Fantasy Football Scout are pleased to announce the eighth instalment of our open-to-all, free-to-enter Cup competition, sponsored by Paddy Power.

This is your chance to join our previous winners – donnellyc, Jonty (no, really), Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleepingmaster, Mch and reigning champion, Wild Rover – in our hall of fame.

Seasoned veterans can click here to submit their entry. For full details of when it starts and the prizes on offer, read on…

What is the Paddy Power Cup?

The Paddy Power Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager highest in the overall standing will progress.

When does it start?

The qualifying round will take place in Gameweek 11 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before Monday November 11 will be entered into the qualifying round. In this first cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1017 (plus 7 previous winners who will earn a bye if entered) with the top scores in Gameweek 11 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 12. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

How do I enter?

Simply fill out the entry form here. You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry. You can also check that you are entered via this list.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published on Tuesday November 12

What is the Gameweek Schedule

Each round of the Paddy Power Cup will be played out over the following schedule:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 11
  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 12
  • Round 2 – 512 teams – Gameweek 13
  • Gameweek 14 – Break
  • Round 3 – 256 teams – Gameweek 15
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 16
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 17
  • Gameweek 18 – Break
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 19
  • Gameweek 20 – Break
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 21
  • Quarter-Final – 8 teams – Gameweek 22
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 23
  • Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 24

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the top scoring manager from each round will win a £25 free bet from Paddy Power on supply of their Paddy Power username.

Cup Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 or over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. You can, of course, enter without being over 18 and without a Paddy Power account but will not be eligible for the free bet prizes.

Do I have to enter if I’m previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed, we will need to record you entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFS username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament. Ideally, you will already have a username with us but this is not essential to enter – you must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles. You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament, should you do so without permission, or should you enter multiple teams or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from the tournament.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

It seems to me the best scores in these weeks are the ones who take a punt and overload on one team and back them for the win, and get lucky with that team winning...

Especially in the last round, I seen a lot of teams with Di Vaio AND Houston defense etc, that attack/defense conflict is bound to lose you points...

I overloaded with LA this week, hopefully that's enough to get my up a few more places...

Never seen the first one... but the second one where he made a good run at a tight angle, and gets away a shot because of his burst of speed, should never go down as a big chance fluffed...

Terrible decision IMO... a victim of his own talents...

Im suprised so many selling Mingolet.

Its not like you can reclaim the lost points. Simply not worth a transfer to change an active keeper. Just asked those who swapped Mingolet to Vorm over the last week.

Im not happy with Mingoles myself , having been dragged away from Boruc Marshall in wildcard to get him in. It been a disaster , but that water under the bridge now. Certainly not going to waste a transfer taking him out

      B

I have no trust in Chelsea mids at the moment. And though I trust as a team they will score, I don't know who will. Hazard does things in bunches, and he just had his bunch. His ankle had issues again in the last match too. Silva, I trust to do what he's supposed to.

I couldn't afford him myself and took my second hit of the week to bring Januzaj in for Michu. Not really what I wanted to do, but I'm just regrouping my team this week. Bizarrely, I have a plan which I feel I'm following, though I wish this week didn't have to be so nutty.

Optimusblack - I think I may get a Chelsea mid, as hazard and Oscar are nailed on to start weekly. Plus if I'm not wrong hazard has created the most chances from open play, and is very attacking. If Chelsea can get their act together, hazard should be assisting and Oscar scoring. Also city aren't doing aswell in the UCL as Chelsea are, so pellegrini may player silva more in the UCL, whereas Mourinho can afford to rest hazard or oscar or even mata.

    Morning chaps,

So I think Michu has to go, but which of these look best?

    A) Michu -> Hazard
    B) Michu & Giroud -> Silva & Benteke

    Bank 0.4m, 2 free transfers

    Boruc
    Baines, Terry, Clyne, Toure
    Michu, Mirallas, Ramsey
    Suarez, Aguero, Giroud

    Davis, Nolan, Ravel, Ward

PS, I can't believe Nolan is potentially escaping the chop again!

I would have said B but as Gru is not a must sell just do A and see what happens over the week regards other transfers.
Perhaps Nolan can be traded later in week for Januzaj? Will free funds for Gru > Roo.

Yeah, I don't massively want to sell Giroud, but I much prefer Silva over Hazard/Oscar as Michu's replacement (who I think now has to go - no form and injured).

Perhaps a Nolan downgrade (Sess/Amalf/Snod all have good stats and rotate well with Ravel) is a better bet than losing Giroud if I want Silva over Hazard?

Yeah, he could be a great pick. I'd be a little worried about selection after Mourinho's comments post game - basically said everyone was poor and he made 11 mistakes. The likes of Willian, Schurrle, De Bruyne, Mata, Oscar and Hazard capable of playing in the trio, I wouldn't be surprised if there were a change or two from last week.

Also, WBA, WHU and SOT are the next 3 for Chelsea - all been superb in defence so far so I'm not sure there will be loads of goals for CHE....

Barkley (at Crystal Palace) or Michael Turner (home to West Ham)

this is my big lineup decision that will bug me all week

I think Turner is the right choice, which also gives me a fabulous week of doing the 5-2-3

Barkley imo. Palace have looked awful so far and look capable of conceding 3+ every week.

Norwich just got battered so I wouldn't be confident of a shutout, even if at home.

Benching Barkley unless there is more news to suggest he will start for sure.

        1) West Brom, West Ham and Southampton have been 3 of the best defences so far this season. Sunderland have been the worst.

        2) City have been the best attack and will be flying after that 7-0 romp.

Based on this I prefer Silva over Hazard (am choosing between the 2 myself).

I know, his form is crazy, but away at United is by far the toughest fixture.

The RMT tool has him in 5th place of those 5... 😯

Ramsey has broken the RMT tool this season. Must play option due to 70% or more of teams higher than you with him. In 86% of teams in the top 1K.
