As Tottenham gear up for an eye-catching run of fixtures, many Fantasy managers are lining up a route into Andre Villas-Boas’ attacking options. With Roberto Soldado failing to justify a place in our three-man frontlines, attentions have turned to midfield and, despite the re-emergence of Gylfi Sigurdsson in the last few weeks, doubts over his long-term starting role has seen our attentions focus on a couple of the club’s summer signings.

Paulinho and Christian Eriksen have both been subject to much debate on the site this week, with investment rising across the Fantasy games. In this next article for members, we cast an eye over their respective displays for the north London club and also analyse the Brazilian’s performances with and without the former Ajax man, in order to ascertain just what effect – if any – Eriksen has had on his fellow new boy.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Was confident that I'd be alright, but pressers haven't convinced me. Really don't want to take a hit but what would you do?

    Migs (Rudd)

    Zaba (?) - Kos - Clyne (M.Turner - Brayford)

    Hazard (?) - Michu - Eriksen - Barkley (Brady)

    Rooney (?) - Sturridge - Giroud

Only playing sub is Turner (playing chelsea)...

Obviously answer is neither with Mata's renaissance as they will rotate across all competitions and no chance of working out who will play when.

If pressed then Mata - I think it was Jose's assertive power trip.

      There is a third option.

Moyes turns United's scoring into a midtable team and both are poor options.

Wanted a few more thoughts over this WC team for the weekend:

      WC team:

      Vorm (Lewis)
      Fonte/Terry/Dawson (Baines, Rosenior)
      Michu/Ozil(v)/Ramsey/Amalfitano (Barkley)
      Lukaku/Rooney/Sturridge(c)

Thoughts? In particular, bench for the weekend (feel kinda silly leaving Baines on the bench, but they are a). away, b). at a pissed-off City...also, would you get in Sigurdsson/Oscar over anyone in midfield?

You can't bench Baines! Even against City. He takes all of Everton's set pieces, including pens, hence the hefty price tag. I would prefer Suarez over Sturridge, but maybe you don't have the funds. However, If you aren't even going to play Baines, you may as well swap him out for Distin or Coleman and use the funds for Suarez. Alternatively you could swap out a very expensive Ozil for Yaya Toure/Ocar/Eriksen? You already have Ramsey in your midfield from Arsenal.

Other than that, it looks pretty strong. Good luck.

      Hi,

      I have

      Hart
      Dawson, Baines, Baker
      Ramsey, Toure, Eriksen, Barkley,
      Suarez, Giroud, Rooney

I'm wondering why people are debating over whether to have Eriksen or Paulihno... why not have both? Or would it be wrong to transfer Kasami, and lose either Rooney or Giroud to put Paulinho in a 5 man midfield with Suarez and either Rooney or Giroud up front? Considering Spurs' next run of matches.

I'm wondering where or not I should do this. Hmmmm...

Definately not! You have to remember that the chances of one of them scoring points is directly affecting the other ones chances of scoring points. Sure one of them may assist the other ones goal, but is that more likely than Giroud or Rooney scoring? No way. I would be wary of overloading any position with more than one player from each team. I tend to go for links. So if I have a defender from Tottenham (Walker), then I allow myself a Tottenham midfielder (Eriksen). I also have Lukaku and Barkley, Ozil and Giroud, Wilson and Arnautovic. I think that pairs work well, but not in the same part of the field. If Tottenham draw 0-0 for example, it is likely that you will only score 4-6 (4 if their both booked) points for your pair of midfielders. If you have a Tottenham defender aswell, you will score 6-12 points for your pair.

Bottom line is that it will only pay off if both of your midfield players have a blinder and assist each other in scoring. You would be much better off with 3 up top.

Thanks for the sound advice. That has cleared things up for me. The next and final thing I'm really considering is using my FT to lose Yaya and put Michu in instead. I've got a feeling Yaya will get held up against Everton whereas Michu has a great run of games ahead on good form.

I have Michu and not Yaya Toure so I can't really advise against that. Michu is playing a VERY advanced role atm. Against Arsenal he was basically a striker for most of the game. He has created more chances than any other player this season.

In fact if you look at the next post, my team is there. Quite simular to yours. Swansea have a good run of games and I am going with Distin to Davies if all goes to play this weekend. I think Swansea are worth investment.

I got Eriksen In for gameweek 4 and I have to say I am not pleased with the returns for 8m. He has looked dangerous though so hopefully he can take advantage of weaker opposition this weekend, and he is at home so the expectation is there.

So far Paulinho has been much better value so you would have to say he is the better option if your not already invested in one. I am holding onto Eriksen for this week at least. If he comes up with another low score I may stert to loose a bit of patience. He has only played 3 games though remember. You will look a fool if you get rid and he comes good during Tottenham's kind run of fixures.

Can I have an RMT please. I usually find RMT's on here a bit tedious, but I have a question to go with it. Do you think it is a bit 'template'?

      Mignolet
      Ivanovic, Walker, Distin, Clyne, Wilson
      Eriksen, Ozil, Michu, Barkley, Arnautovic
      Lukaku, Suarez, Giroud

I am very happy with my team and am in the top 50k, but it's a bit boring, isn't it?
