With our Fantasy plans placed on hold by yet another international break, the community have had plenty time to take stock and assess the lay of the land. This week, some of the most pivotal discussions have revolved around key transfers and captain choices for Gameweek 12 and beyond.

Our Sunday evening regular catches up with the latest from our community leagues and celebrates a post which, thanks to a geographical oversight, gave us one of the all-time Fantasy Football Scout classic comment threads.

The Hottest Topics

The 3rd Turd has been at his abacus again to analyse the price risers and fallers tables. His excellent set of posts shows that Southampton are the most inflationary team, though his detective work has found there’s a surprise side losing value at the other end of the scale.

The temptation to invest heavily in the likes of Luis Suarez and Eden Hazard after their excellent Gameweek 11 scores is huge but FBA, however, urges caution. He looks at the performance of each Gameweek’s top scoring player in their following fixture to ascertain just how many have been able to deliver consistently – his investigation proved to be sobering reading.

Accounting on Chris has also been looking ahead to Gameweek 12 and specifically the best captain options. Those to come under his gaze include Hazard, Stephane Sessegnon, Sergio Aguero and Suarez.

Casting an eye beyond next week, we asked how the community was planning to tackle the eight games within a month over the festive period. Jesus Navas – Our Lord believes that even with the games coming thick and fast, Aguero, Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie will be spared the threat of rotation. Forca, meanwhile, lamented how last year’s hectic Christmas schedule ā€˜killed his season.’

The community were also offered a chance to take part in the next few Scoutcasts, with Granville and Mark looking for members to submit their questions for discussion. Among those to answer Granville’s call were King Nil Miss who wants to know why midfielders are misfiring so much this season. Chancing Punt wants the Scoutcast pair to ponder whether centre backs will outscore full backs this season.

Investing in the most attacking sides is a no-brainer, according to The Sarjeant, who this week has been looking at the most attacking sides and their key players. Interestingly he has also broken down the spread of goals by position and has found that, while forwards are dominating scoring at United and Liverpool, the goals are being shared among midfielders down at City.

Finally, The Missing Link entered the Fantasy Football Scout community posting hall of infamy this week with what we have affectionately entitled the most spectacular post fail ever. His comparison of Eric Lamela’s Premier League performances alongside some ā€œfellow Ligue 1 importsā€ hinged on the Tottenham midfielder’s former club Roma being in France – unfortunately for the Missing Link, Rome remains in Italy. If the community round up was minded to hand out prizes, an atlas would surely be winging its way to The Missing Link, who took the ridicule that ensued in good humour to create our most up-voted post yet.

Community Leagues

The FFS UEFA Beach Soccer World Cup group stages have come to an end with Gameweek 12 heralding the start of the knock out stages. Those teams, comprising of FFS community managers battling it out in Gameweek 12’s quarter-finals, are USA, Solomon Islands, Iran, Ivory Coast, El Salvador, Spain, Paraguay and Brazil.

In Thomass and Peppie&Felix competition we approach finals day. Thomass, Beric, Daniel and TW advance to the next round with Thomass beating his tournament co-host Peppie&Felix along the way.

Evs, Chilin Dude, RobinHuth, Crouch Potato, Chazza and Koneheads top In Tommy We Trust’s All Things leagues. Meanwhile the third round draw of his cup competition has thrown up an interesting match, with ITWT’s wife up against our resident physio Facer.

          Close call though. My reasoning is that, weirdly, swansea have over the last year or so had a bad home defence and a good away defence. They set up quite defensively away.

          Of course man city can dispatch anyone though, but so can suarez!

    Hazard vs Walcott as my transfer in this week then - who wins?

    Hazard:
    PROs - match fit, decent form, on pens (if Lamps off the pitch), no other CHE attacking cover
    CONs - will have likely played 2 internationals, small rotation question mark, CHE off form

    Walcott:
    PROs - superb stats prior to injury, heaps of creativity behind him, could get played OOP, explosive differential, slightly better fixtures
    CONs - questions over fitness (not played for 2 months), would mean triple ARS attack

      I have the same issue and going for hazard. I will wait until walcott has started and then bring him in. No guarantee how soon that will be.

      Only way that could change is if wenger clearly states he will start v southampton

        I did think of doing that - who for though? I'd be loathed to ditch Mirallas (STO) or Nasri (SWA) next week, and they're the only 2 that could fund it.

