With our Fantasy plans placed on hold by yet another international break, the community have had plenty time to take stock and assess the lay of the land. This week, some of the most pivotal discussions have revolved around key transfers and captain choices for Gameweek 12 and beyond.

Our Sunday evening regular catches up with the latest from our community leagues and celebrates a post which, thanks to a geographical oversight, gave us one of the all-time Fantasy Football Scout classic comment threads.

The Hottest Topics

The 3rd Turd has been at his abacus again to analyse the price risers and fallers tables. His excellent set of posts shows that Southampton are the most inflationary team, though his detective work has found there’s a surprise side losing value at the other end of the scale.

The temptation to invest heavily in the likes of Luis Suarez and Eden Hazard after their excellent Gameweek 11 scores is huge but FBA, however, urges caution. He looks at the performance of each Gameweek’s top scoring player in their following fixture to ascertain just how many have been able to deliver consistently – his investigation proved to be sobering reading.

Accounting on Chris has also been looking ahead to Gameweek 12 and specifically the best captain options. Those to come under his gaze include Hazard, Stephane Sessegnon, Sergio Aguero and Suarez.

Casting an eye beyond next week, we asked how the community was planning to tackle the eight games within a month over the festive period. Jesus Navas – Our Lord believes that even with the games coming thick and fast, Aguero, Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie will be spared the threat of rotation. Forca, meanwhile, lamented how last year’s hectic Christmas schedule ‘killed his season.’

The community were also offered a chance to take part in the next few Scoutcasts, with Granville and Mark looking for members to submit their questions for discussion. Among those to answer Granville’s call were King Nil Miss who wants to know why midfielders are misfiring so much this season. Chancing Punt wants the Scoutcast pair to ponder whether centre backs will outscore full backs this season.

Investing in the most attacking sides is a no-brainer, according to The Sarjeant, who this week has been looking at the most attacking sides and their key players. Interestingly he has also broken down the spread of goals by position and has found that, while forwards are dominating scoring at United and Liverpool, the goals are being shared among midfielders down at City.

Finally, The Missing Link entered the Fantasy Football Scout community posting hall of infamy this week with what we have affectionately entitled the most spectacular post fail ever. His comparison of Eric Lamela’s Premier League performances alongside some “fellow Ligue 1 imports” hinged on the Tottenham midfielder’s former club Roma being in France – unfortunately for the Missing Link, Rome remains in Italy. If the community round up was minded to hand out prizes, an atlas would surely be winging its way to The Missing Link, who took the ridicule that ensued in good humour to create our most up-voted post yet.

Community Leagues

The FFS UEFA Beach Soccer World Cup group stages have come to an end with Gameweek 12 heralding the start of the knock out stages. Those teams, comprising of FFS community managers battling it out in Gameweek 12’s quarter-finals, are USA, Solomon Islands, Iran, Ivory Coast, El Salvador, Spain, Paraguay and Brazil.

In Thomass and Peppie&Felix competition we approach finals day. Thomass, Beric, Daniel and TW advance to the next round with Thomass beating his tournament co-host Peppie&Felix along the way.

Evs, Chilin Dude, RobinHuth, Crouch Potato, Chazza and Koneheads top In Tommy We Trust’s All Things leagues. Meanwhile the third round draw of his cup competition has thrown up an interesting match, with ITWT’s wife up against our resident physio Facer.

same, I don't understand why players are so slow at controlling the ball - it makes trying to score a nice build up goal impossible.

Might as well just keep trying through balls until one of them pays off

I still don't know what upgrade to do with my ft. Any advice

    Mignolet, Boruc
    Baines, Terry, Dawson, Clyne, Burner
    Ozil, Ramsey, Lallana, Siggy, Barkley
    Suarez, Aguero, Remy

Should I use it on my defence - Clyne to a 5.0
Should I use it on my midfield - Siggy to a 7.5

Definitely keep Clyne - you have other options to see you through the next 4/5 tough games.

If you fancied a punt - swap siggy to sess (6.8) or snodgrass (5.9).

I'd just bank the FT this week though.

Cheers Hooperman. Concerned whether Siggy will get gametime. Might take him out. I know Cabaye is on 4yc but I personally prefer him to Sess. But my only concern if I bring him in then I'll have 2 Newcastle.

Do you think Siggy will start?
        Is 2 Newcastle too much?

        (1) Siggy this week - out to Cabaye
        (2) Clyne next week - out to G. Johnson

To be able to afford G. Johnson I have to go Cabaye. Sess is probably the more sensible option though.

I think Clyne -> Santon/Ridgewell or Siggy -> Sess are the best options.

With Eriksen looking injured that improves Siggy's chances of game time, however he has 2 stinkers up next. Personally I'd go for Siggy -> Sess (and start Dawson)

Yes Sess seems the best option. However I want a Liv defender in next week as they have Hull (a), Norwich (h) & West Ham (h) in the next 3 & the only way I can afford G. Johnson is by going with Cabaye. A WBA defender will come into my side from gw15 (McAuley). From gw12-14 they have Aston, New, Man C. From gw15-17 they have Norwich, Cardiff, Hull.

Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool all have great fixures coming up.

However, I personally cannot see any reason to describe whm SOT as tough fixtures.

The West Ham game might be away, but with half of their defence hospitalized this will be a great opportunity for them to strike back after last weeks defeat.

Southampton is a tough one, but should be manageable.

I guess as you're just going for a fun holiday, you can get some very good deals on accommodation food and drinks.

Have a great time, the shows should be spectacular for New Year's eve.

