyone going for Lambert today? Can't decide between him and Suarez. Would you rather have:

    A) Suarez and 5.9 ITB for a mid
    B) Lambert and 9.3 ITB for a mid
    C) Lukaku and 9.3 ITB for a mid

All three could explode IMO. Getting Lambert or Lukaku frees up cash for a mid, maybe Oscar? Tough game against spurs but looks like if anything happens will most like go through him. But then Suarez could be the top differential, with Lambert not on fire and Lukaku not nailed on....

Will continue going round in circles in my head but any advice appreciated 🙂

    Cheers!

The thing is that I don't see Rooney outscoring RVP by much once he hits form, plus Roon more injury prone. I need to see more to ditch RVP.

Can't cap RVP with doubts over his gametime and Suarez's hunger for goals might come through.

Michu and Clyne next in line.

Yes. In the gospel according to Paul, verily it states: "The 7.5 priced forward has just one converted spot-kick to his name thus far but he could well be set to find form tomorrow – the Eagles have conceded twice in both away games so far and are without the influential Damien Delaney at the back for the St Mary’s match."

I've put ozil in my wildcard team but can't help wonder if he is worth the cash. I know I wouldn't captain him over giroud, yet giroud is cheaper. That's never a good sign. Obviously he's world class but FF is all about greedy goalscorers.

I think on most weeks he will be a good captain choice as long as Arsenal keep scoring so much. They're scoring so much lately and since he's come in he's immediately become involved. He's one of the best players in the world and he's playing in a very attacking team at the moment.

How is this WC team looking

    Boruc myhill
    vidic burner wilson kolorav coleman
    brady miralas michu erikson ramsey
    suarez rooney giroud

I think its a bloody good team! BUT because its well balanced, i have to start one of wilson/brady/ramsey i.e. points on the bench..next week will be easier benching decision with eve playing city away.

If i want to remove the benching decision, I would need to upgrade someone...the only upgrading option i can think of is either ramsey >> Ozil (4.2) or coleman >> Baines (2.3m). So

A: Leave team as it is
B: upgrade a big hitter but then how do i fund it??

An 8 pt hit should be viable if you can't possibly field 11 players and your bench doesn't look good for the job. If that's the case go for it, if not avoid. Hope this makes sense.

i agree but he's really Fulham's best fpl option and their fixtures are great, and that would mean next week I could get in Ozil and Vertonghen for Chester and Hazard

My advice is to always go with your gut, Hommie! I like the Cottagers fixtures as well (5/8 of them look winnable), I'm just hoping they can find a way to get it together, and make the most of this chance. Good luck today!

Which defender do you think is the best option to 5.5 mil? The rest of the defence is :

    Boruc/Lewis
    Baines/Vidic/Wilson/Burner/xxx

I am thinking about Sakho as I don't have Pool defensive coverage, he is nailed on and they have great fixtures. Any other ideas? Thanks in advance.

I'd give Sakho another round or two, altough it does seem he'll carry on playing.
Arsenal defenders like Mertesacker offer decent value as well.

What are your thoughts about Kolarov ? He's 5.3, on freekicks & corners, has decent attacking impact. Also there is Nastasic 🙂
p.s. IMO Sakho will rotate through the season with Kolo and Enrique, so he is not that much nailed on.

Kolarov looks god but now with Clichy back I'm not sure that he will play every match for long term. Nastasic looks nailed on so I may go for him or Mert. Thanks guys for the help.

    Wildcard team last version:

    Mignolet, Boruc
    B.Turner, Clyne, Vidic, Coleman, Mertesacker
Yaya Toure, Michu, Barkley, Ozil, Whittingham
    Lukaku, Giroud, Rooney (C).

    Any ideas?

That part I'm not decided yet, but with their opponents its probably a safer choice.

But I like Mertesacker as a longer term Arsenal option.

Wanted to have someone from Liverpool upfront but it seems I just can't fit them in 🙁

my problem with Dawson was that there is still someone in contention with his spot (can't remember who exactly) but it put me off a bit.

            Good luck to you too!

What is the best 3.9 defender for the long haul (i.e., likelihood of consistent game time)? Looking for my 3rd bencher to complete my WC team and only have 3.9 to spend.

    Rest of team:

    Boruc (K. Davis)
    Baines, Rafael, Wilson, Clyne (Baker)
    Ozil, Michu, Erickson (Kasami, Thomas)
    Rooney, Giroud, Suarez

    If one is after a quick RMT or bench check, is preferable to;
    a) post a snapshot to imgur and provide the link
    b) write out the team as normal in the post
    c) piss off already with these silly questions

Also - Lukaku or Ozil as (C) ?"
