As David Moyes’ teamsheet leaves the door ajar for an inspired West Brom to silence Old Trafford, Arsenal, driven on by their Welsh starlet once again, grab their opportunity to set the Premier League pace.

The Game Changer

Aaron Ramsey’s extraordinary ascendency continues. A fourth league goal at the Liberty tonight ensured the points for the Gunners and handed Ramsey’s Fantasy owners a second double figure haul, with the Welshman also assisting Serge Gnabry’s opener.

The clamour for Ramsey will now continue and, after two consecutive 0.3 price rises in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, it seems we’re witnessing one the most rapid and relentless bandwagons since Michu burst on to the scene last season.

With Ramsey’s form showing incredible consistency, it seems assured that Wenger will keep him installed as a key figure in his midfield, despite the availability of Mikel Arteta and the impending return of Santi Cazorla. Rest and rotation may eventually bite, even with that risk, Ramsey remains almost impossible to ignore.

His army of Fantasy owners will be rejoicing this evening. The rest will be wondering if they should swallow their pride and get on board, despite missing the rise of 0.7. While it feels like chasing points, those points show little sign of slowing up.

The Underused

Morgan Amilfitano was United’s chief tormenter at Old Trafford. An outstanding display was capped by his second goal in consecutive matches and was coupled with an assist for the Baggies winner. The Frenchman’s impact on the Baggies has been profound and Steve Clarke appears to unearthed a gem.

With maximum bonus on their way, Amilfitano has brought in 24 points in his three Premier League appearances and is now blinking brightly on our radars as a low-to-mid price midfield asset.

His arrival at the Hawthorns created little publicity, with the signings of Stephane Sessegnon and Victor Anichebe allowing him to land in the midlands without fanfare. Certainly, his statistics over his previous two seasons at Marseille were underwhelming: two goals and seven assists from 60 league games hardly earmarked him for immediate attention from Fantasy managers.

Three matches in, however, and it’s clear that Amilfitano has been rejuvenated and, despite West Brom’s tough schedule, he represents a major consideration for those looking to free up funds from their midfield.

The Selection Poser

We saw rotation in the United lineup prior to matchday one of the Champions League and, today, it materialised again. While we should not detract from the performance of West Brom, the United teamsheet was surely a contributing factor behind their shock 2-1 reverse.

Defensively, David Moyes’ side were far from secure without the assured presence of Patrice Evra and, in particular Nemanja Vidic. The omission of both ahead of Wednesday’s tie with Shakhtar Donetsk came as a surprise. It was anticipated that Rio Ferdinand would be the more likely to be rotated out, with club captain Vidic hailed only this week by Moyes as the best central defender he’s ever managed.

It remains to be seen if the United boss repeats such a policy in matches to come. Clearly he has options and the means to rotate his defence, making it difficult for Fantasy managers to assess the options on offer at a time when their fixtures had suggested the promise of defensive returns. Today’s lineup and result surely calls for a rethink.

In attack, Robin van Persie was kept on the bench until United were forced to chase the game. While the Dutchman was fit enough for selection, Moyes chose to keep him from the fray and presumably preserve him for European action.

Prior to matchday one of the Champions League in Gameweek 4, Van Persie was replaced with 11 minutes remaining against a 10-man Palace and back then, we highlighted the possibility of limited pitch time to come with Moyes protecting his star asset. Moyes’ decision to start without him today not only provided further frustration for his Fantasy owners, denting Van Persie’s stock once again, it surely provided a boost for visitors West Brom, inspiring them to put on a performance that ultimately proved too much for a weakened and out-of-sorts United.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I still have 7 players left to play but its always jarring when all your big names stumble. Vidic didn't play and a massive midfield of Ozil Michu and Oscar has netted me 6pts. >:( Rooney just about crossed the finish line. They'll come good though.

As a Utd fan it hurts to hear this..... 😕

Putting my bias to one side I'd say that we certainly shouldn't consider them as an nasty fixture anymore. But with Vidic & Evra back plus Fellaini starting then they should be more formidable. Think the same can be said for all of last years top 3 though surely.

75%. He played well so would be surprised if he did not keep his place for at least one more match. He will get dropped at some point though with Chadli sig Lennon lamela all seemingly competing with him for the 2 wide spots. Was very surprised lamela did not even come off the bench yesterday

    Hello all.

I've wilcarded last week and this is my team.

    Boruc - Lewis

    Dawson - Baines - Vidic - Wilson - Toure

    Ozil - Michu - Paulinho

    Rooney - Suarez - Lukaku

I am content with my team until GW9 therefore ive got 2 free transfers. Would you use them to go for a one week punt next week in replacement of Baines or Lukaku and getting him back for GW 8, or would you use them on 2 long term replacements for this team. Keep in mind I've just wilcarded so my team doesn't need much fixing up.

I don't have any transfers needed from GW 7,8,9. Might as well take Baines out for Vertonghen and put Baines back GW8 for hull no? Would still have 2 free transfers for GW10

It's a sound move in theory. But remember Baines price has increased so you'll be paying more to get him back. Also these short term moves rarely pay off. I know I've needed a transfer or two almost every week.

