Having seen Ron’s post earlier questioning the benefits of a rotating defence, I thought I would have a look. Chester, Burner and Ward all seem very popular budget defenders so I chose them over the last 7 GWs (since Chester has been back). Hopefully, this should provide us with a good idea.

I will look at it assuming we pick 1 each week, with 2 big defenders alongside. I will judge success/failure based on whether the obvious pick achieved the best result.

CHESTER / BURNER / WARD
ARS (A) / STK (A) / WHU (H)
- Pick WARD - West Ham at home
- Chester - 2 points
- Burner - 5 points
- Ward - 8 points
Success.

SWA (A) / CRY (A) / CAR (H)
- Pick WARD - Cardiff at home
- Chester - 2 points
- Burner - 1 point
- Ward - 7 points
Success.

STK (H) / WBA (H) / CHE (A)
- 50/50 pick between CHESTER (Stoke home) and BURNER (West Brom home)
- Chester - 6 points
- Burner - 9 points
- Ward - 4 points
Success - both beat Ward.

WBA (A) / LIV (A) / NEW (H)
- Pick WARD (I would normally pick the DEF at home)
- Chester - 2 points
- Burner - 1 point
- Ward - 1 point
Failure - but only missed out on 1 point.

MUN (H) / SOU (H) / AVL (A)
- Pick BURNER/WARD - hard to pick between the fixtures with Southampton being strong.
- Chester - 5 points
- Burner - 1 point
- Ward - 6 points
Failure for Burner. Success for Ward. A goal for Chester caused an anomaly.

FUL (H) / SUN (H) / MCI (A)
- Pick CHESTER (Fulham better fixture than Sunderland)
- Chester - 6 points
- Burner - 1 point
- Ward - 2 points
Success.

LIV (A) / ARS (A) / NOR (H)
- Pick WARD
- Chester - 1 point
- Burner - 0 points
- Ward - 2 points
Success, but no clean sheet.

Based on this, it was successful most weeks. It is a seven GW period, which is a decent sample size and I have tried to pick the obvious defenders and the obvious fixtures each week.

Out of 7 weeks, it returned 4 or 5 clean sheets. I would argue this is a better record than an expensive defender and obviously a lot cheaper.

As an added bonus from earlier, here is the rotation for the rest of the season from Chester/Burner/Ward:

WHM, STO, HUL, NOR, WBA, AVL, HUL, NEW, FUL, sun, WBA, sto, CPL, AVL, STO, ful, avl, ful

There are probably better past/future rotation options, but these were the first three names to come to mind. 🙂

Another Season Ticker Update!

Just thought of something brilliant (to a spud). So this is based on the updated one I post on the previous page. Won't go with the details but yeah.

Basically it's a "Home Rotation Fixtures Ticker"

So I removed all the away fixtures and put the figures as '0' which means the ticker does not taken account into any away fixtures. So what's left is just the home fixtures.

What's great is you can now see which team rotate with which team easier because it only show Home fixture and with contrast colors.
And also you can know which team have the most easy home fixtures during a certain period.
