Having made a huge two-point dent in Granville’s mini-league lead, it’s time to change strategy. I’ve been complacent for too long, allowing my rival and co-host a weekly insight into my plans, welcoming his nagging little voice into my head to play havoc as I hover over the transfer button. As my phoenix-like ascent prepares for take-off, it’s time to play cagey.

With my transfer plans kept hushed, Granville does his best to use his Derren Brown like powers to have me reveal all. Along the way we assess the week’s transfer activity in “all aboard”, preview the weekend’s fixtures and decide whether any Fantasy manager can possibly do without the Aguero/Suarez captain combo.

Keep your cards close to your chest and listen in via this link or shroud yourself in mystery via the handy player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      Rooney 3 assists, 1 goal and 3 BAPS so 20 points

        so you think man u will score 4 goals against spurs/eve and rooney will be involved with all?
        i see tottenham being a very low scoring game. theyll have a point to prove at home infront of there fans... and Eve are always low scoring,,, unless its a derby.

        i was thinking Negredo 2 goals 1 assist
        rooney 1 assist

        Rooney : NEW, avl, WHM, hul, nor
        Aguero: wba, sot, ARS, ful, LIV, CPL

        With Silva out he scores less, three away from home on citys form. pls ARS and LIV won't roll over like spurs

        Agree Aguero over the long run but do not agree on RVP negatively impacting Rooney in any capacity. Rooney is in the form of his life and RVP will just give him someone who can clinically finish his balls in. Figure out a way to get in both!

          The Rooney 4 yellows is a good point raised. if you're getting next week (as in gwk14) then both city and man u don't have a great fixture...Silly as it sounds but I might want Giroud for that game then wait till 15, Roonpig loves scoring against Newcastle! you must already be praying for that Aguero blank this week, good luck man.

      Arny 5.5 to Wally 9.1 you cannot afford currently with 3 ITB no? Save and work Wally in on this move while freeing up the extra .6 you need to do it elsewhere.

I am in Michigan in the states and will be on the road tomorrow and may not be able to get on-line so I am trying to make my transfer tonight. Either Baines to Terry or Rooney to Suarez. I don't have a great answer for you. I expect rooney to be booked in gwk 14 and banned in 15, although getting rid of injured players with 3 gameweeks in the space of a week seems prudent with rotation threat looming large. I can't give you a straight answer, sorry about that.

        because my transfer next week would be to get Walcott. These are the 2 routes I'm looking at:

        GW13: Baines -> Olsson
        GW14: Snodgrass -> Walcott
        GW15: Nasri & Giroud -> Sess & Rooney [4 pointer]

        or

        GW13: Baines & Snodgrass -> Olsson & Walcott [4 pointer]
        GW14: Save
        GW15: Nasri & Giroud -> Sess & Rooney

          If these were absolutely locked in I would say you spending 4 pts either way so the only difference is whether you get Walcott this week or next and I think Walcott will start so option 2

          But going first option gives you more flexibility in case Walcott breaks down etc and Morrison is a decent option this week home to Fulham so that may edge it

            Yeah, certainly adds more flexibility, although unless he gets injured I definitely want Wally for HUL and Rooney/Sess look great from GW15 onwards.

            If I don't get Wally this week then my bench is dire if any of my 11 don't make it (always possible, eg wouldn't be a massive surprise for Ramsey to get a rest).

          One slight concern with avoiding the hit this week is my bench is pretty dire should any of my 11 not make it - Ward (nor) and Clyne (che). I'm just not convinced in the WHU attack without a striker, whereas the pace of Walcott on the break against a Cardiff side that like to attack at home (and have been quite leaky) could be a good gamble.

      I don't understand the maths here. My general view is that an FT is worth 4 points so the question would be is Walcott better than Ravel? and I would probably say yes he is despite lack of match fitness and limited minutes

      Been going over this all week, as my free was Baines to Gabbidon. That said I am still unsure I made the correct decision. Palace have good fixtures for the next three but I am still so skeptical that they can ever keep clean, and in games they do not, Ward has that very outside chance of returning with an assist while Gabbidon will immediately be rendered to a 2 pointer if they concede. That said, if they do keep clean, Gabbidon will be almost assured to be in the baps. Sorry I didn't answer your question, as I do not have an answer, but just my thinking at the moment.

        At least Pulis was their choice of new manager, if they are going to tighten up defensively they couldn't have picked a better candidate for the job.

          Could not agree more. Really a fine job by Palace recognizing what they need to do to scrap it out this season and avoid relegation. They simply have to play each game to draw and not to win. If they play to win and loosen up they will lose due to lack of quality to mostly all other teams in the prem while if they tighten and play to draw they may squeak out of the bottom three. I am finding myself rooting for Palace more and more with each passing week.

      Personally I would go for Gabbidon due to baps. People (including Watchlist) suggest Ward more nailed on and maybe he is but I've seen no evidence that Gabbidon will be dropped. Is there anyone returning from injury who may threaten?

      The clincher for me is Pulis FBs do not go off overlapping and putting in many crosses, let alone popup in the box for a goal.

