Emerging from the bench in Gameweek 5 to grab Everton’s winner at West Ham, Romelu Lukaku signalled his intentions to nail down a starting berth on Merseyside. Deemed surplus to requirement by parent club Chelsea for the second consecutive season, the big Belgian’s season-long loan deal is already looking a canny piece of business by Roberto Martinez after he racked up four goals in his first three appearances.

Having dropped down to 7.4 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, Lukaku’s haul of 29 points across his trio of fixtures for the Toffees has seen him recently return to his original price of 8.0. With a double for Belgium against Croatia last Friday ensuring he remains at the forefront of our Fantasy thinking, Lukaku is already the fourth most popular forward in the game with an ownership of 22% – highlighting the remarkable turnaround in his appeal as Fantasy managers jump on the bandwagon ahead of Saturday’s game with Hull.

So often utilised as a sub under Steve Clarke at West Brom last year, his prospects of starts were handed a significant boost after Martinez declared during the current international break:

“Romelu can be as good as he wants to be. He will get the opportunity here. He will have the time to experiment things and try things. Remember that he hasn’t played many 90 minutes in his career and it is important he does play 90 minutes for us because that allows his game to go into full flow. That is the way he is as a player. How many games did he play 90 minutes at West Brom? He was involved in 35 games – how many did he play in [from the start]? Seven. So it is like seeing a young man who has now become a proper man with an important role and that’s what we want him to have here. This is the first time in his career that he is going to take that role so everything is in his hands.”

With this in mind, in this latest article for members, we take a look at the statistics in order to ascertain whether Lukaku’s role within the Everton set-up differs from what he offered up at the Hawthorns in the previous campaign:

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

but utd as a whole need to get it together right? it's not that he's been missing heaps of chances. maybe 1 or 2, but nothing serious, he's just not getting much of a look in. plus he's scoring for holland

Great article! Thanks for that, Paul. All good news. A little alarmed by the unsustainably high goal conversion rate which is bound to come down (see Giroud) but he's getting plenty of service & shots. I am happy with him in my team now.

    Hey КАПИТАН CS ШИРО…,

Just read that article on irish football and it's utter nonsense, just like 99% of the dung that flies out of Keane's mouth. Ireland got the the quarter finals of Italia 90 only to lose 1-0 from a slip - parried shot - from Pat Bonner that Schillachi tucked away. Italy, the hosts, were lucky to beat us. In them days Charlton turned his back on good players and went with hoof tactics to the front two, and, because of same, was made an honorary Irish man.

Keane is indeed the best player to pull on the green but up his hole. He was the one to get us to japan?Korea only to abandon ship when he wasn't getting his way. How come as a player or a manager he was never wrong, never willing to put his hand up? All he was and still is is a bully, easy knowing he was playing under Ferguson as a lot of his bully tactics have rubbed off.

    Brilliant footballer - absolutely.
    Human being - tosser.

I would bet the person writing the article is a united fan too.

    as there's maths and probability involved in this game, i thought i'd see how people think;

Suppose you're on a game show, and you're given the choice of three doors: Behind one door is a car; behind the others, goats. You pick a door, say No. 1, and the host, who knows what's behind the doors, opens another door, say No. 3, which has a goat. He then says to you, "Do you want to pick door No. 2?" Is it to your advantage to switch your choice?

        and for cosgri;

ok. the original pick is a 1/3 shout. therefore the chance your wrong is 2/3. there's the assumption that the host knows the answer and he shows a wrong answer (which he can do every time).he takes one out, therefore the remaining non-picked option goes to a 2/3 chance. it doesn't become 50:50.

easier to illustrate if you there's a 100 doors.

Its that dam double SWA mid field coverage conundrum as I already have Michu. Suppose the same could be said about ARS as well once Walcott good to go as I already have Ozil.

Looking at his value at 5.9, then if he gets close to last years points we are looking at 3 points per game from now on average - need to hit him at the right time and it gets more complicated with bloody European away trips to Russia....

    Captain has to be suarez.

Newcastle with Colo out. Saylor just returning from injury and out of form (not that this would of mattered), debuchy cant defend for his life and Santon is not much better.

Hes VC for me. But Liverpool vs Newcastle are typically high scoring. Pardew is a clueless and his best defender is out.

The only defender that can partner saylor (if he plays) with are Williamson (Championship level) and Mbiwa, who is far from proven.

I have 2FT and have no idea what transfer to make. Don't want to waste one of them.

Thinking getting rid of Moses or Redmond. Thoughts would be appreciated. Got 1.2m to play with

    Myhill (Boruc)
    Vidic Davies Coleman (Dawson Chester)
    Toure Michu Barkley Moses (Redmond)
    Giroud Sturridge Rooney

Both Moses and Redmond on gametime watch for me, though with Pilkington's injury Remond better off. I am thinking Moses out to Ravel / Whitt. If Ravel then another 1.9 to the kitty to upgrade to big hitter mid say Arsenal / Spurs / Man City ??

Yeah but I would have Vorm this week and he will surely outscore Boruc this week, and Clyne would be my Southampton cover...I m first time in this situation in my 3 years playing this game, having 2 transfer and dont have a clue what to do with them 🙂

Hiya lads, I'm back on the site after the two week break, needed a break myself, left my team and it looks like this:

    Mignolet
    Vidic Coleman Clyne
    Yaya Ozil Michu Barkley
    Suarez Lukaku Giroud

    Lewis Yanga Redmond Chester

    Thoughts?

Does anyone know why RVP's value has only dropped by 0.1% when other players values have been far more volatile? His ownership was in the mid 40s and has now dropped down below 30% yet his value has been steady only dropping to 13.9 from 14.0. Basically, I now want to bring him in and was hoping to get some extra value..

RvP Has ownership of about 30% and only 61,000 transfers out this week. Looks like it will take another 40,000 transfers out for a drop.
