Heavy-hitting forwards delivered handsomely in Gameweek 9 and have come under considerable scrutiny as Fantasy managers look to freshen up their front lines. We also look at the oldest question in Fantasy Football history and catch up on all the action from our community leagues.

Hottest Topics

Reckoner – Early Trees Down has been pondering whether Wayne Rooney is worth his price tag. For that price he wants the prospect of braces and hat-tricks every now and again, but his research shows the Manchester United forward wanting. Read his analysis here to find out which players are the most likely to garner monster gameweek scores.

Sergio Aguero is another heavy-hitting forward attracting attention this week. Agbonlahorse warns that the Argentine forward may find himself substituted off the pitch earlier than many of his new owners anticipate when Manchester City host Norwich at the weekend, though. With a key Champions League match to play just days later, his analysis shows that Aguero is often found riding the pine in domestic matches before crunch European games.

Ahead of last weekend’s games Smarty Pants spent some time delving into the top 1000 in the Fantasy Premier League game. His research shows that among the most transferred out players inthis elite group were  Manchester City’s Pablo Zabaleta and Yaya Toure as well as Everton’s Ross Barkley.

With so many bargains in midfield and Romelu Lukaku also delivering up front does team value really matter as much this season? Among those to answer this question posed by Triggerlips were Zepinho who describes chasing transfer value this season with points hits as “folly.”

JohnDavies asked which so-called Comeback Kings among the Premier League’s injury list would tempt the community once they regain fitness. Fred Quimby has his eye on Philippe Coutinho, while Quish_ is ready and waiting to draft in Theo Walcott when he returns.

Finally one of the oldest questions in Fantasy Football popped up again courtesy of Syn3rgy. Just how much is success down to skill and how much is governed by luck?

Community Leagues

In HeelsOverHead’s Worst To First – 2 Million+ Club, for teams with an overall rank below 2 million in the first five Gameweeks, there are now seven teams in the top 500,000. YOLO Toure leads their long march to the top with an overall rank of 156,282.

TorresMagic’s Early Bird League has concluded with LawnDart and Stephen Woods both failing to make the cut. They get the title of joint runners up. His Last Man Standing competition lost 44 managers this week, leaving 660 in a week where the safety score was 54. There are also five more competitions available to enter. Full details can be found here.

In Thomass and Peppie&Felix’s Friends Life competition Beric, Daniel and Al Pacino are the league leaders. All three have now qualified for the next round, as have Thomass, TW and Koing Luther.

Those topping InTommyWe Trust’s All Things leagues are La Roja, Chilin Dude, LawnDart, Crouch Potato, Binij and Col Nil Satis. The first round draw for his All Things 50 Quid cup competition has also been made.

The It’s A Long And Winding Road competition continues at a canter with Beric topping the main league as well as one of its seven H2H leagues. The other H2H league leaders are Evs, Gaz Downright, IAmSuarez, Super-Hans, Champ and Adam West.

FFS UEFA’s Beach Soccer World Cup tournament’s first game proved disappointing for the Fantasy Football Scout moderator and contributor dominated Ukraine side who were soundly thrashed by Senegoal. The other winners were Spain, Tahiti, El Salvador, Iran, Solomon Islands, Paraguay and Japan. For more about the competition visit our dedicated article here.

Elsewhere in the FFS UEFA competitions their FA Cup tournament is now down to 40 players who will be joined by 24 Conference Premier players this weekend. Special mention goes to Spike and his giant killing Formby team, which is the only remaining 10th tier side in the competition.

Got 1 FT, 0.4 itb with this team:

    GK: Mignolet/Harper
DEF: Terry, Evra, Shaw (Koscielny) (Baker)
MID: Ozil, Michu, Silva, Brady (JWP)
    ATT: Sturridge, Giroud, Lukaku

    1) Looks a no-brainer to take out koscielny. Any suggestions? Swansea def. perhaps?

    2) Should I be very game and play Harper over Mignolet?

    3) Who to (C)? I'm thinking perhaps silva?

