The festive schedule starts to kick in now as we brace ourselves for the first of six sets of fixtures this month. Gameweek 14 gets underway this evening with Tony Pulis’ first home match in charge of Crystal Palace as Sam Allardyce’s Hammers roll up to Selhurst Park:

The new Eagles manager has a tough task on his hands – his side have scored just once in the last five Gameweeks, courtesy of our “Spot the Differential” pick Barry Bannan, though one goal against in the previous three signifies their recent resilience at the back.

Big Sam’s side roll up on the back of a 3-0 home thrashing of Fulham last weekend, which ultimately led to the dismissal of Martin Jol. Having failed to score in four of their six road trips, though, there is a fear tonight’s game has 0-0 written all over it – a result that would send the viewing public to sleep, perhaps, but one that would be widely accepted around these parts, with many anticipating clean sheet returns.

The team news is now in and sees the home side unchanged from Saturday’s trip to Norwich, with Cameron Jerome up top alongside Marouane Chamakh. West Ham make four alterations from the weekend, with Joey O’Brien, Razvan Rat, Ravel Morrison and Carlton Cole replacing Guy Demel, George McCartney, Matt Jarvis and Modibo Maiga.

As always on Matchdays, we’ve opened up our Dugout Discussion chatroom right up until the final whistle for those looking to get involved in a spot of real-time banter.

To think, he used to look like this. I blame Arsenal for stress induced baldness!!! http://www.africatopsports.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/marouane-chamakh-1.jpg

Even the pictures of him at Arsenal, he was never this bad. There is a pic of him holding the Palace shirt after joining them this year, and it's nowhere near as bad as it is now: http://www.independent.co.uk/incoming/article8758947.ece/ALTERNATES/w620/Marouane-Chamakh.jpg

Yeah, most of the transfers happen shortly after the injury, after that it slows to a trickle and it's harder to reach those fall thresholds, particularly as goalkeepers are low priorities.

West Ham haven't gotten a single point when being behind in a match this season 😯

Scouts were spot on " Bannan’s delivery from a left wing berth could be perfect fodder for the likes of Marouane Chamakh up top at home to West Ham this evening." 🙂

In a couple of weeks I want double Everton defence, but I don't want to go without Pool defence

For this reason, assuming I manage to save the FT this week, it makes more sense to sell Migs and Williams to Howard and Flanagan than it does to sell Williams and Gerrard to Jags and an 8.1 mid.

    Make sense?

Flanagan is worth it but the rest of the pool defence is over priced.I have Johnson from when it looked like a 3-5-2 was on the cards. Since then he's been let down badly by some poor CB's...as has MIgnolet. More chance of a clean sheet with WHAM even though they are losing tonight.

I was just looking at Garth Crooks' team of the week, it never ceases to amaze. He put Kyle Walker in it even though he was at fault for both United goals. For the first one it's very clear and for the second one his idiotic run opens up the entire field for the counter attack. How is this man employed by the BBC 😕

Garth Crooks' formula is "If you score, you're in Team of the Week, no matter how rubbish you played". He's an idiot

True, he had Begovic in it a few weeks ago solely for that goal. Says it all

Chamakh is in 2.5% of teams. That's 77012 teams. Over seventy-seven thousand people have decided to put Marouane Chamakh in their team. Unbelievable.

West Ham are going to get dragged into the relegation dogfight by the looks of things.

They need Carroll back fast. What happened to the solid unit of last season?
