Having published articles on our recommended Defenders and Midfielders for the next four-to-six Gameweeks, we now assess the men up front. Liverpool’s dynamic duo continue to lead the way, though City’s irrepressible Argentine stakes a claim on the back of an eye-catching series of displays and goals.

Liverpool duo Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez hold the top two spots respectively, with the Englishman’s incredible form and slightly cheaper price allowing him to nip ahead of his more explosive colleague. Anfield encounters with West Brom, Fulham and Norwich in the next six, in addition to a trip to Hull, bode well for the Reds duo, whilst visits to league leaders Arsenal and Merseyside rivals Everton should hold no fear, given their respective lack of resilience. Fantasy managers opting to go without either face further agonising weeks in the next month.

Sergio Aguero surges up our rankings to third place. The Argentine seems to have finally found his form under Manuel Pellegrini and with back-to-back braces in all competitions over the last few days, he looks irresistible right now and surely immune to rotation. A flourishing partnership with fit-again David Silva, allied with Pellegrini’s keenness to go on the offensive, means Aguero was the most transferred-in forward this Gameweek – he squares off against an uncharacteristically vulnerable Chelsea defence before embarking on a run that includes Norwich and Sunderland in the next three.

Olivier Giroud drops down to fourth, having featured heavily for both club and country since the start of the season. While his form is undeniable – two assists in the league last time out and a midweek goal against Dortmund – the Frenchman has publicly declared his need for a rest, with next week’s Capital One Cup clash against Chelsea the likely time to draft in Nicklas Bendtner. Given that the Gunners face Liverpool and Manchester United over the upcoming weeks, Giroud looks too essential to skip league duties.

High intensity Romelu Lukaku carried the armband for many last week, with only a 70-minute appearance and two points to show for it. Trips to Villa Park and Crystal Palace should provide the robust frontman plenty of opportunities to improve his fitness and his tally as the Toffees continue to keep pace with their Merseyside rivals.

Wayne Rooney falls outside the top five. A draw against Southampton and a faltering midweek win inspire little confidence in Manchester United assets; however the England star’s price and set-piece threat are enough to warrant continued interest. The Reds could welcome a ramshackle Stoke defence to Old Trafford on Saturday prior to a trip to Fulham, as Rooney looks to maintain a run that has harvested a goal or assist in four of the last five.

Manager Paul Lambert may be treating Christian Benteke with care following his return from injury, but there’s no denying the midlands outfit have missed their powerful front man. With one of the tastiest fixture lists on offer, owners of the big Belgian will no doubt be salivating at the prospect of home clashes against Everton and Cardiff, along with a trip to hit-and-miss West Ham in the next three weeks. Subject to mass sales following his injury, an 8.8 price looks all the more appealing.

Loic Remy remains on our radars ahead of a promising derby against strugglers Sunderland. Offering a consistency unrivalled by fellow Geordie forwards and an attractive price for those seeking to invest elsewhere, the Frenchman may well be worth holding onto for another week. With Chelsea visiting St James’ Park before a tricky to White Hart Lane in the weeks after, the case is hardly clear cut, though.

Last season’s Golden Boot winner Robin Van Persie drops down the pecking order amid concerns over form and fitness. Missing out on Champions League duties in midweek due to toe and groin problems, it’s clear that David Moyes is desperate to protect the talismanic Dutchman at every opportunity – subsequently, it becomes increasingly difficult to justify a 13.9 outlay for a forward that may well not start. After scoring from open play for the first time since Gameweek 1 last weekend, the United frontman has done just about enough to earn a place on this week’s Watchlist. With the premium assets in midfield performing so well and with Aguero to add to the growing list of high-performing forwards, Van Persie’s days in the top ten may well be numbered.

With a kind schedule (and spot-kick duties, as we discovered last time out) boosting his appeal, Wilfried Bony Bony rounds off the list. Yet to really hit form this year, the summer signing has the perfect platform to cement a place in Michael Laudrup’s side as Swansea face West Ham, Cardiff and Stoke in succession. However, with Europa League fixtures and the versatile Michu able to play up front, the Eredivisie import may be a gamble too far for our crowded forward lines.

    This is my current backline:

    JT, GJ, Vidic, Gabbidon, Whittaker.

