Having announced a couple of new cup competitions last week, we thought we’d give you another heads-up as the weekend’s deadline edges closer. Not only do we have the ninth instalment of our open-to-all cup competition, as sponsored by Paddy Power, we also have the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup IV up and running over the season run-in:

If you’re familiar with our competitions you can get your entries in right now via the links below. If you’re new to all this, read on for an FAQ on the competitions.

Enter the Paddy Power IX Cup via the entry form here.

Members can also enter the Members Cup IV via this entry form.

Are there prizes?

As mentioned, Paddy are supplying the competition with some great prizes and, once again, we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IX is as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the top scoring manager from each round will win a £25 free bet from Paddy Power on supply of their Paddy Power username.

For the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup IV, the prizes are:

Winner – £200 Amazon voucher.
Runner-up – £100 Amazon voucher

How do the cup competitions work?

Our cup competitions are very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s (FPL) Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the manager highest in the overall standings will progress.

When do they start?

The qualifying rounds for both cups will take place in Gameweek 27 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before Monday February 24 will be entered into the qualifying rounds. In the Paddy Power XI cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1016 (plus eight previous winners who will earn a bye, if entered) with the top scores in Gameweek 27 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 28. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions. The same rules apply in the Members Cup, although we will restrict this to 512 teams in the first round.

How do I enter?

You can enter the Paddy Power IX Cup via the entry form here.

Members can also enter the Members Cup IV via this entry form.

In both cases you will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry and you’ll be asked to confirm your FPL team id at the point of entry – please be sure to click the link to verify that your team is correct before confirming.

You can check that you are entered the Paddy Power IX Cup via this list and this list for the Members Cup.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying rounds of both cups will be published on or around Tuesday February 25 and then weekly from that point on.

What is the Gameweek Schedule?

These Cup competitions will be played out according to the following Gameweek schedule

Paddy Power Cup XI Round Dates

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 27
  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 28
  • Gameweek 29 Skipped Due to Potential Blanks

FFS Members Cup Round Dates

  • Quarter-Final – 8 teams – Gameweek 35
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 36
  • Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 37

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round of both cups will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Do I have to enter if I’m previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed, we will need to record you entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFS username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament. Ideally, you will already have a username with us but this is not essential to enter (although it is for the Members Cup) – you must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles. You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament, should you do so without permission, or should you enter multiple teams or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from a tournament.

Hey lads. Need some help picking the best option. I have 6.1M ITB and 2FT. Here's my team:

    Boruc | Kelvin Davies
Coleman Reid Flanagan | Gabbidon Olsson
Eriksen Lallana Hazard Silva | Gnabry
    Adebayor Sturridge Suarez

    A) Eriksen>Mata
    Gabbidon>Ivanovic

I was thinking of doing this and then next week I could transfer Silva out for someone else like Oscar.

    Gameweek 28: I field 11 players
Gameweek 29: I field 9 players assuming Reid plays

    B) Gnabry>Ince
    Gabbidon>Ivanovic

Same thing. I will transfer Silva out for someone like Oscar.

    Gameweek 28: I field 11 players
Gameweek 29: I field 10 players assuming Eriksen and Reid play

Your real issues are Eriksen -> Mata or Gnabry -> Ince now, and playing 9 or 11 in GW29. Eriksen -> Mata is the preferred move since you need at least 1 Mun player in GW29, and Mata will definitely play 90 minutes this week (ineligible for UCL). And i obviously prefer getting him than Ince. Give Tot a look in their Ueropa clash to monitor Erik's situation.

Have a fwd line of suarez rvp jrod and really confused what to do with them

    Rvp:
    - decent fixture this gw
    - blank in gw28
    - good cpt choice for gw29
    - double in gw31..although i would prefer aguero for the dgw

    Jrod:
    - no blanks, biggest advantage
    - okkish form but being played out wide
    - average fixtures
    - only valid upgrade would be adebayor i think?

I have the same forward line. Ultimately I would like to get to SAS.

For gw30 RvP will go to Aguero and JRod may go to Sturridge depending what else has happened by then. Adebayor might be an option for RvP - Ade - Aguero once I take a look at all the postponements.

Happy with JRod until 30 though.

Keep them imo. I know the temptation to replace them with the likes of Studge & Ade is very high, but they are worthy to hold onto at least until GW30 (or GW31 for RVP). Their availability in GW29 wins it.

REPOST!! Fall at end of last page... Please help suggest...

    Boruc Davis
    Gabbidon Zabaleta Azpuelitta Bruce Demel
    Yaya Hazard Mirallas Benarfa Noone
    Dzeko RVP Suarez

    1.6 ITB 2 FT...

I went for a few punt the past couple wks and got burned hard...

Now am left with bruce, gabbidon, mirallas Barfa,Dzeko... who are unsure starter...

and with 4 manchester player in upcoming week need to get rid of at least 2 by nxt week.. what should be my priority..

was thinking mirallas/Barfa/gabbidon out for XXX this gameweek...

then dzeko + zaba out by nxt gameweek... keeping yaya and rvp through the blank...

or should i start by ditching zaba now.. and ditch 2 more city as 2 blank is too much cash to waste...

