Gameweek 24 is set to bring us the winner of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup VII, as sponsored by Paddy Power, after the semi-finals came to a conclusion last night. Our two finalists are Ajax and Tdubb05, with the former perhaps the slight favourite due to his higher overall rank (23,379 compared to 37,953):

Tdubb05 will have no qualms over the underdog tag, though, after he narrowly edged out former cup favourite Cunny Funts by 61 points to 60 points in the previous round. Ajax, on the other hand, safely secured his passage with a 63 – 46 win over Tal in the other semi-final, after the later took an eight-point hit prior to last Tuesday’s deadline.

Looking at the two finalists, there are four players – Luis Suarez, Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure and Eden Hazard – currently sitting in both sides. If Aguero is ruled out of City’s clash with Chelsea on Monday, the decision to replace the Argentine could go some way towards determining the tie, though.

At present, Tal has five players set to feature in Monday night’s encounter at the Etihad and only has three fit defenders, whilst Ajax – who has already made two transfers – will be hoping his decision to double up on Arsenal’s backline pays off.

Cunny Funts and Tal will go head-to-head for in the third vs fourth place play-off. At present, the duo have four of the same players – Suarez, Aguero, Toure and Everton’s injured defender Seamus Coleman – but Cunny Funts’ winter wildcard is now active, leaving his opponent guessing.

As we discussed previously, it’s not just bragging rights on offer here – the top three will be rewarded for their exploits.

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon voucher

As always, we wish all four the best of luck as they brace themselves for battle!

Tricky one. Yobo lost his place and hasn't played since August, so be very surprised to see him go straight in. As a Bennett owner, I am concerned, but Norwich have just had 2 cs, so can't see him & Bassong being split up. Yet.

Coleman, aguero and chester all injured. Could bench them and wait but that would mean playing burner and januzaj, not exactly guaranteed starters. 1 ft and 0 itb so could only sell chester for bruce. Not keen to sell aguero since selling coleman only gives me 6,2 and not sure if selling aguero is smart.. Should i do bruce>chester or sell coleman and if so for who? All suggestions welcome!

I'm in the same position. Did you buy Aguero at 11.9 (or 12.1) so you can afford to wait a day or so without losing value? I'm probably going to replace a defender first (also have Clyne), so Aguero can probably wait. Alternatively you could play all your other defenders, irrespective of fixture, and replace Aguero - which is probably makes most sense. 12m on the bench is not nice.

This feels like a crucial juncture in the season.

By the end of the week all Jan wildcards will be played and a large proportion of us will be left to make ongoing changes without the luxury of a wholesale change of squad.

Key injuries over the last month (Coleman, Aguero, Walcott, Rooney) have been averted by said wildcards, and now we need to take stock and assess the way forward. Aguero - do you go big and bring in the proven goalscorer (RVP? Rooney?) or take a punt on a Benteke and use the money to strengthen in the middle.

City - with no Aguero, does Silva become a problem again? And will he even be able to maintain fitness? Other than Yaya who I have yet to bring in all season (doh!) I can't see many other consistent point scorers, from a team that is scoring more goals than any other in the prem's history.

Arsenal - as a Gooner I am concerned. Our midfield looks bereft without the British Lions in the middle dictating play, winning balls, and boosting on-field morale. The Ox and Arteta really doenst fill me with confidence, and other than an in-form Cazorla I don't see us having any options to play with.

Chelsea - Jose looks set to bore us to death for the remainder, but we will all still cling onto Hazard for those bursts of magic. Defence does look strong mind you.

Man U - with what could become the most potent front three in the prem, is Moyes going to let them fulfill their potential? If he does then Mata and / or RVP and / or Rooney become essential.

Liverpool - surely they can't continue to bang em in? Suarez and Sturridge look incredible and Gerrard looks revitalised...

    Spurs - Tim Sherwood.

All the best for the next few weeks, feels like a bit of a minefield at the minute...

Anyone who says Demichelis is "terrible" really doesn't know shite about football.

Yes, he isn't the fastest or quickest player, but he reads the game very well.

He plays similar to Mertesacker, using his understanding of the game to his advantage. He isn't going to beat people with speed, so he just positions himself in a way that works for him.

I'm not comparing him to Nastasic because of course they are 2 different players. Nasty is more nimble, quick, speedy and young, and has a bright future ahead of him.

But being Pelle, why would you change a CB partnership who is working so well together?

    Rant over.

take ur head outta ur ass mate the guy is brutal... working so well together? city are lucky they have goals coming from all over the pitch because lets face it they are shipping alot more at the other end than they have in the last few seasons... lescott is a better player for one rock solid partnership with kompany they year they were champions.. nastasic is a quality centre half also and a better player and a fully fit micah richards also an upgrade i remember richards coming onto the scene at 18 playing centre half at city he was scary good.. theres 2 reasons imo for starting demichellis and its because he was bought by pelle and to be fair pelle could probably stick his boots on and play centre half himself such is the frightening attack they have

Anyone thinking of dropping Hazard? I think the game has changed significantly in the last week with united potentially now a major source of points and three big hitters back in the game (mata, rooney, rvp). City also clearly need heavy investment although I think yaya toure might be fairly priced now at 10.1

In that final 10+ minute flurry yesterday, the whole attack seemed to go through hazard. He must have set up 4 good shots, could have scored 2, and tested the nerve of WHM defenders by dribbling right at them in the box. He will keep scoring points. Undroppable for me (had original price)

Good, has all the essential boxes checked... its just those two striker spots, lots of potential combinations right now, any of which could be brilliant or could lead to regret.

      Only real quibble is Williamson.

Dzeko surely a good option? I don't see him being rotated much, seems pelle trusts him and think he goes well with any of the other strikers. And with the fixtures coming up it has to be an option.

        I don't think I'll actually follow through..but..

        3.1m available:
        Boruc - Davis
        Evans - Williamson - Ward - Azpi - Chester
        HBA - Mat - Haz - Lallana - Colback
        Sturridge - RVP - Suarez

considering, in the future, Haz + HBA -> Yaya + Oscar, leaving me 0.4m available

Anyone thinking about picking up Mirallas for his potential to be played at CF in light of Lukaku's injury?

I'm considering downgrading disappoining Oscar to him.

This isn't something to brag about.
Well, I guess it is... you took a long shot & it paid off.
          Good for you.

The fact that Yaya has converted aprox. 60% of his shots on target into goals* says that he's having a magical season like few others before him.

*Put this in perspective RVP historically converts 40% of his SoT into goals & the majority of them actually come from inside the box.

Can I ask the same question that everybody else is asking?
        before price rises:

        A) Aguero -> Rooney
        B) 4.4 mid + Aguero -> Cazorla + Dzeko (-4)
        C) 4.4 mid + Aguero -> Cazorla + JRod (-4)

        Front 8 would be
Haz- Yaya - Lallana - Mata - (Cazorla or Noone)
        Suarez-Studge - (????)

5 top mids gives alternatives for rotation.

This Draxler business is getting boring, never seen him play he's only 20 years old and not worth £37m.

I'd take any decent striker as back up.

          Mate, you'll regret saying that.

He's a wonderful player & any BPL side would be happy to have him running up & down the wing.

Look at his performances in the CL & you'll certainly be impressed this "kid" who's only 20min old.
