Having announced a couple of new cup competitions last week, we thought we’d give you another heads-up as the weekend’s deadline edges closer. Not only do we have the ninth instalment of our open-to-all cup competition, as sponsored by Paddy Power, we also have the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup IV up and running over the season run-in:

If you’re familiar with our competitions you can get your entries in right now via the links below. If you’re new to all this, read on for an FAQ on the competitions.

Enter the Paddy Power IX Cup via the entry form here.

Members can also enter the Members Cup IV via this entry form.

Are there prizes?

As mentioned, Paddy are supplying the competition with some great prizes and, once again, we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IX is as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the top scoring manager from each round will win a £25 free bet from Paddy Power on supply of their Paddy Power username.

For the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup IV, the prizes are:

Winner – £200 Amazon voucher.
Runner-up – £100 Amazon voucher

How do the cup competitions work?

Our cup competitions are very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s (FPL) Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the manager highest in the overall standings will progress.

When do they start?

The qualifying rounds for both cups will take place in Gameweek 27 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before Monday February 24 will be entered into the qualifying rounds. In the Paddy Power XI cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1016 (plus eight previous winners who will earn a bye, if entered) with the top scores in Gameweek 27 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 28. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions. The same rules apply in the Members Cup, although we will restrict this to 512 teams in the first round.

How do I enter?

You can enter the Paddy Power IX Cup via the entry form here.

Members can also enter the Members Cup IV via this entry form.

In both cases you will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry and you’ll be asked to confirm your FPL team id at the point of entry – please be sure to click the link to verify that your team is correct before confirming.

You can check that you are entered the Paddy Power IX Cup via this list and this list for the Members Cup.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying rounds of both cups will be published on or around Tuesday February 25 and then weekly from that point on.

What is the Gameweek Schedule?

These Cup competitions will be played out according to the following Gameweek schedule

Paddy Power Cup XI Round Dates

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 27
  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 28
  • Gameweek 29 Skipped Due to Potential Blanks
  • Round 2 – 512 teams – Gameweek 30
  • Round 3 – 256 teams – Gameweek 31
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 32
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 33
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 34
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 35
  • Quarter-Final – 8 teams – Gameweek 36
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 37
  • Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 38

FFS Members Cup Round Dates

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 27
  • Round 1 – 512 teams – Gameweek 28
  • Gameweek 29 Skipped Due to Potential Blanks
  • Round 2 – 256 teams – Gameweek 30
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 31
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 32
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 33
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 34
  • Quarter-Final – 8 teams – Gameweek 35
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 36
  • Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 37

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round of both cups will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Do I have to enter if I’m previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed, we will need to record you entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFS username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament. Ideally, you will already have a username with us but this is not essential to enter (although it is for the Members Cup) – you must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles. You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament, should you do so without permission, or should you enter multiple teams or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from a tournament.

Sturridge C over Suarez is the right choice, wanted to do the same last week as I thought Sturridge would outscore Suarez but ownership dictated things, ups and gains I suppose, compare the two over the last few weeks (do admit Suarez been unlucky). The thing that concerns me is:

Suarez assists for Sturridge but Sturridge is selfish and prefers to shoot rather than assist

    GW29 fixtures at present

    West Brom v Man U
    Cardiff v Fulham
    Palace v Southampton
    Norwich v Stoke
West Ham v Hull (maybe off if Hull win in FA cup)
    Chelsea v Tottenham

I personally wouldn't wreck my team (currently 6 playing) to field as many as possible for one possible decent GW, the players you lose will have a future DGW (may even play GW29). I can understand people losing Man City/Sunderland with two blanks GW28/29

Yeah if the dgw's are in the near future then it doesn't really make much difference how many your missing. If they're further down the line it could hurt

Only 4 teams miss GW28, a few more miss GW 29 but then normality resumes with all teams playing each GW and some with 1, 2 or even 3 playing DGWs (although most wont have the 3DGW players due to 2 blanks)

Only reason to use would be to get in Olsson for Kolarov since you will be dropping him next week due to double blanks. Personally I am saving my FT and doing that one next week along with dumping Mannone for a playing GK

If this was my team I would hold, you may get a low score but has potential to be above average and use your 2 FT to sort GW28-29 (i.e. Kol and Silva you wont have much tied up and can buy back with your WC if need be)

Cheers - similar thinking here also. If none of the other uncertain games stay in GW29, I'm not sure any defenders are worth a hit that week though, so may just bench Kolarov.

        Something like:

        GW27: Save
        GW28: Silva -> Oscar
        GW29: Mirallas, Benteke & Sturridge -> Snoddy, RVP(c) & Lambert (4 points)
        GW30: Wildcard

Would leave me with the below for GW29:

        Terry
        Hazard, Oscar, Lallana, Snodgrass, Puncheon
        RVP(c), Lambert

Really need to ditch Dzeko next week but for who? Lambert is the obvious choice but I already have 3 Southampton, which would mean ditching Boruc. If so, who would you get in for Boruc, from the fixtures the most likely replacement would be Ruddy 😯

Ade is probably the best option - decent GW28 fixture and plays in GW29.

