We’ve reached the Fifth Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup, sponsored by Paddy Power, this weekend, and are on the lookout for a new face to lift the silverware after our two remaining previous winners, Goonerdave and sleepingmaster, were both eliminated:

Pryston North End FC and Albany City were the respective victors and will now take on Team Hayemaker and ec3dm over Gameweek 17. We’re also keeping an eye on Hillbillypete – having knocked out current champion Wild Rover, he continue to remain in with a shout of the silverware and is up against site regular The Sarjeant in the Fifth Round.

Our site moderator, Applebonkers, is also in the hat and is something of an underdog for the weekend, with his opponent BJ sitting just inside the top 5,000. Tony Hibbert’s Love Child is the top-ranked manager in this week’s draw – sitting in 570th overall, he now squares up to Nepalock.

Looking at some of the site regulars, Malcolm Tucker for England manager is up against 11 Men in Flight, Tommy Tynan’s Left Shin Pad will pit his wits against TOMDN, while 2ndMan is up against mickey30101985 for a place in the last 32.

As always, we name-check the highest scoring manager from the previous round. Both Michu at De Gea Bar and Andy Paps achieved this accolade, with 97 points apiece, and will now go head-to-head with Son of Rambo and dino_dem next time around.

The lowest-scoring team to advance to the Fifth Round belongs to Mr T. He’ll be hoping to improve upon a score of 63 points as he prepares to do battle with heco87.

If you want a full update on how the ties played out in the previous round, click here. Otherwise, click here for the Fifth Round details.

Once again, good luck to those still in with a shout.

    Question lads.

I'm starting a H2H with my mate this week, no transfers, no tinkering, just players from Ireland and GB, have to stick with your (c) (v) from now till the end. 150quid in the pot.

Who would you pick as your Captain? I'm currently on Walcott but part of me thinks Rooney is the sensible choice.

    Thoughts?

i wouldn't worry about that. aguero being in the side takes up his goal scoring chances so his numbers naturally be down. negredo ain't no slouch hes quite built for away games it's just city have struggled as a team away possibly because of no silva as a creative force from attacking mid

well then keep rooney why ask the question if you don't want to get rid of anyone ?

i would keep suarez and lukaku because going forward you'll want aguero again i'm guessing so naturally in the mean time negredo will get more rises since he is city striker. maybe if rooney was at city then yes i'll get him but rooney by himself i don't trust as a consistent scorer when paired with rvp he scores well but i don't trust him alone in this man utd side.

            haven't hit confirm yet.

            but..

will be probably getting in Whits for Ravel next week 😯

and might look into Clyne -> Rafa/Evra soon after 😯 😯 (unless I decide to save and work my way back up to Rooney)

The sensible move says Rooney for Aguero but I have this voice that says buy Welbeck instead. I then read an article which said that Moyes is backing Welbeck "to achieve a consistent level of form that will yield goals for the striker on a regular basis." To me it says that Welbeck is nailed on in RVP's position & won't be subject to rotation & will get an extended run in the lone striker role until RVP returns. Thoughts.

If he plays up front with Rooney deep and Hernandez plays in the cup(s), and rvp stays injured i don't think it's a bad idea. But it is a moyes team, i don't expect goals.

He'll be fresh, as will negredo to be fair, but sterling really was good on the weekend and he went on a similar run last season. I think this might be a fulham at home against big team shock result. Maybe.

He did. I won't play him forever, just at the moment while he's dangerous. I also have coutinho who is so anonymous points wise I actually forget he's there who i could drop but I've persisted so long i know if i drop him he'll do something...

I think sterling got injured, or something like that ? Rodgers just freezes out players sometimes, Aspas gone, Moses peripheral. I thought the same happened to sterling, but now it seems he's a starter.