      Pulis CBs go up for set pieces looking for goals. It's all about set pieces with Big Tone.

      So CB over FB every time for me.

      Unfortunate you are basically forced to put Ravel on the bench with his precious fixture coming up. Cannot justify starting him over any of your current mids however. Agree with your analysis on your defense - if everything breaks right you could get 10 points from the three lads but likely less than that. Either way, save the free for sure and best of luck!

        I would be tempted to WC that team if you still have it available. If not, your front line is in dire need of repair. Your focus should be on getting in Suarez and then Kun. Dire situation - and just a thought - Evra - 4.0 Wally - Ravel Ivan - Evans Studge - Kun (c) for a -8 then take a -4 next week to bring in Suarez?

        Drastic times..drastic measures..and that..

      Well, Senderos is not a good FF option at all and neither is Lucas. I am not a fan of Townsend either. But I think Suarez or Aguero (or both) are pretty close to essential. So I might downgrade Ivanovic to, say McAuley/Olsson (to rotate with Baker) and upgrade Sturridge to Suarez. Then week by week deal with those other issues.

      I didn't think the team was too bad, scored me 75 last game week, but from the reaction I've got from you guys with experience I might want to have a major re-think!

      I can def' see that I lack any guaranteed points from the front line, and that I have a lot of value tied in my defense.

      I do have my wildcard to still use, but am daunted by the task of selecting my whole team again! My team value is down at 98.5m due to some bad player decisions at the beginning of the season.

      More context is necessary for anyone to provide an informed view. With no context the obvious move would be to Hazard in terms of an expensive mid who will probably end the season in the ~180-200 point area.

      If you are looking to move Ozil out right now it makes little sense to me to use the transfer to downgrade to put that money in the bank and sit on it with a different mid instead of Ozil for this weekends game. Whether or not Ozil blanks or hauls this weekend, you can move him out next week for free and upgrade your squad as a whole. If you just downgraded Ozil right now with 1 FT that would be likely a sideways transfer more or less.

      If you hold off until next week you can down Ozil and upgrade another player to more effect.

      Does this clarify? I'm sorry, sometimes my thoughts and articulation with my messages don't match up :\

        Yes and thanks to all who replied. I should have been clearer- I have 2 ft this week and my midfield is Arnie, Lallana, Ozil, Sess and Brady
        Front 3- LukAku Suarez Rooney.

      Watch out transferring Ozil out someone who ends up being rotated due to heavy number of games.
      Maybe a team not in European action?

    Best option here fellas?

    A) Baines -> Olsson
    B) Baines & Snodgrass -> Olsson & Walcott [4 point hit]
    C) Baines & Snodgrass -> Olsson & Hazard [4 point hit]

    C) means I can't afford Walcott next week so would have to do Nasri -> Coutinho/Michu instead, or just keep Nasri. If going A) then I'd likely take the hit in GW15.

    Boruc
    Terry, Evra, Ward
    Ramsey, Mirallas, Nasri, Ravel
    Aguero, Suarez, Giroud

    Davis, Clyne, Baines*, Snodgrass*

      I would actually save. You won't lose selling value to another Baines drop since you stuck it out today whether or not you brought him in at 7.5 or 7.6 and Ward is a fine option in comparison to Olsson for this weekend. This way you can reassess and do either B or C next week for free.

        Olsson is rumoured to be playing on the wing now with Snoddy and Pilks out for a few weeks so he could do well at home to Palace. I think it makes sense to make a trade this week with 2 injuries - any of my first 11 miss out and I'm relying on Clyne (che) to come in, and if 2 don't make it I can't field 11.

          I do not share your concern with any of your XI being benched this weekend. Your whole lineup looks absolutely nailed to me unless someone picked up a training knock. From my vantage point I think you look pretty set for this gw 😉 but cheers mate. good luck!

            Yeah, I think most should be safe but you never know. Wouldn't be a massive shock to see Wenger rest Ramsey - he said he'd be rotating and Ramsey has played every game so far. 2 from Flamini/Arteta/Wilshere in the double pivot with Santi/Ozil/Wally in the attacking trio....

            Cheers for the input though - rarely take hits, but I am tempted this week! Probably a last minute decision I guess.

    RMT/10 & suggestions to improve

    Mignolet
    Terry, Mert, Skrtel
    Ozil, Ramsey, Cabaye, Barkley
    Aguero (c), Suarez, Remy

    Boruc, Lallana, Clyne, Burner

    Used ft, 3.0 in bank

      Love your team. Maybe consider Remy to Rooney next week and laugh in the face of his possible 5th yellow? You look to be flush with solid options at def and mid rotation for the next coming gws it may make most sense to upgrade Remy.

        Thanks bro. Might save ft next week & do a straight swap Rooney for Remy in gw15 when they play each other. Even though Sou fixtures are crap until gw22 I think Lallana will still score ok in the interim. Might look to upgrade Clyne & play 4-3-3.

        BigGest issues for you:

        - no CHS in midpark
        - only one LIV for nice fix
        - Brady/Sess/JWP
