Over the last couple of days, we’ve updated both the Career Hall of Fame and the Live version for members. The Career version now includes all new additions to the Fantasy Football Scout leagues and is viewable to all via this link or the top menu “HoF” link. This table will be updated every week with new entrants.

The Hall of Fame is a ranking system which we apply to everyone in our Fantasy Premier League (FPL) mini-leagues – both the free and the members league. Essentially, it tracks the performances of every manager over each of the seasons they have participated and awards a “HoF rating” accordingly.

The “Live” version of the Hall of Fame, available to our Members, has been updated to include points earned in Gameweek 20. This will be updated with the latest rankings 24 hours after the conclusion of every Gameweek from this point on.

If you’re wondering what the Hall of Fame is all about, you can read below for a quick guide. Alternatively, you can view this movie to listen to Mark and Rate My Team’s Chris Atkinson talk you through it.

Live Hall of Fame Top 10

In the meantime, we thought we’d run the rule over those at the top following the update:

Site moderator Evs is the new number one in the Live Hall of Fame. Having finished fifth overall last year, he looks poised for yet another incredible season – he currently sits on 1,298 points, which is enough to earn him 1,846th spot overall with another 18 Gameweeks to go.

Ulrik Nylnad sits in second spot. His consistency over the past seven seasons in staggering – in six of those years, he’s finished inside the top 2,100, with his “worst” performance back in 2011/12, where he ended in 7,729th spot overall. Ulrik is currently situated around the 46,000 mark but with such an impressive history, you’d expect him to push on again.

Derek Simpson takes third spot. He ended last year in 38th position overall and has finished inside the top 4,000 in five of the last six seasons – at present, he’s just inside the 100,000 mark but has plenty time to make his mark.

In fourth, Rob Pitt has finished inside the top 1,000 in two of the last three years and is nicely poised around the 12K mark, whilst Chris Denbeigh is set for another outstanding season. He has top beaten the 2,5000 mark in six of the previous seven years and is currently situated in 2,559th spot overall.

Elsewhere in the top 10, Atiq Rahman is the highest of our featured managers in this season’s overall standings. A score of 1,304 points has helped him climb to 1,337th position – boosting his chances of finishing inside the top 5,000 for the sixth time in seven years. Pascal Evans has managed a top 1,000 finish in five of the previous seven but, currently sitting in 152,350th overall, has a task on his hands to repeat that feat.

What is the Hall of Fame?
In simple terms, this is as ranking system which can be applied to everyone in our Fantasy Premier League mini-leagues – both the free and the members league. The Hall of Fame tracks the performances of every manager over each of the seasons they have participated and awards a ranking according to the performances. We have a career table that updates every season and a live table that will be updated using the latest season data, after every Gameweek.

How is my rating calculated?
The “HoF Rating” is based on your points scores from previous FPL seasons, with the latest season weighted the heaviest and each corresponding season weighted at roughly 80% that of the previous season. So, in other words, those who performed best in 2012/13 will receive a bigger HoF Rating boost from those who did best in 2007/08. The “HoF Ranking” even allows for those with missing years, adapting the formula accordingly to allow to rank alongside the veterans of the FPL.

How do I join the Hall of Fame
Simply sign up to our leagues, either the Fantasy Football Scout Classic League (1580-1106), or if you’re a member, the Members Classic League – the code is available on the dashboard of the Members Area.

How do I find myself in the Hall of Fame?
The search box at the top of the ranking tables allows you to search by surname or by FPL id.

What if I don’t want to be listed?
Either notify us via support@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk or simply leave the Fantasy Football Scout league and you’ll be removed on the next update.

When does the Hall of Fame get updated?
The Career table is available to all and is updated at the end of each season to display the latest rankings.

The Live version of the Hall of Fame is updated every week to use the latest season data. This version will only be available to our members in the Members Area. If you wish to get access to the live version, you can sign up as a member. Click here for details on upgrading your account or signing up.