Given Vidic's "knock" and Moyes' lack of an update, should I just take a hit and get Evra or do we think that Vidic will be right this weekend??

Leafing around the tables a bit it looks like the worst defences are Fulham, Cardiff, Norwich, Newcastle, Sunderland and Hull from worst to best.

Playing Southampton (Lallana), Norwich (Snodgrass), Cardiff (Whitts), Sunderland (Sess?), Newcastle (Barfa, Cabaye) and Spurs (Siggy, Townsend, Soldado)...

    Mignolet
    Clyne Turner Baines (Nasty Wilson)
    Eriksen Barkley Michu Ozil (Morrison)
    Rooney Giroud Sturridge

Have 2 FTs and nothing in the bank.

    a) Baines > GJ
    b) Nasty & Wilson > GJ & Olsson

Don't particularly want to lose Baines but would free up funds to bring in Hazard & Kun for Rooney & Eriksen next week... not sure where I'll find the funds otherwise

Baines has that effect. Sits there gathering 2 pts eating up funds and tempting downgrade then as soon as you do it he scores twice, keeps a cleanie and you want him back in again. I'm avoiding altogether this year. Good luck with your decision.

Is it madness to captain Michu when I have Rooney, Ozil, Lukaku & Suarez…
.. Who would you stick the armband on, everyone above me in my ML has Suarez & Ozil…?
Not sure why but WBA have stayed relatively tight all season, have lost complete faith in United & don't think the Palace game will be as straightforward for my beloved Gunners as people are saying…

Townsend fine short term and in the form of his life. He lacks the quality of end product both with crosses and shots which will hold him back but he takes a lot of shots to compensate. If you get him in be prepared that you will need to shift him on again as he will lose minutes eventually so I would only do it if you have no other rotation risk punts in your top 8

Been a quiet buildup after my 16 pt hit on Wednesday night. Would have loved to hold Rooney for one more week but am hopeful that I've figured out midfield a bit in that stocking up on the 9m+ guys is once again the way to go. Gives me flexibility and stops me from looking at so many disappointing potential substitutes in the 7-8m range for another 4 pt hit each week.

          nah.

think Barkley will get occasional rest.

major headache for Martinez is I think he wants to fit Kone into the starting lineup sometimes.

Barkley & Lukaku in the middle are Martinez's bread and butter though. They link up well and Barkley is doing loads for the team.

    Migs
    Toure/Walker/Fonte
    Toure/Ramsey/Michu/Oscar
    Giroud/Suarez/Lukaku

I am thinking Toure/Oscar>Lallana and Lukaku upgrade to Rooney/Sturridge (or ready to bring in Kun next week).

Will Oscar or YaYa do anything this week?

Should I bench Kolo and play him?

Had been going 4-3-3 this week... would be my first 4-3-3 in 5 years

Unless Liverpool are going to magically gonna fix their defence tomorrow they are on course to concede. I think you might as well.

          Got the boxset! 😀

In the end, I wasn't as comfortable getting Januzaj. He's young and new so doubt he'll be starting every game, he'll be eased in. Especially as he has Nani, Valencia and Kagawa lurking, they are sure to get games.

          Better not bite me.

Yeah same, it was making me uneasy that Welbz and Kagawa plus Nani could all play on the left. Not a recipe for constant starts.

I see. I'm 60% getting Amalfitano atm. Lallana facing those 2 terrible defences at home is making me think again.

Yeah. Both currently have insane goal involvement (66%) though I fancy Amalfitano's shot stats and more passes received makes him more likely to sustain it.

            AMALFITANO FIVE

If he does something in the Liverpool game we have a case of massive valour and smugness on our hands.

Oh yes I do. Dropped Moses for him a few weeks back actually.

Now contemplating if I want to start him against Liverpool. Would mean benching Kolo, which is something I should have done every week for the last 6 weeks

so... if I change out Kolo for Amalfitano in my starting lineup, the insanity becomes

      Boruc (Cech)

      Vertonghen Shaw MTurner (Kolo) (Coleman)

      Ozil Michu Ramsey Amalfitano (Barkley)

      Suarez Giroud Lukaku

      Is this sane?

A from those but I don't think either meg redo or schurrle should be in your team so either find away to get hazard and aguero through trading down elsewhere or get a better affordable option than schurrle to go with aguero
