Last week’s picks delivered a couple of clean sheets at the back, though Philippe Coutinho’s bench role at the Emirates and Fernando Torres’ blank away to Newcastle meant we failed to bring home attacking returns.

This week, with both Luis Suarez and Sergio Aguero looking strong options in attack, we scour the PlayON price list and look for ways of saving budget for those intent on splashing the cash up front.

If you’re new to PlayON, read this season’s introduction article for more information. If you’re already a seasoned PlayON player, read on for our selection of this week’s targets…

Gameweek 11 Picks

Goalkeeper – Gerhard Tremmel
The German is set for a rare first-team outing due to Michel Vorm’s one-match suspension for Swansea’s home clash with Stoke this Sunday. Tremmel will set you back a mere 6.4m in this week’s PlayON player price list and offers a cut-price route into a defence that has conceded a single goal in the last three league matches. For those who decide to look elsewhere, City’s new number one Costel Pantilimon remains relatively cheap – he comes in at 7.5m ahead of the trip to out-of-sorts Sunderland and has chalked up two clean sheets in his last three appearances in all competitions.

Defender – James Collins
Back in contention after recovering from a hamstring injury, the Hammers centre-half is set to replace the stricken Winston Reid for Saturday’s visit to Norwich. Sam Allardyce’s side have conceded just a single goal on the road all season and with the Canaries expected to supply plenty of crosses into the visitors’ box, Collins’ clearances will benefit from the PlayON scoring matrix. Given that the home side have scored three times in the last seven Gameweeks, a clean sheet looks on the card for Collins, who looks a snip at 7.6m. Chelsea’s home game with West Brom looks enticing for Gary Cahill (8.1m) if he continues ahead of David Luiz, having replaced the Brazilian in the midweek Champions League win over Schalke, while Glen Johnson, at just 8.4m, is set to host Fulham at Anfield and has recovered from the illness that forced him out of last week’s trip to Arsenal.

Midfielder – Steven Pienaar
If we hadn’t opted for Philippe Coutinho last time around, he’d be this week’s midfield headline act. The Brazilian is available for a budget-friendly 7.0m and is poised for his first start since recovering from a shoulder injury at home to Fulham tomorrow. Instead, we look to the blue half of Merseyside for inspiration. Pienaar is priced at 8.5m for Everton’s trip to basement-dwellers Crystal Palace – the Eagles have yet to produce a single clean sheet all season and the South African has already found the net since his return from injury in mid-October. Tottenham’s Aaron Lennon is another cheap option on the flank. Priced at just 6.9m, he looks set for another start at home to Newcastle on Sunday after being rested from European duties in midweek.

Forward – Samuel Eto’o
Having bagged a brace in the midweek Champions League win over Schalke, the Chelsea forward welcomes West Brom to Stamford Bridge in fine form. With Fernando Torres sidelined due to a muscle injury, Eto’o, available for 10.3m, is set to retain the lone forward role against a Baggies side which shipped four to Liverpool on their previous road trip. Villa’s Christian Benteke comes in at 9.9m and is desperate to end his three-game drought at home to Cardiff tomorrow – both players look strong options for those unable to find the budget to bring in one, or both, of Suarez (12.1m) and Aguero (12.0m) for games against Fulham and Sunderland respectively.

How To Play

PlayON is weekly Fantasy football so you can dip in and out of playing throughout the season. Once your starting XI is built (you can keep changing your team right up to 2 hours before the first kick-off – 13.00 on Sat afternoon), you can compete for cash. Entering a multiplayer game for a set stake, you’ll have a chance of winning your share of the pot should you finish high enough in the rankings.

Similarly, you can challenge other players to one-on-one games, selecting the amount at stake. The likes of Robbie Fowler, Les Ferdinand and OptaJoe are all playing the game and are there to be challenged for free or for £1. The Fantasy Football Scout team is also available to be challenged and has a 57% win rate to this point.

The Fantasy Football Scout Game

We’ve also got a £2 multiplayer game, dedicated to our community, which is now open and the prize pot is building.

Challenge Your Mates

You can also set up your own multiplayer games with your mates to play for free bragging rights or for cash. Create your own game at www.playon.co.uk.

