Back after a five-week break, Granville and I have squeezed in two holidays, two wildcards, an engagement (certainly not to each other), a dose of man flu and a near-on leg amputation. Packed, I tell thee.

The other highlight has been the steady and consistent decline of my Fantasy season, giving my co-host Granville plenty of ammunition. Reclined in his armchair, leg braced like James Stewart, the stricken Mancunian leaves his Rear Window to investigate the brutal murder of my fantasy team.

Once the taunting dies down, we manage to tackle the old regulars: bandwagons are assessed, the weekend is previewed and the ScoutCast team gets some love on its way to outscoring my lineup for a fifth week running. Sigh.

      HBA. Play the attacker. Moreover newcastle's fixtures worsen after this, if you don't play him vs Cardiff, you won't play him again.

    Best option here chaps? A) seems the more conservative/sensible, but I guess it comes down to whether Sturridge + 4 points + circa 1.5m is better than Suarez over the medium term?

    So Benteke expected back for TOT. makes Tottenham's defensive schedule look pretty bad all of a sudden with 3 good games and 4 horrid ones in the next 7(avl eve mci MANU). Getting Terry over Walker may actually work out

    whos playing FIFA 14? just got it yesterday. have to say, they have really made it difficult to build up to a chance, you gotta really be sharp now. Defending is pretty much similar but man Im fighting for a lot of goalless draws here. anyone else agree? I mean Im not complaining, I think its better, more realistic now.

      Same old for me. Too easy. But maybe that's because I play way too often 😆

      But I agree, it's a lot more realistic EXCEPT for speed. A player on a breakaway gets caught 99% of the time by the defender... 🙄

      i think it's more down to artificial difficulty. Rather than make the opponents smarter they've forced errors onto us due to mistakes with the first touch etc. Pretty darn irritatin if you ask me. I prefer the arcade speed of fifa 13 or the realism of PES 14. This is the worst fifa i've played for a while

      I'm finding strength is as useful as pace, defenders can just push strikers off the ball if they're going through on goal and inversely strong strikers can hold off defenders

      Once you get used to it scoring goals and creating chances happens a lot more often. It clicked for me after an epic 5-4 win in seasons 😉 Rooney goal in injury time as well

      That being said the "local press" at tyneside sayin Obertan may start for Barfa! If that is true(and i doubt it) Pardew is such a mug.. Looks like he's gonna ignore attack altogether if he does that.     Does anyone really believe Barfa will start on the bench away to Cardiff? They have a solid defence and anything less than a win won't go down well with Newcastle fans. Surely Barfa's trickery will be essential in that fixture.

    If Pardew doesn't start him and they lose then Newcastle fans will be demanding that he be sacked.

                I don't think you need to have 3 of them. Besides Cabaye is the box to box midfielder, Sissoko bizarely is the CAM and one of Anita/Tiote is normally the DM.

        All of those players have had their moments of form (wasn't that long ago Tiote was touted for ManU). Sissoko is simply hopeless in the CAM role, he needs to drop deeper and defend more, Santon likewise. HBA has been judged unfairly as its not really his job to do all the defending. Santon and Sissoko should be doing much more.

          Agreed.. A player like Ben Arfa contributes soooo much attackin wise that the rest of the team should try to fit him in by covering for him etc. Santon, Sissoko, tiote dont do that at all. Yanga having the worst game of his life dint help things at the weekend either. Neither has Colo's poor form.. Jeez, they drop Barfa and that is a very week team

      Gaz Downright made a good point earlier. Townsend is in the form of his life and at a critical age where he either steps it up a notch or doesn't, so it would be foolish for AVB to bench him now. Lamela will be bought into the fold later, but for now he's the supersub in the Prem and relegated to cup games.

    One last thing I forgot to mention about FIFA 14 as I get set to play another hour of it,

    buying players is now a big fat pain in the ass. I dont want to have to scout players in a certain region so that I may or may not get to see their attributes and then decide their worth. I just want to go to the world player pool, put in how much I want to spend, and browse from there. Friggin pain in the ass!

        ok one last one last thing, and this one may make me sound crazy....

        does anyone here a faint beep from time to time when playing a match, seems to usually occur when possession changes or a chance is about to occur. Anyone hear that damn beep and can explain the purpose of it? or am I just mad?