        What about:
        GW12: Mirallas -> Hazard
        GW13: Toure -> Olsson (Norwich one) or Baker
        GW14: Nasri -> Walcott

          that could work. I personally don't like it as much but it could work well

          i'd prefer something like

    Advice please gents.

    Start two bench two:

    ravel morrison (CHE)
    Lallana (ars)
    Coleman (LIV)
    Enrique (eve)

    *****Must play at least 1 defender**** (Already benching Shaw)

    Bear in mind Liverpool fans forums expect enrique to start. If he doesn't I'm selling next week.

    I put the bit in stars because last time the advice was to bench both defenders but unfortunately 2-5-3 isn't allowed.

      I'd play Coleman. Chance of an assist I feel atleast but he will most likely concede as will Enrique. Then I'd play Morrison over Lallana. I don't think Southampton will score over there at the Emirates and Lallana is due a blank.

      The perfect outswinger. Beauty.

      We've got a bowler called Shami who nips the ball in quite well. Bowls at 140 odd not like Steyn or Morkel.

      And we've got a medium fast bowler Bhuvaneshwar Kumar who swings the ball both ways.

      Looking forward to their performances in Africa.

          He won't be going to jail as the hearing is to determine whether he has a case to answer. Regardless he will be released on bail. The actual trial will be at a future date. I went Lukaku to Remy & Remy will be my captain. I can see Newcastle scoring 4 & Remy getting at least 2-3 with assists from Cabaye. I'm thinking of bringing Cabaye in this week for free.

    Opening up to the crowd (thanks TW for the input) - which of these routes looks best?

    (A)
    GW12: Mirallas -> Hazard
    GW13: Toure -> a 4.2m or below defender [M Olsson or Baker]
    GW14: Nasri -> Walcott

    (B)
    GW12: Toure -> GJ
    GW13: Nasri -> Walcott
    GW14: Mirallas -> Sess

    Boruc
    Baines, Terry, Ward
    Ramsey, Nasri, Mirallas, Snodgrass
    Suarez, Aguero, Giroud

    Davis, Ravel, Toure, Clyne

        Yeah, I think I'll keep for the next 2 for sure, and then possibly get rid in GW14. Problem is that EVE have great fixtures again from GW16, so I'd either want Baines or Coleman back then. Currently swaying towards keeping (and hoping for attacking returns in GW14/15)

      The problem with these 'if only' scenarios is that you have to presume that you are the only one that gets the luxury of adding points to your score. If all those people ranked higher than you that also didn't captain Aguero or Suarez on those weeks get an extra bunch of points too, you wouldn't jump in rank as high as you calculated.

    Ok, following on from conversations above, what have been your worst mistakes of the season so far? I'm taking about those decisions where you were in two minds and picked the wrong option.

    Mine are:

    1) Changing my cheap midfielder from Barkley to Jedinak (for perceived security of starts) on the Saturday morning of gameweek 1.

    2) Captaining Ozil over Suarez in gameweek 9. I regretted this almost immediately the deadline passed, let alone when the points came in.

    3) Wildcarding gw 3. Never again.

      1) Getting Mign on gw 4 WC/not going with Boruc from pre season
      2)Taking coleman out of my pre season team
      3) Keeping 1.5m in gw one to do Lukaku->Negredo in week 2...Negredo was never nailed on...
      4)Not getting on the ramsey wagon 4 weeks ago.

      2. Getting rid of Studge when i WCed in GW6.

      not getting on the ramsey wagon
      or the yaya one...
      or the barkley one until he was dropped šŸ™ what makes it more frustrating is I was the one bigging him up pre season
      getting dembele ( wtf was i thinking)
      getting lukaku when he was at chelsea
      picking koren iso brady as I thought he was on penalties
      getting brayford ... who the feck is he anyhow
      getting taarabt - arrrghhh
      keeping Soldado for much too long
      keeping eriksen for too long
      getting fecking victor bloody moses
      getting michu arrrghhh.. i'm only in GW6.... this is depressing
      captaining Baines... why do I do it to myself
      getting JT... although hoping this pays off..
      getting tekkers on WC... again hoping this pays off
      always captaining the wrong player... until finally early suraez punt works out

      there is much much more but it is depressing
