For the majority of Fantasy managers, the valid options for our three-man frontlines have lessened as the season has unfolded. Olivier Giroud and Daniel Sturridge were quick out the blocks but neither were able to maintain consistency and, as Sergio Aguero and the suspension-free Luis Suarez hit their stride, it’s a case of the South American duo plus one other when it comes to our forwards right now:

Suarez and Aguero are far from cheap but, as their prices continue to escalate in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, they’ve delivered time and again and more than justified the premium outlay required. The Liverpool forward has averaged an astonishing 11.4 points per game and, whilst Aguero’s eight points per game leaves him trailing in the Uruguayan’s wake, it’s an average that’s still head and shoulders above Robin van Persie’s 6.9 over 2012/13.

After delivering 241 points in his first year at Old Trafford, the Dutchman’s position as United’s top forward has been undermined by both injury and Wayne Rooney’s rise to form. As van Persie continues to battle toe and groin problems, Rooney has served up a series of consistent displays under his former Everton mentor, David Moyes. So far, he’s racked up eight goals, seven assists and 18 bonus points, drawing blanks in just three of his 13 appearances and averaging 7 points per game – a ratio bettered only by Suarez and Aguero. Furthermore, at 11.1 in FPL, he’s cheaper than both South Americans and, with games against Villa, West Ham, Hull, Norwich and Swansea in the next six, Rooney looks poised for further attacking returns. Indeed, this afternoon’s news that van Persie will be sidelined for a month after sustaining a thigh injury merely strengthens Rooney’s cause.

Over at his former club, though, Fantasy faith in Romelu Lukaku is building. Since arriving at Goodison in Gameweek 5, the big Belgian has bagged eight goals, three assist and 11 bonus points in 11 appearances. Lukaku has also been highly consistent this term and, registering just three blanks, has averaged 6.4 points per game under the guidance of Roberto Martinez – slightly fewer than Rooney but at a significantly cheaper price of 8.5. As Lukaku steels himself for a schedule rated the most appealing of any side in the next six Gameweeks by our season ticker (FUL, swa, SUN, SOT, sto, NOR), the bandwagon is in full effect – over 96,000 FPL managers have already acquired him this week, more than any other player in the game.

With a big decision to be made, then, we take a look at both players’ displays so far this term – for the purpose of our analysis, Lukaku’s stats are taken purely from his time at Everton, with a couple of late second-half sub appearances for parent club Chelsea discounted.

Damn! If only I knew this about RVP! Actually I did not take Rooney because I though RVP will get all the penalty/free kick opportunities now. Look how much Rooney got from these!

I know what you mean though - we make assumptions and have images in our heads of what everyone looks like/acts like in real life which are probably wildly inaccurate most of the time.

Having a slightly more abstract grav probably protects me from this kind of speculation 🙂

Ozil has proved recently that maybe he is worth his price points wise, but I can't help but think that when I actually watch the games he hasn't played that great. The goal he scored last weekend for instance, shouldve been Giroud's goal and Ozil missing for the rest of the game. Quite jammy points imo. I would rather have one of the above and spend the cash elsewhere. You might get the jump on your opponents up at the nosebleed levels if you get Silva.

    Afternoon guys,

Here's the Liverpool bib theory team for this week:

    ------------- Mignolet
    Kelly - Agger - Skrtel - Cissokho
    ---Rossiter/Henderson - Allen
    Sterling --- Coutinho ---- Moses
    ------------- Suarez

Remember, it's just for a bit of fun and is based just on the colour (green) bib they were wearing from the training session. It is not based on my own personal views, nor do I have any inside information on who Brendan will play.

    Phew!

Hasn't the timeframe of all of his injuries been a little coincidental? Ruled out on a weekly basis just before the game?

A few months ago someone suggested his injuries were a cover for a falling out with Moyes over his trusted coach Rene Meulensteen leaving. That no longer sounds implausible.

Surely they'd wait for Suarez in the summer, rather than an ageing RVP?

Is your team worse than mine? Explain how.

    Marshall
    Johnson, Chester, Bardsley (Koscielny, Flanagan)
    Ramsey, Ozil, Whittingham, Shelvey (Sess)
    Rooney, Aguero, Suarez

it's not the worst team in the whole world is it?

I wouldn't play Shelvey over Sessegnon. Europa league exploits.

    Rvp out....sigh :(:(:(

    myhill (boruc)
    vidic olson burner (dawson mert)
    ramsey hazard nasri coutinho (januzaj)
    suarez aguero lukaku

    have 2FT and 0m

A: boruc + vidic >> howard + ward....sorts out gk issue till jan WC, ward n burner rotate
B: boruc + vidic >> marshall + jagielka...marshall has decent fix, will get speroni in gw20..prefer jagielka over howard at the similar price hence this option
C: vidic >> distin and carry over the FT. myhill can keep a cleanie this gw against car so might as well keep for him till gw18 and then get howard

Anything could happen - might be the same formation with Rooney behind Hernandez/Welbeck. I wouldn't be rushing Kagawa in just yet.

He's still not very good at them, and he does like a nice rest up at Christmas. Unfortunately he timed his 5th yellow badly, so expect him to get a red card so he can spend Christmas with his family.

Also, Wednesday's team sheets saw lots of random panic about Terry being benched tomorrow. I think with Cahill out we can now put all of that to bed. Terry in possibly his final week in my team

I'd like a goal, CS and maximum BPs please.