Hmmm tbh not really, between silva and michu I think. Truth be told you want arsenal to score as you have both Giroud and ozil so if you play migs and Liverpool keep a Cs you hedge your bets, otherwise take a punt and go for Harper

Personally i'd go harper, Pool def not been keeping the clenies and against the team who's currently top and scoring regularly I can't see it stopping. Think Sunderland will score as well personally, but better CS chance

Silva captain solid to me. Tough one though, as I think hi as well as all 3 of your forwards are options.

If you want to go completely rouge Evra could be fun. but it's still early days and Silva would be my choice.

Only eleven players seen in the training photos this week, so regardless of colour of bib, the Liverpool XI is:

    ---------------------------Ward
    Johnson - Skrtel - Sakho - Agger - Cissoko
    ----------Gerrard - Henderson - Coutinho
    ------------------Suarez - Sturridge

Like I said, no other players seen. To be fair though, he didn't have a bib on (but the keepers never do)!

True, if that's your worry then go for Suarez. Always capable of producing and rarely goes missing. If City are cruising I think Aguero will come off first though.

    TFF dilemma

For background, this is a "limited transfers" game, with 30 for the season so you have to think harder about using them. Also, FA Cup games are included. I have 21 transfers left.

I currently have Eriksen and probably need to get rid now.

    I can either do:

    A. Straight Eriksen > Oscar
    or
    B. Eriksen + Soldado > Ramsey + Aguero

    What do you think?

barkley - could get some points, but means playing three everton

OK, my 9 yr old nephew wants the ball used in the Portugeese championship for XMAS
I asked him what it looks like and he has no clue!
I done a bit of research and it seems they use a white and green Jabulani/Jumbulani style ball.

Any ideas on where I can get it or what I should get?

Is Vidic fit and good to go? any news?
I don't want to waste a transfer getting him out only to see him start in a very good fixture

Not sure. As a Vidic owner i'd say if you have a decent bench, keep.

I have a friend who thinks City are OK and he says he is 100% certain that Pellegrini will never play Agüero again because he is hot for Kun's legs and won't risk injury to their perfect form.

    Please help!

I've had a nosey on the Spurs forum and most are putting Sig in their starting line-up for the Everton game. Any Spurs fan out there - how likely is it he will regain his starting spot?

Do I hold for another week? My worry is I have a poor bench if he doesn't feature - Burner, JWP, Colback.

I have 1 free transfer so would have 7.3 to spend.

    Keep or ship?

    All,
i'm struggling to work out which 2 to start. its from:

    A) Clyne
    B) Brady
    C) Dawson
    D) Ravel Morrison

I have listed them in the order i currently think with Clyne and Brady starting, Dawson 1st sub, Ravel 2nd.

    Any thoughts

    Cheers.

    Who to captain?
Suarez (in great form, guaranteed 90mins, playing against Arsenal)

or Aguero (in great form, not guaranteed 90, playing home to Norwich)

I just can't understand West Ham's clean sheets. I rely on the stat for shots conceded in the box - this has always been a great indicator of clean sheet potential for me, e.g. Saints and Spurs. But West Ham are average to bad in those terms - how are they getting clean sheets?

If he is making that kind of difference he has already added about three clean sheets to their total, as they should have around two based on their stats.

Our back four have been a good unit since Allardyce took over in 2011. A lot of them have played together for a few years including the championship and it shows. Additionally, Winston Reid is a monster of a CB and I wouldn't be surprised to see him poached in a season or two.

As for the actual clean sheets - well they are Allardyce's currency. He constantly tells anyone who will listen that a clean sheet is the first priority and the platform for a win. Therefore the defensive five are rigid and safety first.

Add in Mark Noble who always puts in 100% just in front of the back four and is great at tackling (as well as fouling). It means that teams are often forced to try their luck from outside the area (another percentage play that Allardyce enforces) or to cross it, where Reid or Tomkins/Collins will clean up.

Jussi is in general a good 'keeper, his weakspot imo would be set pieces. He has a habit of falling to his knees once a shot is aiming for the top of the goal.

Finally, the 4-6-0 formation that has been used lately obviously contributes towards clean sheets - with the midfield packed and part of it sitting in from of the back four, teams are again forced to shoot from outside the area or recycle possession.

    Play Brady or Rosenior?
Brady is reportedly a doubt, and I don't want a 10 min cameo from him. (and a 1 pointer)
Or Rosenior? Chances of him getting a cleanie high? (Against Sun)