Finally, a reminder that we have published a strategy guide, offering some tips for getting the most from your PlayON lineup, right here.

You have to be over 18 to enter cash games at PlayON. If you do wager some cash, please remember to gamble responsibly. PlayON is licensed and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission.

Hi Killian, regarding the change you made moving back the deadline for finalising your team so people can't see the line ups for games, are you considering changing the deadline back? Now that you've had a couple of weeks to see how it goes what has the feedback been like?

        Hi Anonymous,
The deadline for changing your team is going to stay at 2 hours before the first kick-off. However over the next few months we are introducing two additional pieces of functionality - 1) multiple teams - you will be able to pick 3 teams each week rather than only 1 and 2) live games - you will be able to continue entering games after the 2 hour deadline right through the matches over the weekend so you can take people on one-on-one or enter multiplayer games after being able to see other people's teams.
Changing the deadline to 2 hours before the first kick-off was necessary as we have people from 70 different countries around the world playing games on PlayON and we couldn't have some people seeing the first teamsheets while others were sleeping. With multiple teams and in play games being introduced, this will add to the real time aspect of the game, while keeping it fair for all.

I don't know his name so haven't been able to check if he played but if he did and if he beat all the Ambassadors, £10 free credit is his.

Given your eagerness, here's a challenge for you:
If you have an 80% win rate across all your one-on-one games at the end of the season, I'll give you £50 free credit. You have to play each of our Ambassadors each week though.

        Hi D1sable,
Nice work on being over 80% win rate.
For the moment I'm going to keep it to one offer per week but I'll think up of something interesting for you over the next week!
We are introducing multiple teams over the coming months which should mean that if one of your teams has a player not playing, you have other teams that have 11 starters. Before we launched PlayON we did research on whether we should have subs or not. While subs do help when you have a player that doesn't start, the feedback we got was that people load their starting 11 with their best players and only use their bench as fillers. We also want to keep the game simple for casual users - 11 players for 100m is easy for everyone to understand. Lots of people win each week on PlayON with only 10, or even 9, players scoring though so even if a player doesn't start, it doesn't mean you won't win.
        Thanks for the feedback

I don't think I'd WC without Ramsey, even if you need to "make up ground". I think Hazard is a good pick and that he'll start, fixtures are amazing and he usually does well with good fixtures.

Cabaye does not tempt me at all since he's sitting at 4 YCs. I'd either find the money to do Cabaye -> Ramsey or downgrade Silva to Ramsey if Silva is confirmed out (should be pressie today).

Interesting, Silva and Cabaye were my first picks. I think I'd ditch Ozil if I we're to get Ramsey. I want Hazard for now, it's an easy switch to Theo if he fails

Silva is a great option, but if he's not going to play this weekend why get him? Like I said, see what happens in the press conference. If he's fit, agreed, don't touch him.

Cabaye has the stats and fixtures, but 4 YCs is a bit of a turn-off.

From January. He's too good to be a bench player for the whole season. And Townsend/Lennon/Sigurdsson aren't good enough to keep him out much longer. AVB will surely recognise how poor their goals record has been so far and address that. They don't get top 4 without scoring more goals. AVB generally lets players settle first before introducing them into the 1st team. Took a while for Lloris to start week in week out. Could be the same situation for Lamela. I certainly wouldn't be writing him off for this season

Think going back to 4-2-3-1/4-4-2 might be negative for the strikers, we'll see. All hinges on whether they're expected to track back more, they weren't in the 3-5-2. Does make me consider Aguero (C) over Suarez (C) a bit more now.

Michu -> Ramsey, feels so lame.

Should I play safe or go for one of Hazard/Coutinho/Nasri?

He played yesterday. Was culpable for the goal. Wouldn't be surprised to see Naylor retain his place this weekend

My midfield is a mess, what would you do with this?

Need to start 3 of these and have free transfer

    Silva - Brady - Januzaj - Barkley - Oscar

Should get some info on Silva today, if he still looks like a risk then Oscar, Barkley and Januzaj to start. Brady won't start
