We’ve reached the Seventh Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup VII, as sponsored by Paddy Power, after 16 more teams were eliminated in the previous batch of matches. As we cast an eye over the weekend’s results and look to the next round, those still in with a shout should note that the upcoming fixtures will be played out over Gameweek 21 – the 10 fixtures on New Year’s Day do not count towards your points hauls:

Site regular Tony Hibberts Love Child squeezed into the last 16 by a one-point margin. Having won his tie 60-59, he now sits in 268th overall up – the highest-ranked manager remaining in the draw – and is up against Tdubb05 for a place in the Quarter-Finals.

Site moderator applebonkers is still in with a shout of snapping up the silverware. A 63 point-haul was enough to see him through last time around and earn him a spot against sim716 when the cup resumes in Gameweek 21.

The 2ndMan deserves a mention here. A tally of 72 points was higher than any other manager over the last round and sees him square up to 11 Men in Flight in the next round. Yes the Sess! racked up 71 points – the second-highest haul of Round 6 – and will now face FPLAaron, who, with an overall position of 464,000, is the rank outsider for the tournament.

Finally, Tal was the lowest-scoring manager to earn a spot in the next round after registering 54 points in Gameweek 19 – he now goes head-to-head with EricCantona_707.

If you want a full update on how the ties played out in the previous round, click here. Otherwise, click here for the Seventh Round details.

As always, we wish good luck to the final 16 as they brace themselves for battle!

Hi everyone, last time of asking before making my changes this week. Thanks for any help! 🙂
    A) Zaba--->Kosc.
    B) Zaba & Silva--->Kosc. & Wally (-4 point hit)
    C) Delph--->Bannan
I have no Arsenal cover by the way. Thanks!

I'm so far behind so I was looking for differentials. Santi or Navas seem to fit better with low ownership and decent upside.

Ok come on then, who is not gonna captain Suarez?? I know he hasn't scored for a couple but there is a possiblility Hull might keep him out.

I honestly believe Walcott vs Cardiff could be a better option, Cardiff are in disarray.

Even Rooney (he will start) at home to Spurs is more than capable of doing better.

    Evening gents.

    Mannone
    Terry Coleman Clyne
    Walcott Hazard Sterling Januzaj
    Rooney Lukaku Suarez

    Wilson Chester Silva 1ft 2.4m

    Mulling over these:

    A) Clyne > Koscielny
    B) Januzaj > Cabaye
    C) Silva > Cazorla

A is probably the most logical, though the punter in me is tempted by the former....thoughts?

Never posted this much in a gameweek before.

    Sir Ches
    Mert, Terry, Coleman, Jags (25%)
    Sterling, Hazard, Wally (v)
    Rooney, Suarez (c), Lukaku
    Subs: Mannone, Januzaj, Mutch, Caulker

Transfers spent. Jags set to drop in price; Gabbidon to rise. Given that Januzaj comes in for Jags non-appearance, then any other missing player and I'm dredging cardiff players vs Arsenal... would you hit out Jags now (set to fall, possibly 0.2 by the game) for a rising player, or just field Januzaj and take the drop? 0.8m banked.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't hesitate to keep him and run with Adnan, but with the Jan wildcard looming, that 0.3 mill (drop 0.2 Jags, rise 0.1-0.2 other) is giving me concerns.

      "ravel", or "have"?

I'd say not worth it either way, tbh. Dzecko's always been strong off the bench and City are rotating a lot this last couple of weeks, he could yet get 20 mins, so better than a hit risk.

    Cardiff:

    Mangerless
    Out of form
    Conceding like mad
    Playing arsenal at home

    Hull:

    On Form
Would have analysed Chelsea/man city games to shut suarez out
Suarez looked very isolated vs chelsea and did not get even get a sniff
Hull have a good defensive record
    Suarez looked exhausted

    Wally(C) Suarez(VC)

Im chasing the game after a difficult season so this aids my choice. Need it to come off. But there is every likelyhood it wont too. :S

They have missed Gerrard and ENrique. Gives them a forward drive. BUt i wont be captaining suarez. Hull would have analysed how they got caught against Manu and they wont be that stupid to try that at anfield

Keep changing my mind on it. But then I put it back on Suarez because if he goes on one of his goal scoring benders it will be an absolute catastrophe. Think how hungry he must be for goals right now as well.

There wont be any benders if he gets no service. I knew Mou would shut Suarez out completely hence i decided to captain Rooney. Mou is a genius with that stuff. He doesnt let him defenders stick to suarez but rather makes them sprint up and play the ball as suarez is about to take his first touch. Liverpool will have no forward drive with Gerrard, allen missing.

Of course i could be wrong. But im just analyzing the current facts.

Cardiff are pants and are out of form as of late with no manager and there is every chance they could be destroyed

Hull aren't Chelsea though. Although granted, they have looked pretty good. Cardiff are pretty pants but Walcott can sometimes just go missing in games, not guaranteed that the goals Arsenal score will come from him, whereas if Pool score it will almost definitely involve Suarez. I think I will go Suarez unless I make drunk decision tomorrow night.

Get Arsenal defensive cover, ideally swapped in for Brown. A lot are playing Kos, Mert, Ches or Gibbs - you're left exposed without it. Bench JWP. Next week, pick up Marshall as backup keeper.

Lot of love for Sterling at the moment.

Isn't Januzaj a better pick if you think he will start, which he should? So much better at everything except running really fast, and also at home and against a team that has conceded more goals than Hull this far.

Valencia's back, so likely to play RW.

Can easily see Valencia and Young lining up on the flanks, depressingly enough. Big game so Moyes will want workhorses.

Anyone see my logic in this? And give me the confidence to confirm my team then log out!

See I look at it this way...

Hull beat liverpool 3-1, Hull are on form, Hull have a great defence and are set up really nicely, just won 6-0 and confidence is high! Suarez has drawn 2 blanks in a row, so slightly (ever so slightly) out of form. (Cant believe I just said that)

Cardiff lost 0-3 to Arsenal, Cardiff are out of form, haven't been looking good recently, have no manager at the moment, no leader at the club, lots of distraction behind the scenes, therefore possibly a low morale around the club??

Therefore.. Wally (C) and Suarez (VC) ????

          According to betting odds
Suarez 77% chance of scoring, 17% chance of Hat-trick
          Walcott 52% chance of scoring

Hull arn't great defending counter attacks which is where I see Suarez scoring but in my opinion Walcott just as dangerous at the moment.
