Ahead of this evening’s Emirates encounter between Arsenal and United, Paddy Power has come up with something a little different for those yet to register an account. As both sides look to recover from their respective weekend disappointments, our bookmaker friends are tempting us with an offer of either 4/1 for the Gunners to earn the win that would take them back to the top of the table or a massive 9/1 for David Moyes’ underperforming side to emerge victorious

If you’ve already got an account with Paddy, you can still benefit from a Money Back Special on offer at the Emirates tonight. Paddy are offering refunds on all losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score and Scorecast bets should Robin van Persie score last.

To clarify, the Man United and Arsenal specials are limited to a Β£10 stake, are open to new Paddy Power customers only and subject to the terms and conditions specified. New customers can only opt for one of the two offers.

Finally, of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Who are Liverpool fans supporting tonight? I see it as win-win. If Arsenal drop points it helps us in the title race, and if Utd lose, well that's always a plus.

It wasn't long ago Liverpool drew with Villa and West Brom in what were less than convincing performances. I'd rather Liverpool won it than Chelsea and Man City mind you. But top 4 would be massive for Liverpool.

Okay, this was lost last night, so I repost:

Development idea: No transfers for hit.

Means: 1 FT/GW, can be saved one round to get 2 FT/GW, no extra transfers for hit.

The rationale: teams are now awfully similar and bandwagons ridiculously massive. Differences are made by Mirallas or Lallana (I have both) and the name of Southampton defender. The one way to keep up the differences, is to limit transfers: every transfer will be more important, as they will decide your way for a longer time. It will be harder to join bandwagons and you will have to choose your wagons more carefully. You have to take two rounds to get in expensive players unless you have money in the bank.

This will eventually divide teams more than they currently are divided, because it would be more difficult to chase the template and with only one transfer choice/round, the transfer you decide to make would bear longer consequences.

Not at all. You just have to be wiser than now.

Everybody will get injuries, that's for sure. In the long run, there's no big difference between luck of different fpl players.

Some people just buy players already having injuries, or buy players as soon as possible and call it "bad luck" if the player gets injured before the matches, but their wise moves if he doesn't and they catch the early price changes.

And then some people buy cheap bench of players who do not play in order to get more money to their first XI. Then they obviously are shocked when they suffer a couple of injuries and suddenly can't field a full XI. But nobody has to be that dumb. These people would obviously suffer more with my suggested changes, but I think that's all okay.

i think prices should rise quicker, or we should only be allowed one player from each team. Or we have to buy people for a more set position (eg at present all my defenders are full backs, but maybe I should be forced to have centre-backs etc).

      1. Camp No No

Limiting to one player from each team could actually even worsen the situation. There's a whole bunch of team from which the choice would be too obvious. In the end, it would be decided by which player you have from a couple of teams, and maybe between choice over another couple of teams.

Having to buy centre-backs and full backs and so on would be interesting, but wouldn't solve this problem. You will still have this template that anybody can reach with a little hit.

Price rises are one of the things that actually make people buy all these template players in fear that they can't afford them later. In UEFA CL crappy fantasy football there are no price changes, and at least in my ML there's a lot more diversity between our teams there.

      I don't like it.
A four point penalty is designed to do exactly what you are aspiring to. Good players take hits and move up, bad players squander points chasing last weeks results. It works.

...and what about the cats who play for money on gameweek scores? You'll kill their joy. Bad craic.

        1. No. It doesn't work like that. For example, in my money league, there are almost no differences at all between the top 8 or so teams. I'd say it all comes down to which Chelsea or So'ton defender you own, and do you have Mirallas or Lallana, and then maybe Studge or a cheaper forward. Some don't have a playing second GK. But all in all: the differences are ridiculously small. It's outrageously boring.
