Emerging from the bench in Gameweek 5 to grab Everton’s winner at West Ham, Romelu Lukaku signalled his intentions to nail down a starting berth on Merseyside. Deemed surplus to requirement by parent club Chelsea for the second consecutive season, the big Belgian’s season-long loan deal is already looking a canny piece of business by Roberto Martinez after he racked up four goals in his first three appearances.

Having dropped down to 7.4 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, Lukaku’s haul of 29 points across his trio of fixtures for the Toffees has seen him recently return to his original price of 8.0. With a double for Belgium against Croatia last Friday ensuring he remains at the forefront of our Fantasy thinking, Lukaku is already the fourth most popular forward in the game with an ownership of 22% – highlighting the remarkable turnaround in his appeal as Fantasy managers jump on the bandwagon ahead of Saturday’s game with Hull.

So often utilised as a sub under Steve Clarke at West Brom last year, his prospects of starts were handed a significant boost after Martinez declared during the current international break:

“Romelu can be as good as he wants to be. He will get the opportunity here. He will have the time to experiment things and try things. Remember that he hasn’t played many 90 minutes in his career and it is important he does play 90 minutes for us because that allows his game to go into full flow. That is the way he is as a player. How many games did he play 90 minutes at West Brom? He was involved in 35 games – how many did he play in [from the start]? Seven. So it is like seeing a young man who has now become a proper man with an important role and that’s what we want him to have here. This is the first time in his career that he is going to take that role so everything is in his hands.”

With this in mind, in this latest article for members, we take a look at the statistics in order to ascertain whether Lukaku’s role within the Everton set-up differs from what he offered up at the Hawthorns in the previous campaign:

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

This Roy hodges on thing is totally typical of England press .. Already picking holes trying to crumble us... The joke is a joke that compliments the main subject .. If it was referring to Gerard or any white/ Asian (don't think monkey is a term used to degrade them?) then it would have had nothing said... The only offence it could have caused is to players like Rooney we'll beck and Sturbridge in the sense that they were having great games...

It actually shows how small minded people are when these things cause offence.. The story is one of praise and if NASA we're sending emus or foking kuala bears up to space, would have had the exact same meaning.. jeeeesus... I hate our press you know....

Didn't mean anything by it but roy but roy knows the score with how sensitive people are with racism and any little thing will cause problems. He knows the situation and bringing up monkey stories and telling them to a black player was a bit idiotic on his part.

He told a story of nasa sending monkeys into space and the humans getting jealous .. So they sent the human and monkey together.. Then nasa kept saying "monkey press this" monkey do that .. E.t.c... Then the human gets angry and says "what can I do".... NASA say in 15 mins , feed the monkey

Meaning keep giving the ball to andros.. Like I said, any other animal then fine.. If I was was a or Danny, I would have thought "why ain't I the monkey... I am playing well too"

    Falling Stars

First the blurb…Falling stars is a fictitious squad/team consisting of players below their opening game week values and collectively on or less than the original 100 mill budget, some for immediate start and some for the watchlist but all an antidote to the knee jerk.

As per last weeks post my intention during the international break was to put two teams together..one an RVP team which looked to get two big hitters in midfield, and another team made up of an entirely different crop of falling stars..as a reminder, last weeks RVP team

    DDG (5.9) xxxx (4.0)

    Johnson (5.8) Koscielny (5.3) Williams (4.9b2) Clyne (4.4) Rosenior (3.9b1)

    Walcott (9.2b3) Hazard (9.0) Sessegnon (6.7) Hernandez (5.9) Morrison (4.4)

    RVP (13.9C) Benteke (8.8) Lukaku (7.9)

Current value 100.0 mill saving 2.5 mill on opening GW values (prices correct as of 10/10)

With Walcott still two weeks away and Williams ruled out I’ve changed the bench order to….Rosenior Williams Walcott…and as the team was about investigating the options now on offer for an RVP team I have moved the C from Lukaku > RVP…good squad/team.

With plenty of injuries and rotation risks about, and with the accompanying chatter on the boards, I thought it appropriate to include a few of those risky picks in my second team over the international break (non RVP team)…just to see what might have been had we been brave enough…and one or two we may have lost patience with.

Non RVP team (arrows indicate travel of sales)

    Cech(6.4v) xxxx(4.0)

    Cole (6.4vb2) Evra (6.4v) Demichelis (5.9=b1) Amat (4.6^) Gibbs (5.4^)

    Giaccherini (6.7v) Schurrle(7.3^) Cabaye(6.2v) Januzaj(4.8^) Santi Cazorla(9.6vb3)

    Negredo (9.3^C) Soldado(9.3v) Bony(7.5v)

Current value 99.8 saving 3.7 mill on opening GW values (prices correct 17/10)

    Sheesh..fingers crossed.

    Defence…Chelsea, tick…United, tick…Swansea, tick…Arsenal, tick..enough said

Mids…Gone for Schurrle as I’m thinking his exploits over the international break makes him an easy pick for Mourinho and the ROTATION word for Oscar, we’ll see (underrated). Gonna be hard to deny the Old Trafford faithful a viewing of Januzaj..or is it ? Again we’ll see..(speculative) Gus Poyet is the new broom and maybe the tide will turn at Sunderland, if only a little, could just as easily have gone for Johnson.(the only way is up…or down) Once again Newcastle are riding high for underlying attacking stats by team. Making Cabaye an easy pick regardless of price (steady).

Forwards…Bang in form Negredo in the most attacking team in the prem…who cares if he only plays 60 mins sometimes (great pick). Gotta be last chance saloon for Soldado..if he’s even picked (Risky)…With five goals in eight games Bony is doing his best to fool us, or is he following Torres by scoring in anything but the league, either way he’s high on my watch list at 7,5 (promising).

    Bench…xxxx….Demichelis…Cole…Santi

Two decent squads littered with some flair and iffy picks but short tem and long term would they pay off ?..With the exception of Lukaku none of the players required an early transfer and are in some cases well within the opening GW values…Good enough?..we’ll see at the weekend.

    RVP v Non RVP…who wins ?

Hope you liked this weeks picks and keep watching the fallers.

Question for the Scouts. Are the fixture difficulty rankings adjusted throughout the season as you see more evidence to suggest initial rankings might have been off the mark?

    5.8 to replace Collins.

Shall I just get GJ? I did have every intention of getting in a Swans defender, but 5.7 for GJ could be one of the bargains of the season.

Still, it's not like my defence gets any points when they have good fixtures.

This game gets so frustrating when you are constantly playing catch up. Forced into transfers each week because of injures, seems I can never make the transfers I actually want to, as its just a constant scramble to sort out problems. Who are these people who bring in players "explosion imminent" or whatever. How are they so free!? Curses.

Last season I was blessed and came 2000th in the world...every transfer was a luxury, on several occasions I did a transfer so I didnt lose one of my two FT's...

This season I feel exactly how you feel.... Wildcard gone to fix everything, and still things go wrong.

My transfer last week was bringing Ben Davies in.... he gets an injury and no cleanie.

I'm not convinced he'll go much higher than 10. With people still moving out RVP, Suarez will get more attention I think with the extra budget it frees up. Plus there will be a lot of movement back to Tekkers once he starts scoring again along with however becomes the next bandwagon striker.