Brilliant decision by the Saints board to get change managers half way through last season despite Adkins doing quite well. Its much better to jump the gun early and capitalise on a good start rather than wait for it to be wasted away.

2nd 8pt hit paying off well so far with Rooney and Ramsey, just hoping Baines can complete the rout. Its simply a fantastic feeling when it comes off straight away. Are others contemplating hits this week and would you do so more regularly this season?

Absolutely its looking good provided HBA stays quiet, Ozil will be a good long term pick as well. Its annoying hanging onto expensive players like Walcott too who are injured. I got rid of Benteke, Walcott and Chester they simply aren't worth keeping.

HBA needs to get at least 12 points for me not to have broke even, i'll still get more points long term imo anyway.

When i do hits i look at the next 3/4 weeks as well not just one week, some times you just need to take a -4 to make your team 10 points better over the next few weeks.

I agree entirely and that was my reasoning too, although in my case it was fairly straight forward as I traded out 3 injured players. Yes I do think you're trades will pay off and its an added bonus when they pay off in the very first week.

How to improve this defence? 0.8M bank.

Zabaletta- Coleman Clyne - Collins --Chester

Collins or Chester needs to go. Chester (injured) looks obivious choice but I may ditch Collins first because WHU fixtures I will rarely use Collins and dont want to waste 0.5M (Collins 4.5M, Chester 4M selling value)

Lucky trade I think as I was very skeptical about Ramsey. It was a last minute decision with a very quick use of the comparison tool between Oscar and Ramsey. If I had known about the 7/8 shot/goal stats I probably wouldn't have bought him.

I'm definitely considering Dawson. My feeling is that as long as Spurs are looking defensively solid, which they very much are, then can't see any reason why AVB will switch things up. Plus they have Europa & Cup games to give others a run out.

Who knows later down the line it might come back to bite you, but right now Dawson is racking up the points for a mere 5.1mil

last season i was an FF amateur. i jumped on nearly every Bandwagon at the start of the season. it worked out incredibly well. i finished the season on rank 184 (!!).

this season i'm a more advanced FF player (especially after last years rank). i haven't been jumping on all Bandwagons anymore this season.
now i'm ranked at 1.3m because i havent got the likes of Yaya, Ramsey, etc..

Sounds like lady luck was with you last year (you're not that awesome 😉 ) and the luck is not with you this year (you're not that awful).

Luck really plays a big part. But I wouldn't say jumping on every band wagon is the way to go. Some band wagons (backed up by the stats & watching them play) are obviously worth it though.

No obvious captain choices next week so do you think it might be worth taking a -4 and bringing in Suarez for Soldado? or rely on Ozil, Rooney to do the damage

actually Soldado has West Ham so might as well give him one more game, he isn't looking threatening at all though

Might be a decent move - whilst Soldado always looks good and on the verge, I swapped him out for Rooney before this weekend. There's only so long you can sit with potential and not product. Eriksen/Paulhino/Siggy all look viable spurs mids...

depends who else you're getting out for the hit

Soldado's fixtures get easier for a few weeks now; and the team has had a bit more time to gel

1 more gw and we're on int'l break again; might want save FTs and/or hits for that

Considering how City conceded 3 goals this week (one of them was free kick) and 1 goal (Rooney's free kick) last week. Baines away to Man City next weekend isn't too bad, right?

Should i play Baines (mci) or Play one of Clyne (SWA) and Burner (NEW) ?

You went with two of them at last.. 😯

It'd be great for u if they keep CS on Monday.

I sold Coleman and kept Baines only. I felt not so right with that decision as Coleman is also decent in his way of getting in the box. Anyway, I just hope it won't backfire.

Always the big dilemma with Baines - risk loosing defensive points for the chance of attacking points. Personally I'd go Burner out of those three.

Such is the epic-ness of Ramsey's form that this is actually a legitimate question.

Problem is listed in this article -- when you know you could have had him for less than 6m, it's hard to let go of that price mindset and assess him rationally. This forum and principled stands do not help us sometimes: the fact is if you could get an in-form Arsenal CAM for 6.5, that would be a tremendous bargain.

Yaya is the exact same for me -- nailed-on, in-form City midfielder w spot kicks for 9.5 should be hard to resist.

    Hey DZers!...

    Mignolet (Boruc)

    Zabaleta - Vidic - Dawson (Chester-inj, Chambers-not playing)

Ozil - Lampard - Moses - Barkley (JWP)

    Giroud - Sturridge - Rooney

    1FT and £2.5 stacked.

    a) Chester>Wilson/Whittaker and bank £2.0/£2.3?

    B) Chester>Terry and bank £0.5?

    3) Chambers>Fonte/Lovren and bank £1.7/£1.4?

    4) JWP>Ramsey and bank £0.8?

    E) Take a hit to remove 2 of the above?
