Gameweek 24 is set to bring us the winner of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup VII, as sponsored by Paddy Power, after the semi-finals came to a conclusion last night. Our two finalists are Ajax and Tdubb05, with the former perhaps the slight favourite due to his higher overall rank (23,379 compared to 37,953):

Tdubb05 will have no qualms over the underdog tag, though, after he narrowly edged out former cup favourite Cunny Funts by 61 points to 60 points in the previous round. Ajax, on the other hand, safely secured his passage with a 63 – 46 win over Tal in the other semi-final, after the later took an eight-point hit prior to last Tuesday’s deadline.

Looking at the two finalists, there are four players – Luis Suarez, Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure and Eden Hazard – currently sitting in both sides. If Aguero is ruled out of City’s clash with Chelsea on Monday, the decision to replace the Argentine could go some way towards determining the tie, though.

At present, Tal has five players set to feature in Monday night’s encounter at the Etihad and only has three fit defenders, whilst Ajax – who has already made two transfers – will be hoping his decision to double up on Arsenal’s backline pays off.

Cunny Funts and Tal will go head-to-head for in the third vs fourth place play-off. At present, the duo have four of the same players – Suarez, Aguero, Toure and Everton’s injured defender Seamus Coleman – but Cunny Funts’ winter wildcard is now active, leaving his opponent guessing.

As we discussed previously, it’s not just bragging rights on offer here – the top three will be rewarded for their exploits.

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon voucher

As always, we wish all four the best of luck as they brace themselves for battle!

    What everyone has been waiting for…..

    I’ve seen loads of comments asking about a ‘complete’ fixture list, but haven’t seen one made yet.

    So I thought I’d do it myself 🙂

    http://postimg.org/image/cdfu1avhh/

    I’ve done the fixtures for the ‘big 7’ for February-mid March.

    The link is to the pretty, visual version. For those who like their numbers, it works out as:

    1st February - 16th March is 44 days.

    Man City - 10 games (PL/CL/FA/LC)
    Arsenal - 10 games (PL/CL/FA)
    Chelsea - 9 games (PL/CL/FA)
    Tottenham - 9 games (PL/EL)
    Liverpool - 8 games (PL/FA)
    Everton - 8 games (PL/FA)
    Man United - 7 games (PL/CL)
    (Note, United and Chelsea only play the first CL leg in this period, whereas City and Arsenal play both legs)

    Juan Mata - 6 games (PL) 😀

    Perhaps the most crucial thing, though…

    … more BLANK/DOUBLE GAMEWEEK potential - for Man City and Chelsea.

    The theory:
    If City and Chelsea were to go to a replay in the FA Cup, there seems no slot to play it in, without re-arranging their Premier League games (or postponing their FA Cup 6th Round game - not sure if there is a precedence for this).

    This isn’t the case for the others - it has fallen like this for City vs Chelsea because Uefa have split the Champions League games. City play one week, Chelsea play the next. With internationals as well, there is no clear midweek between the Fifth Round and the Sixth Round. Potential, people. 🙂

    Boruc / Kelvin Davis
    Kolarov / Azpilicueta / Bardsley / Roger Johnson / Koscielny
    Noone / Hazard / Silva / Lallana / Eriksen
    Sturridge / Agüero / Suárez

    2 FT, £0.0m in the bank.

    A) Aguero + Hazard ----> RVP + Mirallas?
    B) Aguero ---> Benteke/Ade
    C) Aguero + Hazard + R.johnson ----> RVP + Gerrard + Collins(-4)

    Appreciate your suggestions.

      Not for me. With United's forward options now he doesn't have to play as much as he might otherwise have done.

      Mata is the essential United "cover" for me. Ineligible for Champions League so nailed on to start every game.

      One of the few players in the game who can score a brace per game consistently imo.

      Captaincy material next week when Suarez is home to Arsenal.

      Since captaincy is almost a given with Suarez most weeks, it has become very hard to chase down someone. RVP gives you a great chance of making up some ground.

        While I don't see it happening, Pep's comments have not indicated that he desperately wants to keep him just that it'd be nice if he stayed but shit happens.

    Chester > Evans

    and

    Aguero > RVP/Sturridge (-4)

      No double Arsenal in defence, choose one, downgrade Giroud and try Yaya.
      Maybe. 🙂