Here's some differentials if you want to break the template.
    % = Ownership

    Defenders:

    Evans (MUN) --- 5.0m---2.0%
    - Started 9 of the last 10 games
    - Swansea, Cardiff, Stoke and Fulham in the next 5
    - Decent eye for goal, scored 3 goals last season
    - United tend to get more CSs at this time of year

    Azpilicueta (CHE) ---5.3m---1.9%
    - Started 9 of the last 10 games
    - Nailed on with Ivanovic injured
    - In his preferred position of RB, where he was VERY attacking last season
    - Will be trying to nail down the spot before Ivanovic returns (can play LB if Ivanovic returns)
    - Can get clean sheets against anyone with Mourinho's current defensive mindset

    Kolarov (MCI) ---5.3m---1.9%
    - Started 5 of the last 6 games that he was available for
    - Very attacking in open play and also on some direct FKs
    - Plays Newcastle and Cardiff in the next two
    - He's a god

    Also consider:
    M. Olsson (NOR) ---4.2m---1.0%
    Nastasic (MCI) ---5.1m---0.8%
    Williamson (NEW) ---4.4m---1.2%

    Midfielders:

    Willian (CHE) ---7.5m---0.1m
    - Started 5 of the last 7 matches he's been available for
    - Rumours around the departures of Mata and De Bruyne make him more likely to start (less options in his position)
    - Hull and West Ham in his next 4
    - Even if he doesn't start, he's scored 2 goals off the bench this season, including a stunning effort against Norwich in GW7

    Gerrard (LIV) ---8.7m---4.4%
    - Proven FPL player with penalties and some FKs in his locker
    - 3 goals and 7 assists in 1315 mins this season
    - Nailed on, club captain
    - Plays Stoke, Villa, Everton and WBA in next 4 matches

    Eriksen (TOT) ---7.1m---2.5%
    - Played every minute under Tim Sherwood
    - 2 goals and an assist in his last 3 matches
    - 7 decent fixtures in next 8 weeks
    - Playing in an advanced midfield position and takes some FKs

    Also consider:
    Snodgrass (NOR) ---5.9m---3.4%
    Cazorla (ARS) ---9.5m---2.3%
    Ki (SUN) ---4.8m---0.4%

    Forwards:

    Bony (SWA) ---7.3m---3.0%
    - 6 goals in 901 mins this season
    - Plays Fulham, West Ham, Cardiff and Stoke in his next 6
    - Nailed on
    -Possibly on penalties

    Hooper (NOR) ---6.1m---1.4%
    - 4 goals in his last 7 starts
    - Great history at Celtic, looks to be settling in to the premier league
    - On penalties
    - Plays Everton, Hull, Newcastle and Cardiff in the next 4

    Agbonlahor (AVL) ---6.7m---1.1%
    - 2 goals in last 2 games
    - Kozak out for the season and Benteke out of form - if Villa score he's likely to be involved
    - Difficult next 2 fixtures (ARS,liv), then 6 consecutive 'good' fixtures

    Also consider:
    Berbatov (FUL) ---7.0m---3.1%
    Berahino (WBA) ---4.5m---1.6%
    Crouch (STK) ---5.5m---2.2%

Who Got a Clean Sheet Against Who:

With plenty of fantasy football managers already activating their January wildcards and plenty more to come, I thought I'd share this with the rest of you.
It looks at who's kept a clean sheet against who, so we can separate the strong defensive teams from the ones who's stats are a bit misleading - the ones who have kept clean sheets against relatively easy opponents.

A big consideration for me in the WC teams is player motivation for the World Cup.

Will be looking at players who're looking to make a strong case for breaking into the first team. Who are we looking at here?

    Belgium:
    Benteke / Lukaku
    Mignolet

    England:
    Barkley
    Baines
Welbeck (already seeing an effect of it?)
    Jagielka

    Brazil:
    Willian
    Ramires
    Rafael

    Spain:
    Mata (if only)
    Cazorla (hmm)
    Torres / Negredo
Azpilicueta (massive month ahead for him)

    Italy:
    Osvaldo

Any other names come to mind? Would be a useful and timely list to compile before Wildcard.

How much do players really think about the World Cup at this time though? Most of these players would be wanting to win their leagues and the champions league I'd imagine

(This is a serious question, I rarely hear players say they want to play well so they get in the world cup squads, it is usually from fans and commentators)

You wouldn't hear anyone say it in public as their first job is of course to play their heart out for the club.