Watch for "Trainee" croupiers on roulette. They won't spin the ball very well.

If their spin remains constant speed they can often spin to the same or opposite sections of the wheel for consecutive spins. A number and four neighbours either side can pay off.
You won't win much but it might just give you an edge for a while.

Arsenal top of the league with their next four games being,

SOUTHAMPTON,cardiff,HULL,EVERTON (Not bad from the top club's point of view I'd have thought.)

Have over one and a half times as many transfers out as in this GW so far. Can you clever chaps tell me why that should be?

This. Their big hitters Özil and Giroud losing form along with the emergence of good budget midfielders and the increasing form of top tier strikers like Aguero, Suarez and Rooney/RVP. Even good fixtures can't help you then, Ramsey is the only one worth keeping, and with Walcott soon to be back as well, there really isn't any reason for holding on to Özil and Giroud for much longer.

West ham have had an easy run since the start of the season except Everton,Spurs and City.

The Dortmund win was also a very good game for Arsenal, showing that they can perform against the top teams as well.

Seems to be more value to be found in other players though, only reason why one would get rid.

    My current defence is
    Baines, Terry, Dawson, Clyne, Burner

Will be playing 3 at the back - Baines, Terry, ???

I think both Spurs & Southampton will concede at least 2 goals. Might go for a punt & play Burner as Man U may struggle away to Cardiff. With Carrick, Jones & maybe RVP out it could be a tough game for mu.

was thinking about it, but then took a (-4) to do Reid/Sturridge to Vlaar/Rooney
going to give Barkley/Lukaku one more chance to redeem themselves in the big match against Liverpool

yeah I just did the Vlaar move to fund Rooney move (and had to do it before the rises)
actually kind of wanted to keep Sturridge since I held out so long, I can see him starting and scoring well with Suarez being rested

I might go Cabaye until gw14 (Nor, WBA, Swan) & then Sess from gw16 (Nor, Car, Hull). WBA has Aston, New & MCI from gw12-14 which are tricky games. I'll be trying to have both Sess & McAuley from gw15.

    GW12
    Mignolet
    Coleman - Terry - Chester
    Barkley - Haz - Sess - Paulinho
    Benteke - Rooney (c) - Suarez

    Boruc - Clyne - Whittingham - Walker

    GW13 = Walker & Paulinho > Vlaar & Walcott -4

I like the Vlaar pick (just did it myself for Reid replacement)
Walcott might be eased back in since he's so fragile, but even then could be valuable as a sub. Maybe wait on the Walcott move or go for Gerrard or Coutinho this week?

    Good morning Gents,

Having had a nightmare start to the season I am concentrating like feck on my PP Cup tie. Here is my rivals team

    Boruc McGregor
    Walker Coleman Johnson Clyne Moxey
    Townsend Yaya Howson Ramsey Brady
    Suárez van Persie Agüero

He has one FT and I am not going to try and second guess his move, however based on the above team who do you think he will bench?

    I am going

McGregor Coleman Clyne Brady but it's a tough one....

Is this assuming Moxey and Howson are subbed?
He might be tempted to bench Walker as he's facing City (H). Although by playing Clyne he doubles on SOT. I suspect Brady will be in his starting line-up as he's supposed to feature this weekend against CRY.

Sorry was away for a bit. Nice season you are having there. I'm looking to get rid of Michu Barkley Dawson. Looking at Sess and the usual other suspects. Think i'm going to watch MOTD and maybe go leftfield with a punt. If Arsene says Theo is fit, he's in.

It's a gamble but might have a huge upside. If he is unfit who will come in and will it be for just a week if Theo comes back in GW13?

I got in Sess and Ravel whilst losing Paulinho and Barkley.

So we reckon the team he will go with will be

      Boruc
      Walker Coleman Johnson
      Townsend Yaya Ramsey Brady
      Suárez RVP Agüero

I know it's like asking how long is a piece of string but what are my chances...?

      Boruc
      Chico Terry (4.1 DF tbc)
      Wally (tbc) Hazard Oscar Januzaj
      Rooney suarez Benteke

      I think they are good..

Watch out for that Aguero rampage too.

Yeah i watched highlights and how he got out. Also watched an interview our Dr Ali Bacher had with him. Not sure when that was recorded. Humble and a gentleman.

I recall reading about him in 1992 when SA went on first post Apartheid tour to India. I thought to myself - "this 18 year old will be killed by Alan Donald".

          I was wrong.

Btw, probably the best ball I've ever seen bowled...at my beloved Newlands

I had goosebumps during his speech. And then he went and touched the pitch and paid his respects. Watery eyed.

Absolute peach that from white lightning. Looking forward to the SA vs. Ind test series next month. We have no one from the old guard remaining. I have very high hopes from Rohit Sharma. I'm a big fan.

Our young bowling line up, test for them too. I think India will do well to avoid a whitewash.

      Yeah but out of choice.

I'm not into all these individual cups. I like the team cups like beach football because there is a social element to them, but as for individual I'm quite happy with the overall ranking and minileagues vs mates.

Hazard vs Walcott as my transfer in this week - who wins?

      Hazard:
PROs - match fit, decent form, on pens (if Lamps off the pitch), no other CHE attacking cover
CONs - will have likely played 2 internationals, small rotation question mark, CHE off form

      Walcott:
PROs - superb stats prior to injury, heaps of creativity behind him, could get played OOP, explosive differential, slightly better fixtures
CONs - questions over fitness (not played for 2 months), would mean triple ARS attack