    PLease help suggest... ))

        was thinking along the line...

should i do both this week? or should i do only Barfa --> Snodgrass first as zabaleta should have more chance of CS then chelsea... and also an FT on hand would always be handy?

but doing so meaning i will hav to bench RVP + 1 city over the nxt couple blank...

just thinking if i need to take out all 3 city or not

What a poor performance by City

Made the premier league look bad. Far too defensive setup for a home tie, they were scared of them before they even kicked off

Much has been made of Ozil’s midseason slump, with fatigue often mentioned. Unlike Spain and Germany’s leagues, England has no winter break in its schedule. If anything, the matches come even more quickly, which is cited as a reason for his malaise. But Ozil isn’t really the problem; rather, it’s the talent that surrounds him. Ozil is a chance-creation machine, and his most effective weapon is the through ball. Aaron Ramsey’s early-season Johan Cruyff impression was the perfect pairing for Ozil’s wizardry, and Arsenal surged to the top of the Premier League on the back of it. Even when Ramsey wasn’t the recipient of Ozil’s distribution, his presence and movement opened up gaps in opposing defenses that could be exploited by striker Olivier Giroud. Without Ramsey, Ozil looks sluggish, and his form has dipped in terms of cumulative chance creation.

I've been hiding under a blanket for the last week licking my wounds from a disastrous gw26. Dropped from 18k to 30k.
But, with 2FT, I'm not in terrible shape.

    Boruc Mannone
    Coleman Kolarov Azpilicueta Koscielny Ward
    Hazard Silva Mata Eriksen* Gnabry*
    Suarez RvP JRod

Eriksen has to go this gw, and Gnabry, Silva and Kolarov will need to be replaced before gw28. As long as I choose wisely, I'll be fine for gw29.

Thinking Eriksen -> Snodgrass this week.

    Any other brilliant ideas?

    GK:Mannone, Speroni
    DEF:Terry, Azpi, gabbidon, Collins, Coleman
    MID:Yaya, Zaha, Puncheon, Hazard, Lallana
    ATT:Suarez, Studge, Ade
    0.4 mil in bank

    For Aguero...

    Terry>Ivan
    Yaya>Nolan

How is this plan for getting Aguero in?

I don't know... Beware of unbalancing your team.
I made the seemingly brilliant move of bringing in RvP after Aguero's recent injury. But it leaves me with 0m in the bank, and little wiggle room.I love how I can do a straight swap back to Aguero.
Consider ditching Sturridge or even (gasp!) Suarez to bring Aguero in.

As a fan boy of EPL, consider City is the strongest team in the league this year but they lose at home against Barca makes me feel ashamed !! ( I hate opponents from La Liga)

Although I'm United fan but in Champions league I still support City & other English clubs against opponents from other leagues. City made me so dissapointed, especially people praise their scoring record this year (best in Europe?)

Yep, very difficult. But I think it's still too early to write them off from, let's say, a top 6 finish. It's not even March, and we know if they're out of UCL, they have nothing else to go but to finish as high as possible in the League, just like Liv, Eve & Sot.

He made the transfer to his club over the winter transfer window and notched his first goal recently.

Tall, rangey and a very good eye for goal, this walking tree will be "the new big thing" at his club in coming months.

    For me
    1) getting rid of Coleman and Ade to early.

Not geting on (so to speak):

Toure early doors and pretty much all season.
AJ over that 4 GW period

      Other bad choices:

Picking JRod over Lambert 3 weeks ago.
Not getting rid of Erickson 2 weeks ago (cost me about 20 lost bench points belive it or not)
Taking the armband of Hazard mid week the week he got the hatrick

    Wenger's official email:

"Yaya Sanogo made his first start (on Sunday) and, considering he is only just back from an injury, he was absolutely excellent. It was an intense game but he was always involved and he was a handful for Liverpool's defenders."

Nicklas Bendtner was another option for Sunday and he works very hard in training, but I wanted to give a chance to Sanogo. I think overall the performance of Sanogo justified it."

Now, I hope this Yaya will get his chance in the PL. Would be like a breath of fresh air.

    3.7 banked, 2 FT

    Was thinking:

27: Rosenior-->Spurs defender (but which one?!)
28: Dzeko-->Similarly priced forward, Mata--> Gerrard or someone.

    Anyone see some better options?

My one rule on FPL is no Adebayor regardless.

Best option before 10.4m in that bracket? Cheers 🙂

So help a geezer out. Only just saw the fixture changes yesterday for a while. I have 1 FT and 0.5M in the bank.

    Mannone Adrian
    Ward Olsson Azpi Ivan Evans
    Lallana Silva Mata Haz Noone
    Tekkers SS

I have all 5 defenders and all mids but Silva for GW29 so thats 9 players.
I have Mata Evans Silva on my bench for GW28

So that means definitely getting rid of of Silva after this GW. And then Tekkers for GW29 maybe. Which midfield option jumps out as a replacement?

Also for this week i am thinking either save or Evans -> Shaw/Chambers/Fonte

    Talk me through this boys..

      Hey LR

I'm no seasoned veteran but my advice would be to save this week, and look at Evans to Chambers and Silva to Puncheon/Ince to set yourself up for GW29... After GW29 work towards setting youself up for the DGWs, which should almost certainly include getting in Aguero (when fit)

      Just my two cents 🙂

That is some decent advice. It does help me save some much needed cash for Kun, which i really do need to start thinking about.

My thinking is if i get in Chambers now if Evans isn't fit, isn't the worst move right?

Oops, forgot about Tekkers... Lambert/Jrod for GW29?

Will Evans be likely to play in GW29? If so, might be worth holding?

Gotta keep Silva methinks.. no point wasting 2 transfers (out then back in)..

This. Evans to a Soton defender is a sound move.

You in better shape than most. Good wildcard planning has set you up well
You could easily play 5 at the back GW 29 and carry 2 transfers and 3 missing players into it meaning you then in good shape to bring in DGW players.
This would mean using only 2 transfers next 3 weeks up to 29, one for a gk, if west ham match off, the other to lose one of silva or tekkers. I'd actually consider carrying silva through as you will prob want him long term. Tekkers will surely become one of Aguero or RVP for the doubles.