But it's an inherent individual motivation imo. They know it's a crucial juncture in the World Cup scheme of things especially as national managers are scouting players almost every game at this point.

yeah possibly, I'm reluctant to believe that with the world cup coming up any of these players will suddenly play slightly better..and surely most of the starting XI for the national teams is pretty much decided at the moment

I think what I'm trying to say is that you'd imagine most of these players want to be playing every game for their clubs regardless of the World Cup.

If players like Mata and Santi started playing well and were nailed on for their respective clubs I would be bringing them in anyway, without even considering that they might want to play better because of the World Cup in July

In the case of Santi - would you though? Likely to be not playing in his best role with Özil around. With Feoo a certainty in our midfields, in normal circumstances, I would be really hesitant to go Santi over Feoo/Özil and maybe even Ramsey.

Not saying its a top priority consideration. At the end of the day, there are loads of other important aspects such as player role, form, chemistry with team, team dynamics in dressing room, etc. Also. At 2-2 vs Chelsea around 80 mins in a title decider, I doubt Santi would be thinking about the world cup.

But I would imagine it would play on the minds of a few players atleast to sweat out the extra bit be it in training or on the football field.

          Absolutely.

Take the curious case of Cesar Azpilicueta as an example. While Jose is adamant that Ivano is first choice RB, Azpi's taken this opportunity to perform at LB like a parasite. Been immense this season. Possibly a knock-on effect of the World cup around the corner?

      A good point well made.

A relayed and less significant point is that some players who are nailed in for their country become less interested in the domestic season as the world cup approaches.

Altidore is first choice but like I said he'll be hoping to come into the world cup with some better form

Cameron is not first choice. he's like first choice utility player if someone is injured or suspended if that makes sense as he's played RB, CB, and CM for us during qualifiers but only really started when others were out. so he has a lot to gain by playing well cuz right now unless he starts at RB (and for some reason Klinsmann has been hesitant to start him at RB)

For England there's a few more names: Henderson, Cleverley, Lallana, Rodriguez, Lambert all looking for a seat on the plane.

Andy Carroll is certainly one to watch, he knows he'll only get to go if he scores a few between now and the summer (as well as wanting to make up for his injury and help out West Ham)

Borini will be looking at Italy too, has a decent chance of getting in the squad as their 3rd/4th striker if he scores goals, the coach loves him.

Navas maybe for Spain along with Mata, Caz.

All of Chelsea's attacking mids: Schurrle, Willian, De Bruyne, Mata all playing for a place (Haz and Oscar pretty nailed on)

Krul/Vorm/Steklenberg all competing for Netherlands jersey, all playing in the prem.

      France:
Remy and Giroud certainly as people have said, loads of French players.
Sakho looking for a starting spot, Koscielny has one, but wants to keep it. Yanga-Mbiwa and the rest of Newcastle want to get in the French squad, particularly Ben Arfa. And Capoue at Spurs. Clichy/Evra battling for a spot.
Could Schneiderlin get a call up?

      Brazil:
Lucas/Sandro going head to head for a spot (Lucas has it currently as first backup to Gustavo)
Coutinho looking to get in the squad alongside Oscar. Willian and Fernandinho slight long shots to get in. Paulinho has a spot, but could lose it.

Loads of players with motivation tbh.

Your Guide To The Wildcard Template Team

This assumes a team value of around 108, although could easily be made to work with less or upgraded to a better team with more. There’s plenty of room for tweaking it to make it your own and to add in some differentials, but the whole point of this is that it’s the template team at the moment. This team will be playing 3-4-3 nearly all the time.

    Step One: Keep LUIS SUAREZ.

Step Two: Of your starting front seven, you’re going to have five premium players and two mid-price players, one of which is a midfielder and one of which is a striker. For your mid-price midfielder, select one of CABAYE, ERIKSEN, or LALLANA. For your mid-price striker, pick one of RODRIGUEZ, REMY, ADEBAYOR, or LUKAKU.

Step Three: Fill out your premium midfield spots. Pick one each of SILVA/YAYA, WALCOTT/OZIL, and HAZARD/OSCAR. Choices will depend mostly on team value and personal preference.