I'd be tempted to bench Dzeko next week though and bring in RVP in GW29 if possible.

If youre able to bench citty for two weeks after this GW then it will pay dividends the following two weeks.

I would save the transfer, you can field 11 and have 2FT next week when you have move info on your team. You may get a drop in rank (may even rise) but going forward you will gain more points.

      doesnt look too shabby fella.

Depending on whether you want to free up cash courd bring in Ben Turner, Cardiff have two decent home games and play GW29. Becasue of this argueably Noone isnt such a problem?

The main issue is whether Noone actually plays, with Bellamy sniffing about. Might get Bruce in for Flanagan if Hull play in GW29.
I'll probably ship Noone come GW30, when I ship RVP and the DGWs come into play.

No offence Parm , you are a good poster and your FF history is great but double Man U attack with only 1 poor DGW and how shocking they have been this season I would get rid of 1, RVP could be great C choice GW29 with the games in GW29, would you C mata?

You can't let a FT go to waste so you must use one. I'd keep all your front lines. You can bench silva Suarez and Studge when needed and play the rest.

With that said you need to ditch the other dead weight to field 11 in GW 29. Get Olsson now for Flanagan. Start zap is has and chambers with him as first sub this week?

everyone needs to see BSLOEBADGER's masterpiece

Let's try and break this down to see who should you bring in to steady the ship over these blanks.

Chelsea: The only top 4 team with a game GW29. Decent fixtures around it too. Playing Tottenham but at home and with a solid defence.
Players to get: Most teams already have Hazard and one defender. May be worth doubling up in defence

Southampton: Good side with a decent run of fixtures. Home match against the Pool the only real snag. Favourable game away to Palace GW29.
Players to get: All of them, they're great value. Chambers at 3.9 is a steal. Shaw, Fonte, Lallana, JRod, Lambert all worth their price too.

Norwich: Great run of fixtures throughout. Not a great side though.
Players to get: M.Olsson in defence. Snodgrass if you're feeling punty in midfield

Man United: Blank the week before, but guaranteed game GW29 followed up by DGW soon after. Expensive players but the only big name players with a relatively easy fixture for captaincy. Liverpool the following week and City during the DGW leads for some tough fixtures though.
Players to get: Wouldn't get them til GW29, Mata, RVP for captaincy if you have the cash and an easy transition to Aguero afterwards.

Tottenham: 2 easy fixtures up next and a guaranteed game GW29, albeit against Chelsea. Bad run of fixtures post GW2 with no DGW's.
    Players to get in: None

Crystal Palace: After this weeks game against Utd, Palace have a relatively kind run of 4 fixtures
Players to get in: Ward, Dann if nailed on, Jedinak if you like 2pts, Puncheon, Ince if you fancy a punt

Stoke - bad fixtures prior to GW29, good fixtures Gw29 and beyond, but most people will be looking to stock up on DGwers by then so not worth considering too much.

West Ham V Hull - possible postponement

Other teams probably not worth investing in due to blanks or poor fixtures

I'd bench, as I said before you can either spend points and/or transfers getting rid to then bring back in or bench and either save the transer or use it to tinker with other areas of your team.

I know the frustration, I have 4.3 sat in the bank and it feels like a waste but it allows for flexablity over the next 3 or 4 GW's espically with the likes of RVP or Kun lurking.

Benching involves playing a lackluster 5-3-2 in Gameweek 28, given that i'm already carrying Silva & Mata. Bringing in someone like Adebayor leaves cash for upgrades elsewhere plus Ade has 2 games when some have none.

David N'Gog for the 3rd striker spot, discuss:

Has only played 14 minutes since being brought in over the winter transfer window.

Has always been a terrible footballer and is on the decline

Has terrible fitness, no long-term tank and a terrible shot at goal

Is unlikely to feature for more than 2-3 bench subs at the 80th minute for the rest of the season

    Used to play for Liverpool

... think i might get him in for Sturridge!

Feel less embarrassed about posting this now after seeing Test Eagles post on N'Gog 😆 but thoughts on Eto to cover my striker spot for the next few weeks? I feel he may be worth a punt.

Big rotation between the two me thinks. Torres had actually finally found some form before getting injured

Too punty for my taste. Could easily be benched either 28/29 or both when you lack bench cover to cope

You know nobody is gonna say it's a good idea, right?

If you really think he will do something good, go for it. I can't see it though.

        BSLOEBADGER

Unless they have got him just to win the youth league (which I would not have thought to be a priority) then there is no age limit for football anyway so what is the problem?