Step Four: Fill out you remaining premium striker spot. Pick from ROONEY, NEGRADO, and LUKAKU (who can be classified as somewhere between mid-price and premium). This will most likely be the player you want to upgrade to AGUERO when he returns to fitness, ideally with money you leave in the bank right from this Wildcard.

Step Five: Choose between one starting keeper and one non-playing keeper; or two rotating cheap keepers. If you are going the former, pick KELVIN DAVIS as the non-playing keeper and one of SZCZESNY, MIGNOLET, or HOWARD as your playing keeper. If you are going the latter, pick MARSHALL and MANNONE.

Step Six: Pick two mid-priced defenders. Pick between KOSCIELNY, EVANS, NASTASIC, DAWSON, and COLEMAN if you picked him up for cheap or DISTIN if you didn’t. If you have a high team value you may be able to choose MERTESACKER as an Arsenal defender or even BAINES as an Everton defender.

Step Seven: Pick your remaining three defenders based on cheapness and rotating fixtures. Common picks involve CHESTER, BEN TURNER, WARD, BROWN, OLSSON, and WILLIAMSON.

Step Eight: Based on your remaining budget, pick your final, mostly bench fodder midfielder. Common picks are STERLING, WHITTINGHAM, MUTCH, BARKLEY, or JANUZAJ but for those on a stricter budget look towards NOONE, KIM BO-KYUNG, or even JOSE CANAS.

Result: This formula can result in the majority of Wildcard teams you see floating around here, with some variation. Popularity isn’t a guarantee of success of course, but I think this is about as good as a Wildcard team can look at this point, with plenty of room for personal changes and working in differentials.

    Example Team:
    Marshall, Mannone
    Mertesacker, Coleman, Chester, Turner, Ward
    Walcott, Yaya, Hazard, Eriksen, Sterling
    Suarez, Adebayor, Lukaku
Team Value (Based On Current Prices): 106.6

Not sure I agree with this. Leaving defence as an afterthought presupposes that the value is all in midfield. However, if the first half of the season is anything to go by, the cheapest way to pick up points is in premium defenders. Fwiw, the Suarez point is spot on - despite missing early fixtures, he's still second in the strikers value for money list.

Last post of the old thread -- thanks to JohnRoss for the reply, but wanted to hear others thoughts on how many core/essential players you are looking to hold onto in the Jan WC window. I looked at #1 in the world's team to compare how many players in common we have (I'm at 550k). If we both keep our common cores of Coleman, Hazard, Silva, Walcott, Sterling, Suarez, Rooney intact, here is what our differences boil down to:
    Him
    Krul Harper
    Merte Chico Baker
    Cabaye
    Negredo
    0.4M itb

    Me
    Marshall Davis
    Kompany Chester MTurner
    Puncheon
    Lukaku
    0.0 itb

Not much there, and I'm probably behind. Based on this reality (and the likelihood that many in the top 10-20k might have this set up as well), I will need to switch some of these guys out (Rooney to Aguero the obvious one, but more will need to happen as well).

How many of Coleman, Hazard, Silva, Walcott, Suarez, Aguero will you own at the end of your WC?

      Krul beats marshall and davis
His defence is better...isn't m turner injured?
      Cabaye marginally beats puncheon
Negredo v lukaku is a draw for me.

At the end of the WC I'm anticipating owning all of those plus yaya.

If you want differentials: Giroud and ozil back soon, oscar a nice cheapy, gerrard always consistent, sturridge back soon (always keep suarez and aguero though). Coleman you could risk but isn't advisable

Thanks for the reply. I agree I am behind now and the money isn't there for a drastic change. Will definitely think about which guys to switch out of the core, but significant risks all of them.

I wish we didn't have this january wc

It's causing me a right headache.

Too much uncertainty. Just a few weeks ago my team was set. Aguero and boruc were ticking over nicely. The yaya silva combo was working.

Somehow I've ended up with Bannan and podolski.

Surely a flaw in the system then, shame. Thought i'd be bit higher with 3 consecutive top 5000 finishes. Cheers for the response
